Stopped at Figaredo’s in the midst of a long journey home to Tennessee– we hadn’t eaten in 8 hours and chose Figaredo’s in hope of a quality, yet reasonably quick meal. While the food was tasty, it took 1 ½ hours to get our food. If given the option, I wouldn’t go back. The servers were in no real hurry to bring our food or the check. The pasta dishes run you $ 21+, the salad $ 11+, and it’s not a lot of food. Being vegan, my best bet was either a salad, or a pizza with tomato sauce and veggies only. My suggestion is to ask your server for a customized salad. I ordered mine with dates, walnuts, sprouts, asparagus, romaine, and artichoke hearts, with balsamic vinaigrette dressing. NOTE: My boyfriend is also vegan, and ordered a pizza that did not list cheese as a topping, yet it came out covered in cheese. It was a frustrating meal to say the least.

One of our favorite meals! We started with the goat cheese salad! Wow is all I can say. Perfect portion with a great combination of flavors and a great dressing. Husband had the salmon. Cooked to perfection and the glaze was delicious. I had the seafood risotto. Fantastic combination of flavors. The risotto was cooked perfectly –not heavy. The service was very attentive and friendly. This is not the place to go if you need to be in and out in 45 minutes. Enjoy the paced delivery of your meal. Laugh and talk. We had drinks followed by our salads and then our dinners about 20 minutes later. Total mealtime was about an hour and a half. This is the way a meal should be served.

The service was really good, but if I was just basing this on food, I expected better. I ordered the Figa-Pizza($ 14) which is ok but for an italian specialty restaurant it should’ve been better. The choice of toppings was unique, I liked that it had shrimp and cilantro but I think they should had a better base sauce and maybe better cheese. The next time I want pizza I will opt to go to mellow mushroom instead. Two of my friends ordered the seafood pasta $ 21, but it tasted more like a $ 8 – 10 dish. The pasta is homemade and my friends said it was undercooked. The sauce tasted like regular Alfredo, but I think the real downfall to the dish is the«seafood». The seafood was not fresh, they used baby scallops and had no mussels in them. The clams were rubbery and they used baby shrimp. Lastly, the fourth friend ordered the pasta mateo which is prosciutto and duck stuffed ravioli in a red wine sauce. The way the dish was prepared, you can’t taste the duck, which is sad because that is supposed to be the highlight of the dish. Also, you can’t really taste the red wine in the sauce. It taste more like an oyster sauce mixed with… soy sauce? After entrees we didn’t feel the need to try their desserts. On the bright side, the wine was good.(pictures to follow)

Mostly everything we’ve tried has been good after 3 visits. However, we had calzone’s last Wednesday and the overall taste in both the calzone and the sauce was salt. Very briny. Chef needs to watch this, my opinion of course. We’ll try again!

Chose Figaredo’s over Rain for my birthday dinner. I heard they made their pasta inhouse. The staff was friendly, professional and knowledgeable. I had seafood pasta and my fiancé had a house salad and prosciutta pizza. We found both of our dishes a bit salty. His might not be a surprise but mine was. The pasta was good and I enjoyed it but I would never had known it was fettechini(Lord help me spell Italian food words) if they hadn’t labeled it as such. Our tab was reasonable, the owner was very hospitable and my dish was packed with seafood. All in all it was good but… ps the place is very clean and comfortable.

Amazing restaurant! I have eaten here several times and each item we have tried was delicious. Tonight we had duck ravioli and seafood risotto. We had cilantro soup as an appetizer and tiramisu for dessert. Service is great too!

I was actually very disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. The staff and owner were very hospitable; however the food was average — this may have something to do with the fact that Mr Figaredo’s wife and apparently the head chef was not working that night. The duck ravioli was way too salty — 2 other diners agreed — and the pizza we ordered was cold and bland. We ordered a kids portion spaghetti which we were told was served with a bolognese sauce, but there was no meat to be seen. The tiramisu was sadly the worst I have tasted for a long time and not one diner at our table finished this dessert. I hope this restaurant does succeed and perhaps it was just an off night for this establishment

Elegant décor, great location, and yummy food! I was so excited to find yet another high quality restaurant in Abingdon. The homemade duck filled ravioli with red wine reduction was superb. I can’t wait to try their pizza!

Figaredo’s has moved uptown into a gorgeous new space and is offering a menu that is competitive with Rain and The Tavern and other uptown eateries. They make their own pasta. I had the duck and prosciutto with a red wine reduction last week and it was delicious, as was the goat cheese salad. Give it a try!

In short: an extremely enjoyable experience. We highly recommend Figaredo’s. We arrived at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, expecting to find the place packed after having read several good reviews. Instead, the place was empty … which at this point is hard to believe because the food was great and the décor/ambience lovely. We ordered the bacon and sage wrapped shrimp appetizer, which came on a plate drizzled with a flavorful pesto and balsamic vinaigrette, and garnished with grape tomatoes. My only complaint with this dish is that there might’ve been four shrimp instead of three, to make sharing a bit more convenient. Otherwise delicious. Nice char on the bacon, very appealing presentation. Next we had the goat cheese salad, which was four sliced tomatoes topped with sliced goat cheese, on a bed of baby greens, walnuts, and sliced avocado, drizzled with a honey mustard dressing. The bite of the dressing really balanced well with the relatively sweet, mild cheese. Only complaint here is that the tomatoes did not seem fresh: although it IS well-nigh impossible to get quality fresh tomatoes this time of year. Finally, we ordered the prosciutto pizza. It was flavorful, crispy, and really satisfying. My house chianti was fragrant, rich, and smooth. And the staff topped it off with a complementary tiramisu. Service wasn’t dazzling, but it was friendly, prompt, conscientious. SO – stop here all ye who travel here!

Disappointing. Food only okay. Prices high. Owners very nice. Hope they succeed but they need to improve quality and lower prices.
