Poor hummus is over blended and has the consistency of yogurt. I was the only one in the restaurant and it took 35 minutes to get a chicken kabob. The attendant was sweet and nice, but she went to the kitchen and turned the radio up. It was very loud and uncomfortable. As I looked around I noticed the filth. The walls, mat, ceilings can use a good deep cleaning. I got grossed out by the place and cannot imagine what the kitchen looks like. A little effort in the seating area goes a long way.

One of the best gyros I’ve had in the States! There was absolutely nothing wrong with it. The meat was tender and juicy and delicious. The fries were fresh and made just for me. I asked for water, thinking I’d get a glass of it, but got a bottle of water instead, but that’s no big deal. Give this place your business; it’s quality and it’s reasonably priced.

The food is awesome, authentic middle eastern. The restaurant is clean and usually not crowded, prices are very reasonable. The owner is very personable, definitely worth visiting!

Just had lunch there with a buddy of mine. I had #26 and it was phenomenal; chicken with hummus and flat bread. What makes it fun is you can eat with your hands, though it does come out with utensils. Just break a piece of the bread, scoop up the hummus and chicken and go to town! Will be going more often!

Middle East is a legitimate Middle Eastern. The service is only outdone by how good the food is. The spicy chicken soup is delicious(and free) and the hummus was absolutely awesome. I had the Lamb Kabob sandwich for my main course and it was great. It came with a side salad that was fresh and very good. I would highly recommend this place to anyone in the Abilene area.

Middle East is fantastic! Chicken, beef, lamb, hummus, try anything on the menu and you will be pleasantly surprised. The owner is very passionate about providing high quality, delicious food. I was a little hesitant because I didn’t know what to order, but his recommendations were spot on. Everything is cooked fresh when you order it from quality ingredients. Save room for the homemade desserts.

Overpriced and not worth it. The soups are good, however, 11 $ for a plain Greek salad that was less than average and 8 $ for a small amount of hummus with two pita that wasn’t anything special made us never want to go back. The gyro was good, but not anything to make the other prices worth it.

First time trying this place and it was GREAT! Owner is super friendly and helped me pick out a dish since this was my first time ever eating Middle Eastern Food. Decided on the #18, beef and lamb gyro and it was AMAZING! Meat was full of flavor and super tender. While I was waiting for my order I was given some lentil soup and it was very good! I would definitely recommend this as a must try! Can’t wait to try some other dishes!

I lived in the Middle East for several years, so I am always in search of quality Arabic food. I was passing through Abilene and was excited to see such a restaurant with such great reviews. The owner is from Iraq and is a nice guy. The food, however, left something to be desired. The falafel was mediocre and the chicken shawarma wasn’t really cooked as shawerma. Tip: skip the hummus(below average) and opt for the baba ganouj(egg plant) appetizer only and split an entrée. The owner offered complimentary soup to all patrons and that was pretty good. It’s nice that there is something like this in Abilene; it’s better than nothing!

Delicious. I don’t even know what else to say. The owner is engaging and makes the experience unique, the hot soup is incredible(my wife said the lentil was great too), and the food was outstanding. Finished with baklava and coffee with cardamom. The owner is a unique patriot and has probably done more for this country than most that were born here. Definitely coming back!

Possibly one of the best places I have eaten at in Abilene. Have to say if you don’t like flavor and really want some bland food, this isn’t the place to go. Got the meat platter and had hard time finishing it. Used the salad dressing provided to tone down the meat just a little. Place does need a little updating, OK a lot of it.

Driving through Abilene and decided to try this place on a whim — we really enjoyed it! We were immediately welcomed by the owner’s sweet daughter, as well as the owner himself. We tried the beef and chicken skewers, chicken shawarma sandwich, hummus and baba ghanoush, falafel, and makluba. All delicious! Food was freshly prepared and nicely spiced. The children were also sweet and engaging. Will stop by if we come through Abilene again!

Loved this place. My girlfriend and I decided to try something new and we found a new favorite place to eat! Had such a wonderful experience and it made us feel like we left boring abilene for just a little bit. The owner was great and was very interactive with us and kept us laughing!

I’m not from Abiline, and only come here occasionally for work so thanks to Unilocal I stumbled upon this little place. Rarely do I find a place that takes me back to the time I spent in the middle east 20 years ago(or so). This did it for me. Kafta is so good, it took me back to this little blue shack on the suez canal where they rolled the lamb by hand and put it right on the fire in front of you then slapped it on the bread and you were on your way. The dolmas are cooked perfectly. The hospitality is second to none. I love this place, and I’ll definitely come back next time I’m in town. Shokran.

What a find! Came here on a recommendation, and glad I did! The flavors are awesome, seemingly authentic(although I’ve never been to the Middle East to speak of!), but be warned; if it says spicy it’s SPICY. Awesome. I’ll definitely be back.

Sabah provides great service. The lentil soup is fantastic to start. For a small dive, I recommend this place. Easy to miss since it doesn’t face the road. But you will be glad you found it. Bring some culture to your taste buds and try this place out.

— No public bathroom; only hand sanitizer available; tables were dirty — Food portions were small but the prices were hefty; Pitas tasted like they were microwaved — Turkish Coffee was expensive and horrible — They have bottle water but it’s extra — We read reviews and could not understand why this place was rated so high; we’ve had better hummus from the grocery store

What can I say except I loved it! Now, this food is different so probably not for everyone. I started with the free spicy chicken soup. This soup is VERYHOT but delicious. I had the 3 meat entrée. Chicken was good but beef and lamb were outstanding. I had seconds on the lamb. The owner talked to is for a while and told us his story. Very interesting. And last, the baklava was heaven. You need to try this place. One thing, no ice tea. Bottled water and soft drinks or some middle eastern coffee.
