Quiero volver cuanto antes!!!

I don’t normally buy in to the hype(see my review for Segun Emma), so I’m happy to say this place isn’t a hype. When I first came to Spain, I kept comparing it to France and I was left feeling unsatisfied after every meal, until now. The food was fantastic. Everything I ordered tasted different and delicious: pig ears, squid, asparagus and skewered pork. The service was fast and friendly. The waitress spoke excellent English.

Ummm.

Must order the potato foam with octopus pieces. Pig skewer taste a bit like lamb, half portion of guac w/banana chip was of big portion. Mojito sorbet was good too. Very friendly service! Will return for their paella.

We had multiple individuals refer us to this restaurant. Do make reservations if you can! It is almost mandatory. We had to wait for them to open and even then they couldn’t promise us a table. Food: Order about 5 items. I don’t remember the specifics but the food was pretty good over all. The pig ear was partially crispy and gooie at the same time. Delicious! Mojito icey to finish our meal. Service: Very friend/attentive staff. Environment: Plain Jane décor inside. This restaurant is located in like a sex row or something, there were tons of shots selling S&M stuff… Price: Moderately priced. Food: 4 Service: 5 Environment: 4 PRice: 4

Visited on a friday night therefore had to wait a little bit for our table, but the staff were informative and friendly and spoke english very well. The food was very good, especially the mussels in tikka masala sauce which isn’t something you expect in madrid! Likewise, the tuna tartar was nice and so was the fried octopus with mash. Overall, a very nice experience and a good atmosphere to spend your evening in!

We were on a tapas spree during our Spain trip but wanted something different from the usual tapas-fare and Gastromaquia fit the bill! We made reservations ahead of our trip and upon arrival, we immediately dug the modern and trendy yet intimate atmosphere. The employees were incredibly attentive(one of them spoke pretty good English) and happy to make menu suggestions and we were definitely pleased with our choices! TAPAS –Seared goat cheese with honey and basil oil: LOVED everything about this dish, perfect mix of sweet and savory and if goat cheese isn’t your thing, the honey really tones down the typically pungent goat cheese taste. –Pan-fried pigs’ ears: sounds weird but it actually tastes like super luxurious bacon. Very rich, best split among 3 – 4 people. –Scorpionfish stew with potatoes: sooo comforting and delicious, the fish is very meaty and fresh. –Shaved artichokes with balsamic vinegar: the ‘chokes were super thinly shaved and almost tasted like potatoes; very yummy and the balsamic vinegar was just the right touch. They gave us a «digestif» post-meal but yikes, we were not fans at all(can’t recall what was in it but no, just no). But the rest of our experience was muy fabuloso! If you’re looking for a unique tapas experience, I highly recommend you check this place out during your Madrid adventures!

Incredible. Amazing! Best food in Madrid in my opinion. Very gourmet and reasonable price. The waitress Sara is so nice, everything she recommended was amazing. We ordered the tuna tartar, queso a la plancha, octopus with potato, mejillones, and the mohito sorbet is top class! AMAZING! Espectacular. Lo mejor que comimos en Madrid. Gourmet. 100% recomendado. Volveremos!

The place was OK. They charged us for 2 portions of lobster with rice when we really only needed one. And it tasted like the lobster étouffée at Papadeaux. At best. Not worth $ 50. The appetizers were also just ok. We ordered guacamole with plantains — which was tasted like chips and guacamole. And the goat cheese was pretty good– but there was nothing to eat it with. The server was sweet but overwhelmed. There were only 2 in the whole restaurant. I’d recommend Casa Lucas if you’re looking for a place in Madrid.

Dining experience here was perfect. Servers to owner who is a chef here by name Hugo also were fantastic, attentive and you can tell that they want you to have quality services to quality food. You need to get there right when they open or might even have to wait out before they open since the place is tiny with limited seating.

Found this place on Unilocal and based on their front door/window, online«Best of Lists» find them often. The food was great and the atmosphere was low-key but fun. We got there right when it opened but it filled in quickly on a Monday night. Everything from the lobster rice, venison carpaccio, asparagus, and other dishes we ordered were phenomenal. The desserts were fantastic as well and the mimosa sorbet is a must try and the dragon gelato desert was awesome as well. The Sangrias were great as well. I highly recommend this place. Prices are reasonable and food is both delicious and unique.

Our experience was really mixed here. Our server helped us order and said we should order at least three dishes and at least one cold dish so we weren’t waiting a long time for our food. Probably one of the best things we did was order the guacamole because it did come out fast, but it seemed that the recommendation to order cold was due to the fact that the kitchen was backed up something fierce. We waited a long time for the rest of our food. Our food, all in all, was really salty. It was half our fault, and half the cooking. We ordered the seared pig ear and the octopus in potato foam. The pig ear is obviously going to be salty, but then more salt was added on top. It pretty much tasted of salt. The octopus was well cooked and delicious and the potato foam, which was more like a light potato soup, was tasty enough, but all of a sudden we would get overly salted bites which definitely dampened the dish. The saving grace of the meal was getting to know the servers and trying some of their different alcohol shots. I recommend doing a tasting if you have a chance. However, take this review with a grain of salt(pun intended). I didn’t try enough of the menu to tell you what was great. =/

I would like to first thank the staffs who’ve served us last night. Their service was outstanding! We found this restaurant through Unilocal and it’s my first review to write. When I told the staffs that it was my fiancé’s birthday they were very flexible, treated us with their BOMBNY cheesecake with a candle, and sang cumpleaños feliz for us! Reserved via phone(they speak English very well) and no matter how busy it got, they served each customer with full attention.(which is hard to come by in that area…) the food, all the plates we had(octopus with potato foam, tuna tartar, rabbit leg, ibelico skewer, tikka masala, Caesar salad with crispy chicken, yogurt foam with pineapple) were all out of this world! Worth the price, worth the hype, and worth another visit! Thank You Gatromaquia!

