Awesome family fun day on the cheap! Admission was $ 7 for adults and under 3 is free. Now it wasn’t the Fort Worth zoo or anything, but still more than enough to make it really fun. Grounds were well kept, and lines were a very manageable length. Feeding the giraffes was a memorable experience that should not be missed! Just be sure to bring an extra $ 3 or 4!

Don’t miss this zoo if you are ever in the area! It is so well maintained with such a variety of animals. The new giraffe exhibit opens April 2016. I’m sure the biggest draw will be their adorable baby giraffe. Admission is ridiculously low and parking is free. There is a train and carousel to ride for he kids(and adults). There is a park just outside the zoo and an area to feed the ducks.

One of our favorite activities in Abilene! We frequent the zoo because it is easy to get around, and totally kid friendly. Fantastic variety of animals, almost all the exhibits allow you to safely get close to animals. Can’t wait for the new giraffe area to open, it’s beautiful!

Such a pity… The potential is palpable everywhere. However, due to the extreme heat, many a zoo animal seem to suffer their captivity way more than it is normally accepted. Those complain ing about animals hidind in the shades, should try surviving in the outdoors weather(easily reaching 120°F during the summer) for as long as these animals do. Though i am not big fun of zoos, i do realize that for maby kids, 5his is probably the only way to come across lemurs, zebras, pythons, giraffes, hippos and many other animals(temporarily) hosted in this zoo. However, a but more pride in this local gem and a lot more TLC to these beautiful creatures, their habitats and their well being would go a truly long way. Untill then, 3 stars of encouragement is all i can award.

Summer Zoo Camps are FANTASTIC! The Education Director Joy and her staff are knowledgeable, organized, but perhaps most important to me, friendly and welcoming. My son, age 9, LOVES these weekly camps. He gets direct, hands-on experience with the animals and learns about them and their environment in a fun, safe way. This past year, his camp group fed the Black Rhino. I like it because it’s affordable, educational and entertaining. It’s a wonderful opportunity — Don’t miss out!

Yes it is a small zoo, that is not the reason for the one star. The reason we felt it only deserved one star: the whole zoo was dirty, flower beds were OVER ran with weeds and talks ones! The animals enclosures were gross and in need of maintenance and attention. The over all zoo appearance was neglected and dirty. They are missing out — small zoo, some neat animals… clean up and be PROUD and I could see your visitors increasing

The Abilene Zoo is one of the features of our city that anyone can enjoy year round. There are lots of cool animals with easy viewing. The animals seam happy and healthy, I tend to go in the hot afternoons, so not always tons of movement but it’s still cool. The have a sloth!!! They put it way back in the corner in paradise cove. That should be right up front!!! As the main attraction and on all the advertising! The gift shop is an ice cold oasis after a walk in the park. The grounds are well maintained also, although I would like to see clear water in the pens. But I’m sure they are conserving. A huge plus is the size. It only takes about an hour or two to see every animal. I for one, can’t wait to see the new giraffe enclosure and bridge when it opens. It’s worth getting the annual pass.

I was so excited to finally go to this zoo. It was nice. I liked it. I had a lot of favorite parts. I was pretty bummed that the«giraffe safari» is being renovated because i was looking forward to feeding the giraffes but i will go back. Poor camels had to deal with everyone, children and adults like myself, saying«Mike Mike Mike!» Lol! But Im sure they’re not the only camels experiencing that nonsense lol. In all seriousness, it’s a nice zoo. I highly recommend it.
