If you like lots of salt on your food, all the food, this is the place for you. I don’t, so the food for me was not able to be eaten. I won’t be going back.

Sat at bar, server was Ava a student at ACU and very friendly and efficient… couldn’t have asked for better. Had appetizer of quails legs which were very goo and had meal… pork chop w/mashed/green beans. Not the best I ever had but good. Place is pleasant, well lighted and offers lots of steaks if you’re so inclined. Would definitely go back! Happy trails.

Love this place! We’ve been coming here since it was Joe Allan’s Definitely required dining in Abilene! The steaks are the draw for me. Service is 50/50, so don’t expect much there. think I overlook that bad days as the steaks are well worth the small sacrifice in service. Prices are what you’d expect in Abilene for the venue.

When you have happy hour, you’d think all is included with the drink, not here, They have $ 3 drink specials with $ 1 rocks.

Food is good! Leaving a 3-star because of service. We dined on 1÷15÷16, treated a guest from out-of-state. Waitress was extremely sweet, but ended up dropping one of our entrées on the floor. I’ve been a server, and completely understand hat mishaps happen! However, if the house makes a mistake, they should fix that mistake(I would always either discount that entrée 20% or offer a free dessert to be shared, depending on the manager present). They brought out the remade entrée 15 minutes later after everyone else had finished, but did nothing else. While our waitress was extremely apologetic, again, when the house makes a mistake, they need to somehow make up for that mistake. Frugality simply means we are taking our business elsewhere from now on.

A solid choice for steak with good service. One of the best steakhouses in Abilene. Burgers there are good as well. For those of you who have traveled and sampled top-flight steakhouses elsewhere, this won’t compare. … However, you’ll seldom get a bad meal or bad service here, making it a respectable three-star pick.

While visiting Abilene, a coworker had been here before and wanted to go again. Being from out of state, it was exactly what I thought a Texas-themed, in-Texas steakhouse should be! While everything on the menu sounded delicious, I ended up getting a filet. I ordered it medium and it came out perfectly. I don’t know the exact weight, but it was huge. I had a baked potato and salad with it… def try the vinegarette dressing! My coworker has the salmon with grilled veggies and loved it while my other coworker thoroughly enjoyed the bacon wrapped shrimp. I wish I would’ve known of this place the first day of my trip because I would’ve eaten here everyday! As for service, we didn’t wait too long for a table… maybe 5 minutes for the 4 of us… and everything was prompt. There wasn’t anything I didn’t like!

Service was okay but it was a Friday night, meaning it would be very busy. I ordered the farm raised quail and it was absolutely delicious. Great to pair with the mashed potatoes. Husband ordered steak fingers and said it wasn’t very flavorful. Great experience though. Would go back again for my choice of dinner.