Very poor service. I know a few other reviewers mentioned this but it is true. Sat down on time with a reservation but did not have a server stop by for 15 minutes. Finally left without having had any contact from anyone who works there. Avoid this place if you want any type of service.

My previous review was removed, so I’ll repost: The place is popular, but the lady at the front is far from hospitable. Their wine undrinkable, a shame in Spain. Avoid at all costs. They are paying Unilocal to remove bad reviews.

Poor service comments are accurate. Sat at the table for 16 minutes and not one employee stopped at our table. We had a reservation and walked out. Do not bother going here!

Incredible food at generous prices. This place is a cannot miss. The staff is amazingly nice especially to a tourist and all speak English very well. Even better they are willing to help a lost american on his own navigate a complex tapas for groups menu. I would come back again any time. Hint for the tourist come in the winter or have a reservation apparently lines out the door in summer time.

I don’t even know where to begin. We shared 6 plates between three people and basically licked everything clean. My favorite dish were the mussels in tikka masala sauce. Unnngghhh. They were tasty. They also give you a ton of them so sharing wasn’t an issue. My next favorite dish was the salad. It was the first salad on the menu. I don’t remember what it was called. Womp. But it had green sauce around the outside and the lettuce was drenched in amazesauce. There was some type of meat in the middle with slices of orange! It was the perfect blend of sweet and savory. Next Id recommend the rabbit leg with mashed potatoes. It was cooked perfectly and the meat basically fell off the bone. Yum! Next would be the asparagus and the potatoes bravos. They tie because they both had a ton of cheese and were cooked with lots of dairy stuff which I tend to stay away from. The asparagus isn’t stringy or mushy which is a total plus and the potatoes are perfectly crisped. Yum! Lastly Id recommend the octopus. I usually love it but these bad guys were basically drowning in cream. The slices were also a little thick so the texture was a little off putting. Before you take off, try the mojito dessert! It’s sherbet with Bacardi!

The food is fine but the service can be dicey. Also there was definite added pressure to ordering more food and the final bill displayed higher price for certain dishes was a bit off putting. We made a reservation to come here and ordered 4 tapas entrees. It’s not to say we would want to order more food but I just had the heavy hot chocolate with churros so was still quite full. It was a bit too business-driven without the similar friendliness felt from other places we have been. Nonetheless, the food was delicious. We had patatas bravas(spicy potatoes), oreja(house-special pig’s ears), coquinas(tiny clams cooked in tomatoe and olive oil), and mejillones(mussels tikka masala). Perhaps it was an off-night as it’s Halloween.

I had the pleasure of eating at Gastromaquia with a group of friends during my trip, which included fellow Unilocaler Jennifer M. and I have the exact same opinion as her, we had a great experience here with awesome food. Even though we got to the restaurant once it opened that night, they were fully booked for the night, so first thing I would say is definitely make a reservation. We were lucky enough to sit at the bar so they could accommodate everyone, which fit all 8 people in my group. We were introduced to the menu by Chef Hugo, who spoke English very well and explained many of the items on the menu for us. Unbeknownst to us, we learned that Hugo has been apart of famous restaurants around the world so it did not surprise us that we would be eating some quality dishes here. We ordered many tapas dishes here and we enjoyed every dish. Some of the food worth mentioning that I loved were the Tuna Tartare, Pig Ears with sauce, Octopus in sauce, and Mussels in Tikka Marsala sauce. My personal favorites here were the octopus platter and Mussels in Tikka Marsala sauce. I could eat those platters all day. I even used some of the complementary bread to taste more of the sauce! What was a nice touch to eating there was that my group drank enough beer to tap out the beer keg so they had to refill it! For dessert, Hugo brought us over a recommendation they made, a Mojito Sorbet which was a delicious way to end a meal! Considering Hugo is around and speaks good English, I’d definitely recommend this to a spot for tourists who speak English. He was an excellent host, very talkative, and entertained us even though we were stuck sitting at the bar. I’d like to thank Hugo and the crew at Gastromaquia for one of the best meals I’ve had during my trip to Europe this year!

5.0 stars, even 5.5! I had bookmarked Gastromaquia for Madrid for my last trip, so we decided to make it a place for dinner while in the city. We arrived two minutes after opening and they immediately tell us that they are completely booked for the night. Thankfully, the stars were aligning for our group that night and we were told that they would still be able to accommodate us if we sat at the bar. We were rollin’ 8 people deep, but still managed to fit. Gastromaquia was probably the best overall meal and best dining experience in Madrid. Hugo and Sara made our whole evening! They spoke a ton of English, suggested a ton dishes and ALL of them were delicious! From the PIGEAR, OCTOPUS, MOJITOSORBET, and the TUNATARTARE. I would highly recommend making reservations for this place; I don’t think it seats more than 30 people at the time, 25 at that.

Me encanta la oferta gastronómica. Sensible y buena.
