I really like Red Bud Park. It’s a great place to take the little ones(when the weather isn’t too hot/cold) to play on the playground and look at the prairie dogs. I like to run around the tracts and stop at the workout stations. The park definitely needs more trees or shade, as it gets pretty sweltering during the summer months.

One of Abilene’s better parks. I was there for balloon fest. Running track, playground for kids, and of course, the prairie dogs! Not a lot of shade, but no park in Abilene does.

One of the nicer parks in Abilene. I like to take the dog on walks along the trails, & let the munchkin run his energy off on the playground. The play area is a good size, & there is a smaller playground for younger kiddos; both with woodchips. If i get a moment to myself, this is a nice place to go for a run. We love to visit the prairie dogs too! My only complaint is that I wish there were more trees, it can get super hot in the summer.

As far as my Pug Winston is concerned, this is the best place in the whole universe. And he should know — as he has probably marked every single tree, pole and trash can since we started walking here seven years ago. It has walking trails that vary in length from one mile to 1.5 miles. They are level and paved, and fairly uncrowded on even the sunniest of days. This park offers several workout stations spread out over the track. There’s a playground for the kids and several areas for kids to play ball. What makes this particular park unique is the«prairie dog town» that gives kids of all ages the opportunity to get(sorta) up close and personal with the furry vandals who live in the Redbud area. I say vandals because these prairie dogs are not just limited to their little walled in community. You have to be very careful when walking across the grassy areas over the park so that you don’t end up losing your footing in one of the prairie dog holes that are scattered around the edges of the trails.(Don’t ask me how I know this.) It’s a great neighborhood park where you’ll find the friendlier folks walking earlier in the day. Night time folks tend to get a bit iffier, but the trails are well lit and it’s in a decent neighborhood.

I love the prairie dog«town» here! Seriously, I might have to limit how many times I go to this park. My boyfriend wants to start working out on the track but I know if we do I will always want to drag him over to see the adorable little fur balls after each run.

I agree with Miriam about this being a great place to run before sunset. I come here often to do the loop(though I’m getting bored with my workout so Redbud and I are on a break).

A great place to go for a run or walk in Abilene.(i.e. A great place to check out hot guys run while shirtless.) jk. Seriously, I like this park because its not on a busy street and its not crowded with weirdos… at least not often. The tract is like 1.5 miles if you go the long way. Along the tract there are workout stations. Fun to stop and do some sit ups or pull ups. There’s occasional trees but it can get sweltering on a hot summer day. In the summer it is nice to go for a run like 20 minutes before sunset. At other times its great any time of the day. This is my fave place to run in Abilene.
