Great location if you get a table on the street.
However, the food you order does not look like what you see in the photos. Not surprisingly, you get what you pay for. If you are looking for a cheap meal. This is your place. If you want authentic tapas and paella, keep looking.

Excellent place! Affordable, traditional, fresh food! Just in the heart of the gothic center! Excelente lugar, comida tradicional, muy buen precio, el dueño es muy amable. Abre hasta tarde!

HORRIBLE! 10 € for rice, tomato paste, and frozen vegetables. It was our last day in Barcelona and we wanted to have paella one last time. But, we felt so disappointed. We asked for tap water and they refused. When they ran my credit card they charged it in US Dollars instead of asking local currency or US Dollars. Every other restaurant asks first. (It is best practice to charge in local currency as you will get a much better rate from your bank in the conversion.)
This may have been 4 stars a few years ago, but it’s less than 1 star. Service is horrible. There are far better places to eat in this neighborhood. Stay away!

Worst paella mariscos I have ever had that came with small shrimp that weren’t pealed. To top off the bad paella, I found a metal string in my paella… and all he said was «sorry». The salmon dish I ordered came with a salad and they brought out French fries. Instead of just bringing me a side dish of salad, he took away my plate. Took off the French fries and put salad on it. I even told them no dressing on the salad and they put dressing on the salad. The cheese pizza was burnt. Papa johns pizza was better than this. The beef estofado came out cold. Definitely don’t recommend this place at all. We also sat near the kitchen and it smelt like cigarette smoke. And place has flies everywhere. Couldn’t even enjoy my cold beer without having to swing my arm to swap the flies away.

Good service, great location and tasty paella! They will make it the way you like it and they serve individual portions.

Good, laid back service. We only tried seafood paella here, and it was great. Definitely recommend for a quick bite.

Not only is the food great, the owners are super nice and helpful. There was a family dining next to us with a significant language barrier and were having trouble ordering, 2 of the waitstaff were incredibly patient and helpful and attended to the couple till they got the meal they wanted. Paella was excellent. My sister and I found the boquerones Fritos we had been looking for since we got to Barcelona. Gambas Fritos were good too. A lovely lunch in all!

Family run restaurant. Excellent value for money. Paella was very good. The owners are not warm and fuzzy. The big time you get very sick of me and I hear about how long the wait is for dishes you have all did. It delays I usually due to prep time, which suggests that the dishes are made from scratch.

Es uno de los mejores restaurantes k he comido en mi vida, sobretodo la comida a la brasa, la megatelevision la música i la decoración del rodri son únicos. Enserio tenéis k ir para comprobarlo.

OH HELLO there paella negro!!!
My cousin took us here and asked me if remembered this place when I was in my honeymoon. It looked familiar but gosh darn-​it I didn’t. But who cares it had what I love and not for a arm and a leg price. They even had lunch specials for us. I love how BCN has set menus and it’s like GREAT set menus. Not like whack entrée and dessert. Barcelona has like salad, entrée, dessert and café. OH I miss BCN.
OK now about the food. I ordered the negro paella (not microwave or easy make paella), peppers and spicy potatoes bravas. I will say the food I ordered were all great and would get it over and over and over again! My daughter wanted spaghetti so we got her the seafood red sauce spaghetti it was delish! My cousin in law ordered soup and his 2^nd entrée was fries and meat potato balls (kinda like Porto’s meat potato balls). My cousin ordered the breaded chicken and fries (2^nd entrée). So good! OK pretty much if you order food here it will be good and tasty.
Small mom and pop place are great. You get the love in the food. Owners were friendly and kept us very happy.

El Bar Restaurante Rodrigo está situado en la conocida calle Platería (Carrer Argentería) y es una calle muy concurrida de turistas que van y vienen del barrio de El Born, del Museo Picasso y de la Iglésia de Santa María del Mar.
Buén surtido de platos combinados, dos menús, paellas y fideuás entre otros.
Como que estaba por la zona este sábado pasado y sólo quería comer un plato combinado, entré. Elegí uno que llevaba medio pollo con patatas fritas y ensalada, por 8,50 €, pan servido en una panera, 1 € y una Cocacola Zero a 2 €. El pollo era enano porque ese medio pollo era como ¼ de un pollo normal. Eso si, estaba tierno y muy bueno. El servicio era correcto y rápidos en servir.
los turistas, como no, sus paellitas. El restaurante está en medio de otros con más glamour y chic’s pero el R. Rodrigo planta cara en su pequeño comedor ofreciendo trato correcto, rapidez y precio justo. Las paredes de piedra son huecas, pero eso es lo de menos.
Por si la dirección del restaurante Rodrigo lee esta reseña le sugiero que retiren la máquina tragaperras que tienen justo al lado de la puerta de los aseos porque considero que da mala imagen al local. Yo no veo este local como un bar.

El bar Rodri es el típico bareto en el que te reúnes con los colegas y noche de ésas en que ninguno tiene ningún plan en absoluto y sales a verlas venir. ¿Vamos por el centro? Claro. ¿Dónde quedamos? No sé… (Comodín del Rodri). Vamos al Rodri a cenar algo y luego ya veremos.
Al menos hasta ahí, la noche está a buen recaudo.
Ell Rodri es un restaurantucho sin pretensiones, con algún que otro parroquiano disparatado, pero donde se come bien y barato (el pollo al vino está genial) y puedes tomarte unas cañejas económicas. Muy grande.
P.D. Y por si sirve de argumento en su favor, su página web es una risa.

Lo que en los setenta fue Zeleste, cuna del underground barcelonés de la época, es hoy un Desigual. Apenas tres pasos más abajo está el Rodri, que no sabemos si estaba abierto ya cuando Pau Riba la liaba parda en la calle Platería o tardó unos años en abrir. Sea como sea, parece que las cosas le van hoy de rechupete al tal Rodrigo, que aplaude sin duda alguna la Barcelona turística. De hecho, en su web naïf y orientada al guiri en busca de comida típica española por internet (???), anuncia a los cuatro vientos su especialidad en paella, cosa que nos huele a chamusquina. De su savoir faire con las tapas damos fe, aunque no sea referente mundial en la materia.
La gracia del Rodri es que siendo lo que es, un bar bastante normalillo, ha tenido la suerte de permanecer abierto en un momento en que la calle Platería es un flujo constante de gambas rubias con shorts y camisetas del Barça. Sin duda, lo esperpéntico del trato del dueño con los camareros, a los que casi he visto pelear por un aire acondicionado estropeado, no sale relatado en la Lonely Planet. Ni falta que le hace al Rodri.
