Merit Hotel & Suites

This hotel was booked through Hotwire as a last resort. Upon arrival I learned pulling up It’s been under construction. Upon checking into online I learned its been this way for months upon months.
Safety is a huge concern here. The main door isn’t locked anybody can stroll in off the street. The elevator seemed «small and shaky» so we opted for stairs. There are several windows with well… no windows. If I was to get depressed about my stay I could literally jump to my demise.
Everything here is dusty and dirty and I’m just praying I don’t get slammed by beg bugs.
I literally feel duped despite the $ 140 «reduced rate» I got. This place is a shit hole and if I clicked my heels 3 x I might wind up in Detroit hotel which might be an improvement. I hope they never charge more than $ 60 + tax per night
1 last note that there were 3 shady characters outside of the main side entrance smoking joints. Nice touch around my 12 year old.

Poor all around. Original room was not made up, despite checking in at 9 pm. New room had no shampoo. Next day the room key did not work because the hotel clerk only validated them for one day. After requesting shampoo for the second time, only conditioner was brought. No breakfast available. TV worked only intermittently. Refrigerator was extremely loud. Heater was extremely loud. At least the room seemed clean.
Business ended a day early, so tried to check out a day early. Clerk refused to issue refund for day not taken. Ripoff.
Would have given one star, but the La Quinta on West Bel Air in Aberdeen is soooooo bad that Merit rates above them.