Well, what’s the adage? Something about reviewers only saying something when they have a complaint? I’ve been going to Sharon Riley’s since is was Joe Allen’s, then Sharon Allen’s, then Sharon Riley. I guess now it’s Lytle Land and Cattle, though the sign out front doesn’t say so. My family and I come to Abilene for work, and on the last night we’re here, it has been tradition to go have a big, delicious, expensive steak. Well, something has changed since the last time we visited. From when we sat down something was off. The menus, which used to be featured in folding menu holders that were substantial and had a nice formal aesthetic, were a piece of legal size paper. The once favorite New York Strip was notably absent from the menu, a former favorite of my grandfather. When they brought the bread out, which is usually a temptation that is hard to resist, was very resistible. Formerly hot, soft, and rich, this bread was not stale but not supple, it lacked the buttery taste and melt in your mouth appeal of old. The salad was the cheapest iceberg lettuce you’ll find; the tomatoes less sweet and not as fresh. But all this is just the build-up, anyway. It had been the assurance that you had arrived at a top notch steakhouse. I ordered my favorite, the Texas T-Bone, medium, with a baked potato all the way. The baked potato used to be formidable. In the past you had to pick your battle with it or the steak if you wanted to put a dent in either. The potatoes that arrived on our plates tonight was diminutive and mostly tasteless, breaking apart into mealy halves that wouldn’t absorb the toppings or create the epic potato bowl of yore, in which you could stew butter, sour cream, and chives into a rich, sinful batter. Then came the steak. The first flap of meat laid in front of me was the size of a sirloin cut you may get at a lunch café. Instead of the ¾−1″ thick slab of beef that you used to procure with your $ 41 purchase, this was a shadow of those that came before it. I sent mine back to have one that hadn’t been overcooked and that I could cut into without having it fight back and throw my steak knife back at my head. 15 minutes later I got a similar cut that was cooked better, and didn’t put up as big of a fight. In the old days, finishing a Sharon/Joe Allen/Riley’s T-Bone was almost a novelty accomplished through pain and perseverance. In reality, you knew your $ 41 was probably buying you a piece of tenderloin for lunch tomorrow. Not so today. This steak whimpered and bowed to my will. I finished every bit, as did I my mediocre potato, and let me tell you folks, it didn’t hurt a single bit. That’s just not right. Amid my disappointment and disbelief, I began to observe that people around me were ordering things like Jalapeño Poppers and fried this-and-thats. Has Sharon Riley’s decided to become something like Texas Roadhouse, or some other(gasp) casual dining establishment? There were more people there than I remember, but not as many as in its heyday. If I could speak to the owners, I would beg them not to give up the fight of being a Texas Legend. I would encourage them to dust themselves off, get back on their horse and strive for the big, impressive cuts of steak that made the place. I would have them throw spuds like the one I met tonight to the curb, or perhaps take them down the street to Golden Corral, where they would fit in better. I’m sad to say, my T-Bone would have fit in perfectly at GC tonight. If I had a horn I would play taps. Perhaps you’ll play it in your head for me now, and we’ll remember the establishment, nay, the institution that was, Joe/Sharon Allen/Riley’s Lytle Land something, something, something…

While I am not a fan LL&C, it is very popular and a good place to go. Complimentary bread is very good. Service can be pretty slow. Food is good but just doesn’t wow me like this place should. We’ll be back, but only when someone else chooses.

This is a prefect place to stop while passing through Abilene, staff was great, food was amazing as well as fair prices, and comfortable western atmosphere. The hours are better than most the steak houses in the area, we tried going to several others but were not open between lunch and dinner hours.

You almost have to take out a loan to eat here. My husband and I ordered a couple of appetizers and drinks and a burger to go and our bill was over 50.00!!! Hate the atmosphere too. I am NOT a country person, but it’s cool for those that groove on country music, dead animal heads screwed to the walls and straw cowboy hats as far as the eye can see. Now I must say that the reason I gave 3 stars instead of 1 was because the jalapeño poppers were off the scale good! They are cut into little bite sizes and skewered with a tooth pick. AND they wrap them in bacon!!! OMG! However, for the price, I should have gotten full and needed a to go box to put the other 70 in.(That was wishful thinking and exaggeration, of course… I think we only got like 10 of them.)

Had a large group(15+) eating there tonight. Both food and service was excellent. Had several say it was one of the best steaks they had ever had. They did Abilene proud tonight and showed what true Texas cooking is all about.

Ok, time to review a local legend. It’s very country inside. All wood inside, maybe to resemble a barn. It dark inside and the sign said«seat yourself» so we went to the bar area. It’s about 5 degrees warmer than I would like. Overhead a waitress saying that she was sweating. And she never sweats. LOL Every order comes with free bread! Woohoo! Looks like it’s made here. I ordered the«Abileneian» a ribeye«33.00» a cowboy stew and jalapeño poppers. My wife ordered the pork chop. The jalapeño poppers were off the chain! Get these asap! Each jalapeño is cut into small bites and individually wrapped in bacon. Legit, better than my wife makes at home. She is soooo jealous right now. Making excuses about how she can’t make them this way. The stew portion was super small. It was potato in a sausage broth. Skip this one. It was was 3.00 It’s ok but the portion is really small. The mashed potato is very bland according to my wife. The pork chop was pretty good. Thin and not very filling but it had a smokey flavor of the pit or oven that they use. The steak was good also. Not the best steak I’ve ever had but it was a nice cut of meat, cooked to a perfect medium. Not much fat on it, it was bland also, as far as seasoning so ask for horseradish and add lots of salt. Over all I would rate this 4 stars. Losing a star for the inside temperature and bland potatoes also the portion of the stew is not worth the cost. The meat is on point but the pork chop was really thin. Go here and order the jalepeno poppers! The wait staff was nice also, nothing really out of the ordinary but not neglectful.

