Hotel was lovely — overlooking touristy Las Rambla — which was kinda fun for people watching. You would expect the hotel rooms to be noisy, but they were actually VERY quiet. Very small rooms but a great location for walking to many of Gaudi’s sights, as well as Barri Gotic, El Raval, El Born districts, etc. Staff was friendly and spoke enough english to get by. We wished there was at least a hot tub, or rooftop terrace to watch sunsets and just hang out. They do not have a pool or fitness facility. They DO however have a relationship with the spa across the street, and give slightly discounted rates for massages, etc. My friend and I got a massage there one day and it was a lovely facility, with excellent staff. We asked the concierge where a good place to watch the sunset and he told us to walk north up Las Rambla to their sister hotel(Royal Hotels Passeig de Gracia) go up on their rooftop terrace bar — we did this and it was FANTASTIC. Great cocktails, nibbles and a beautiful(nearly) 360 deg view of Barcelona! Finally a Barcelona Sunset!

This Royal Hotel location is situated in the heart of the shopping area of Barcelona. The hotel sits on Passeig de Gracia where a lot of the name brand boutiques(Chanel, Gucci, LV, Dior, Hermes, Cartier…) are and it’s an easy walk or bus ride to most of the touristy places in the city. And obviously there are taxis if you prefer. Besides being a superb location, the rooms and service were outstanding. Sylvia checked us in and was super helpful in providing some sightseeing and restaurant suggestions. Jan helped with our bags and besides being super sweet and considerate, he’s easy on the eyes. I tried not to stare but it was tough. His genuine personality made him even more attractive. The day we checked out, Victor was in Jan’s place and he’s a looker as well although we didn’t have any direct interaction with him. The rooms are modern, clean and so spacious! And I love how bright they are. We stayed elsewhere a different night and the room was nice but super dark. I much prefer to have good lighting. The bed was the perfect firmness but the pillows were a little too high & firm for my taste. One other minor gripe is that the hairdryer is one that you have to continuously hold the on-button for it to work. But neither of these were enough for me to dock them any stars. One floor above reception there’s a really nice lounge area which includes computers w/a printer for anyone’s use. The same floor houses a bar, a restaurant and public toilets. Free wifi is provided throughout the hotel. All in all, I really enjoyed our stay and would definitely want to stay here again!

Great location on the Passeig de Gracia, just a few steps from Gaudi’s Casa Pedrera and a sightseeing bus stop hub, nextdoor to a cashpoint, opposite a taxi rank, walking distance to the old town, and surrounded by unaffordable designer shops that are nevertheless nice to look at! I was suckered into paying an extra 10 euros a night to include breakfast and get an upgrade, and the deluxe room I ended up in was very spacious and well appointed — slippers, toiletries, the works. Extra brownie points for having blackout blinds too, auto-operated from the bedside. The reception staff don’t really have their act together — most queries trigger blank looks and a request to come back later to speak to a manager, the siesta hours being the worst for this. Provided you don’t need to do anything too complex with them though you should be fine — a g&t on their awesome rooftop terrace bar and any complaints will be soon forgotten! This was a great space to enjoy some evening sunshine and oversized bordeaux glasses of gin after a tough day of meetings, and plan the rest of our evening using their wifi. Oh to be back there now… *sigh*
