Sandwich & Friends

So this was the 1^st place that I had a burger since we came to visit Europe. We sat in an very charming outdoor square with street vendors, performers & other free entertainment. The food was mediocre & the service was about the same. Nothing special. What was good was the outdoor location. As such I would have a coffee or drink but just wouldn’t eat here again.

Food is alright but the location is very nice. Located in the Gothic Quarters, it is an ideal place to grab a bite, have a glass of wine and just chill after you are tired of exploring the beautiful vicinity.

My phone battery was dying and we needed wifi so we decided to stop by here after seeing that they had both an outlet and wifi. In the mean time, my boyfriend just shared a cucumber sandwich and a cheesecake. They were both very appealing to the eyes and creatively put together. The cucumber sandwich was really cute and refreshing.

Mediocre seríà la palabra. Nos sirvieron los 3 sandwiches fríos y sin ninguna gracia. Además, no aceptan tarjeta de crédito. No repetiré.

La cadena S&F parece que no vive sus mejores momentos. Algunos de sus establecimientos han cerrado (aribau, plz cataluña) y los restantes parecen estar languideciendo. El del Born es una triste prueba de ello.

I was in Plaça Comercial, El Born with two friends to see ‘La Taronjada’, the celebration which is part of the annual Carnival. Before the so-​called ”The battle of oranges” which later turned out to be a orange colored confetti rain, we stopped by here for some refreshment and dessert. I had ‘Tinto de Verano’ which tasted just like Sangria and I’m sure it was and a portion of Carrot Cake which came with crunchy sparkling sugar inside that made me feel the cake was not made well. Finally bingo! My spoon was not washed well. I handed it to the waiter asking for a change and saying sorry. In return, he said ’ No I should be sorry’ which was nice.
From waiter to the bartender, they were in a super rush that day. The place wasn’t that crowd at all. At some point, I happened to ask for the password for wifi to the bartender. He gave me a fed up look like I asked him the rule of physics that allows traveling at the speed of lights. Seriously I’m the customer. I’m paying for your service, I’m nice to you, why do you act like your whole world came crashing down around you. In fact, I asked for password to check in their business on Unilocal which is in the interest of them.
Well there you go. Now you got a check-​in and a bad review of your own business because of your attitude. You happy?

Should be called Sandwich + WiFi + Friends. Good place to chill and eat a nice sandwich and catchup on all that Internet goodness on your iPhone.

There is nothing fancy about this place, but it was a good place to stop and have lunch on a busy walking day. It is near the park, where food is limited, so this place is a good place to load up before walking further.
It is really located in a nice under-​utilized area of Barcelona. There are several good places to eat and visit around here.

This is a cute stop with a lot of options that are very creative for sandwiches.
Service is great, the terrasse makes half of the experience you can people watch or stay inside if it is too hot.
Server forgot our fries that arrived once we were done with our sandwiches… lame. oh welll it happens.

Great place to have something to munch on while touring and shopping in the Born neighborhood. It is a very welcoming place with the décor similar to Big J’s Burger but offers more varieties. If you must have a hamburger or need to eat something and be on your way then this is the place; better than eating a hamburger in McDonald’s or Burger King for sure. They do not serve french fries but potato chips instead and the wait staff is nice but very slow like most of places in Spain. The place may get pretty crowded and noisy with the lunch crowd.

I may be obsessed with raw fish. While I haven’t found the sushi I’ve been looking for in Barcelona, I now have my salmon tartar. When Boyfriend and I sat down in the meager March sun, I saw a picture of delicious salmon tartar on a bed of pureed avocado and that’s what I wanted. Don’t care what else was on the menu. Don’t even talk to me about it. Bring me salmon.
To my surprise it came – looking even better than the photo. Instead of the light tortilla chips one expects in the US, it came with thin, buttered baguette toast, which worked quite well. Boyfriend ordered a humongous cheese burger with bacon and sliced beets. I’m a vegetarian, so I didn’t try it, but I am going to assume it was good as he said very little and his hands, shirt and face looked like the lowest budget zombie movie.
Even though we had passed this place several times the past year, we had always kept walking because it looks a bit like an over-​priced sandwich shop with a posh complex. In fact, it’s a cosmopolitan sandwich/​wrap/​diner perfectly at home in El Born or for a New York Style lunch.

für eine kleine stärkung während der shoppingtour eine super adresse. kleine leckere gerichte wie salate, sandwichs, wraps, zu mittagszeiten kombi-​möglichkeiten. dazu in einer belebten straße direkt neben der placa cataluna in der man schön die vorbeigehenden personen beobachten kann. gute preise u nettes personal macht die lokalität zu einem guten tipp.

Tengo que decir (1) que no me gusta usar la palabra «sandwich» cuando puedo decir «bocata», (2) que en general la palabra «friends» en cualquier establecimiento, la odio, y que (3) los diseños de Jordi Labanda (diferenciemos, porque a él, no lo conozco), no me apasionan especialmente.
Hechos colaterales aparte, no me parece un mal fast-​food –si es que de fast-​food estamos hablando-​. Sólo he probado bocadillos, nada más elaborado, pero no están mal. Para bocata y birra, en un entorno modernito como es el Born. No hace mucho, tenían WI-​FI –me imagino que aún funcionará; siempre un plus-​.
Y ¿el tema de los nombres? (sí, que los bocadillos tienen nombres de personas), pues, vale, una gracieta: puedes decir «ayer me comí a Albert, lo chupé, lo lamí y no dejé nada», o «María es barata» (en caso que el bocadillo sea barato).

Restaurante original
Es una forma divertida de comer bocadillos con sabores variados y originales, son rollos de pan de molde rellenos, ensaladas muy gustosas, las cantidades no son muy grandes pero no está mal. Hay varios locales en Barcelona, recomendable para gente joven que quieren pasar un momento agradable… La decoración es fashion y los camareros extranjeros. Trato normal.

Très bien
Un choix impressionnant de sandwichs: tartines de pain chaud, roulés de pain de mie froids ou chauds mais aussi des salades et des petites pizzas. Les garnitures sont très originales: pour ma part, j’ai choisi un roulé chaud au jambon cru, fromage tartare et dates… un regal ! Ce n’est pas excessivement cher et le vin et plutôt bon. Nous avons mangé à l’interieur (déco design) mais il y a également une grande terrasse située dans un quartier très animé ! A noter, un accueil au top, ce qui n’est pas souvent le cas à Barcelone !

Sans plus
Un peu cher pour ce que c’est, je n’ai pas trop apprécié l’ambiance un peu froide du lieu. Nourriture pas trop mal, rien d’exceptionnel quand même !

Sandwitch
Es un restaurante especializado en bocadillos y ensaladas. Hay un ambiente joven. Es algo caro.

Pas mal
Ambiance assez jeune 20 – 30 ans et le décor va avec car assez design, noir/​blanc avec dessin au mur comme on peut le voir sur la photo. Assez clean et prix plus ou moins abordables avec une moyenne de 5 € pour le samdwish. Passez-​y c’est assez sympa entre amis !