Had to come and review again… my previous review was 5 stars. Sadly, I can’t even give near that now. First, the menu has changed and among the items gone were my «cowboy» potatoes. My steak was cooked perfectly, but bland. We had cobbler, and it was soggy and not very good(like it had been covered in plastic and microwaved for us). It was also $ 10! The salad is lackluster. No cheese or eggs on it. The waiter said the ranch was homemade, but I don’t think it was. Wasn’t special and was thin. Our service was acceptable and our server(s) very friendly. The bread had a soggy texture like it was being kept in a steamer or something to keep it warm. It was not freshly baked. Not sure if we’ll come back when Perini ranch and Copper Creek are so close.

A must if you are looking for a great steak, always get the Abilenian. The jalapeño poppers are great too. And Monday is &2 margarita night, which isn’t bad either.

Disappointed overall. The food was okay, not great. Kids burgers were overcooked. Bacon-wrapped shrimp for my daughter was okay. Thought $ 29 for a 10 oz ribeye, potato and salad was a little high, especially for a «café» style atmosphere(butcher paper on table tops). Server was okay, but drinks always seemed low at our table. We ate there a few years ago and remember it being a nicer place. Don’t know if it’s gone down some over time or if my recollection was off. No reason to go back — other places have similar or better food and are less expensive. Ate a Texas Roadhouse a few weeks ago and would definitely rate that above LL&CC.

We really expected a better food experience here because of the name and reputation we have heard so much about. We are not at all hard to please but when we go to a restaurant that charges this much for entrees we do expect to get what we paid for. The best part of our meal was the waiter who was brand spanking new but ever so considerate and determined to give quality service. Our meal started out with a loaf of half cooked bread, cooked on top and raw on the bottom. Salad was decent but dressing was not. Grilled chicken was disappointing, not very sightly and lacking flavor. My husband’s burger was good, nothing extraordinary. I would not recommend thius restaurant to friend or family, disappointing and not worth the price. I will stop here although I really want to comment on the state of the restroom.

I have gone to Lytle for years. I can order without even using the menu and in the past it’s been nothing shy of great. Until last night. I will give this review 2 stars instead of 1 because the waitresses were outstanding to a party of 40. We all gathered for a 60th wedding anniversary. However, the food quality has dramatically dropped. I was appalled at the condition of a Sharon’s Ribeye($ 30) that I ordered with how much gristle and fat was on the piece of meat. It’s hard to say if they cooked my steak right to the medium rare that I asked for because all I cut in to was fat and no meat. I understand sometimes cuts come that way but for the cook to proceed with serving it makes me worry this restaurant isn’t as concerned about their quality like they used to be. To summarize: –Serving sizes across table were half the size they used to be. –Ribeye cuts should be marbled but not 50%+ fatty. –Baked potato was cold –Wife had the grilled chicken and it was dry and unseasoned. I genuinely hope this was just a bad experience and I will state that I will be back. Hopefully I get what I pay for next time.

I came in expecting a very high end steak house meal. It was a busy Monday night. No tables without a wait so as a single I sat at the bar. In ordered a pint beer, nothing special so I opted for shiner. I also ordered a half dozen oysters, a salad and the 16oz ribeye with red beans. The beer of course was nice and cold. The oysters came out after a few minutes and were in little plastic cups. They were not fresh and most were chewy, I should know better. The salad was average nothing special normal greens tomato etc. The steak was ordered medium rare and I chose red beans as the side. The beans were perfect! Spot on a little hint of black pepper and salt but other than that very simple and not over cooked or over powered. Now to the steak. For a restaurant that is known for steak and cattle I expected much more than received. The steak was cooked more pink medium well, it was bland and lacked flavor. It was not a tender cut of ribeye and for a ribeye steak tasted very lean. My guess is they have opted for low quality steaks to offset cost which was ver disappointing after all the reviews i read here. I am sure they have a great chicken fried steak but be cautious when ordering beef from here. Service was fine but food quality was very disappointing for the price.
