Best grocery store around, in my opinion. Prices are very reasonable, but without losing quality(like food lion. Cheap, but very poor quality) Giant and Wegmans are too expensive, Walmart is too overcrowded. Mars is just right. There have been times where I’ve saved 30% with their sales. And the service is exceptional. They even have people who will help you put the groceries in your car, you don’t even have to ask! They just come up to you and offer to help. I am a true Mars shopper, their loyalty to the customer is wonderful.

I’ve shopped here a few times & have always been disappointed. So, I wasn’t surprised at their low Unilocal ratings. Their produce section, in particular, should be avoided. They mark down their produce by putting it on a Styrofoam tray and wrapping it in plastic. Not is that environmentally unfriendly, but it doesn’t allow the old produce to breathe so it goes bad quicker. Avoiding the marked down fruit, I purchased some pears. The cashier didn’t know how to ring them up, even after I told her what kind they were. She charged me for red pears, which weren’t on the shelf at the time. The pear smelled like seafood and didn’t taste right. In the past, I’d purchased different produce that was unsatisfying, but nothing like those pears. I don’t see any reason to ever shop here again, especially since there is another grocery store across the street. Also, this place didn’t have great sales.

Mars is fighting that eternal struggle — David(or in this case chain grocery store) vs Goliath(Walmart), and losing, or so that’s my opinion. Sometimes they have some good sales, and I like to get my produce and meat here if I can spare the extra trip, but most of the other stuff can be had at Walmart for a good deal less. They generally only have one or two registers open, and the parking lot is rarely ever full. They aren’t open too late either, so not a great choice for night owls.
