I may have only lived in Abilene a few years, but the Whataburger logo still makes me feel all warm inside. It’s not because it’s the best burger in the world, or even Texas. They aren’t even really consistent enough for me to associate them with the idea of fast food perfection. But it will always hold a special place for me. So many late night hang out sessions here with friends. Pigging out at 2am. Impossibly deep conversations about nothing. Those memories make the food seem that much better. And that’s not to say the food is bad, oh no… When Whataburger is on their game, you are treated to one of the finest fast food meals in the state. Definitely the best burger chain. A lot of Texans try to argue that it’s way way better than in n out but I’m not even going to dignify that backwards statement with more than a second of my time. I will say that Whataburger is like the Texas version of In N Out. They both sell you an unusually delicious burger, make it fresh to order, and charge you quite a bit more than other places. But that’s about it. What Whataburger does have to offer is a bigger menu. They have several exciting burger options, like the green chili double, the patty melt, and my favorite, the avocado bacon burger. They also have chicken strips and sandwiches. You have to try the Honey BBQ chicken strip sandwich. It’s crispy fried chicken smothered in tangy BBQ sauce and melted cheese served on buttery Texas toast. It’s every bit as wonderful as it sounds… when you get them on a good night. But like I’ve hinted at already, the fact that it’s open all night is equally important as the delicious food. You and your best buds can come here at any time of day and the friendly staff will accommodate you. If you decide you need a heavily customized burger at 4am with a large fry and strawberry milkshake, Whataburger will be glad to cook it for you… And charge you like $ 21, but that’s beside the point. Whataburger has a line around the building at 12am for a reason! I quickly became a believer, and I think you will too!

Why the 5 stars? BECAUSE this place was open and wonderfully staffed on a crazy cold snowy and icy winter day(early 2014). Closed were the schools, closed was the nearer Taco Bell. Closed were almost every other stores… but i was in a hotel with not much food choice, walked rather than driving through icy streets… I came here and was welcomed with a warm smile and such a heartwaeming care and concern i almost started crying… and, when i stated i wanted to add an order of burger and fries for an homeless man, they put extra fries and offered a free large coffee). AND, to top it all off… i was able to hop a drive back to the hotel… Oooh, and the look on the homeless man… PRICELESS!!!

I remember eating here as a kid and all I can remember is how good the cinnamon rolls were. Someone was telling how good the Hamburger were so I had to check it out. I ordered a double green chili cheese burger with avocado and it was sheer bliss. I devoured that burger and now I am hopping to have a few burbs later so I can savor the flavor. That appearance outside inst fancy but who cares the burgers are amazing!

Bar none, this is my favorite burger in Abilene. I’ve probably eating over 1,000 in the 9 years I’ve lived here. I also love the fact that their open 24⁄7. Nothing like going their at 2:00 in the morning to get my whataburger on. Keep up the great work Whataburger… you rock

Cleanliness 5/5, service 5/5, honest about some selection have onions from the source, an not remove them. I like when they try to help with selections once they know your limits. Cooking time for fresh food was minimal. Table device. Really been a while since we had been here. Really great burgers.

I’m changing to 4 stars. Not because the experience itself got better but because of the timely and well written note I received from the Manager. Obviously they take complaints seriously and want to make it better for their customers. I will be trying them again soon. Original review — — — — — — — - Disappointing. Got a BOB at 430am and it had obviously been sitting under a heat lamp. Dried out and very bland. Very little business at this time of day so it shouldn’t have been hard to make something fresh.

I love the food at whataburger! Everything I’ve ever tried has always been top notch, for a fast food chain. The drive thru takes forever, though. I always make sure my phone has a full charge or bring a book with me when I stop by. Once I was in line for 23 minutes. Even then, I was asked to pull off to the side after placing my order.

Man — I hate to leave a one star review; but it’s only because I had a decent biscuit for breakfast from this location that they got that star. Whataburger is a Texas favorite and is typically a favorite of mine. Obviously, if this was my second meal there today, I can be considered a regular Whataburger customer. Not any more. I ordered my typical #1 with cheese, fries and a Diet Coke. What I got was a cold burger — cold, not warm. The fries were barely warm, not hot I also got a regular Dr Pepper instead of Diet Coke. I should have know they were screwed up tonight because it took over 15 minutes for four cars to go through. When I got to the window, she repeated my order and I asked if I could get a large diet Coke. Then she told me it was $ 16 something and tried to give me the wrong order… Terrible food, poor service — I think one star is generous.

Whataburger Has the best«fast food» hamburger around. Their onion rings are fantastic, and their chicken sandwich isn’t bad either, This locations customer service is outstanding — Granted Most are, but this one takes it to a different level. Employees seen genuinely happy, They greet you with a smile, listen attentively to get your order right, use manners(i e — Thank you, have a good day, etc) and go that extra mile to make your visit a good experience. I have visited this location two times. Once during the lunch hour and once a little after midnight — Both times same result. It is hard to get good customer service like this even at a sitdown restaurant. Customer service at fast food restaurants is a pet peeve of mine, so that is why I I am going overboard on the customer service — And no, I do not know anyone or am I related to anyone who works here.

I moved to Texas from the midwest, and this place was my first experience with Whataburger. In fact I’ve not eaten at any other except this location. If you’ve never eaten at a Whatabuger you might not think their selection is very big so heads up on that but they do have some customization items that help such as green chilies, jalapeños, and of course cheese and bacon. The flavor of their burgers are great. I don’t think I could stomach looking at the health info on the patties but OMG they are tasty. It is definitely great to taste juicy meat and not just the toppings places stick on them. The Whatabuger and the Double Whatabuger will not disappoint but I would highly recommend the patty melt, the montery melt, and the chicken bites. OHOH, and do yourself a favor and order a side of gravy to dunk your fries in… its amazing! People working here are really friendly.

Trying all the favorites. Patty melt and green chili double both very good. A-1 burger is next!
