Stopped in for dinner while traveling for business. The restaurant is very charming and is located in the historic downtown area. The service was great and the food was quite good. I had the crab cakes and while they’re not MD quality, they were pretty good. I would definitely return when the area again.

We went there for wings and drinks. They have a great atmosphere, friendly staff, and the martini’s and wings are awesome! Everyone’s food that went by looked and smelled so good that we are going to save room before going there again. Can’t wait to go back to Abingdon just to eat there!

A variety of lunch choices. I enjoyed a steak quessadilla with salad. Delicious! Dined in a small upstairs bedroom of a converted victorian house looking out over Main St. My picky teenage son even had several choices. He went with the cheesesteak.

I was not as impressed as those who given this high marks. Service was slow but friendly… and entrée was over salted. Disappointed!

The most perfect display of mediocrity –a mix of both good and bad. Great building with OK décor,. Good service but not great. Very weak wine list. Soup was Good, fried oysters were good. The ribeye was great, perfect temp. Thank God I didn’t let them put molasses and butter sauce on it. Crab cakes were weak at best. Bread was tasteless even with the pecan butter. Mashed potatoes were runny and also had no taste. Maybe a little butter please. Can someone please tell Restauranteurs that we are tired of having mashed potatoes and asparagus every time we have steak. Particularly in a place when there are no good options to substitute. When your prices say you are a medium to high end restaurant, the little things mean a lot. I would pay the extra and go down the street to the Tavern.

We had a fabulous meal with friends here last week and we enjoyed it so much we’re going back next week. The food was great — everyone raved about their dishes! We sat upstairs and the atmosphere was wonderful. The staff were very attentive and their timing impeccable. Don’t miss this lovely restaurant. They really know how to do things right here.

Gave this place a try while visiting some friends in the area. & words can not describe how good everything was I mean the service the wine heck the bread it was all good. Now as for the food. Simply jaw dropping I ended up with the Chicken Marsala when I took that first bite oh pure heaven. It was rich but oh so good. Great atmosphere nice and cozy had the fireplace going. But if anyone is ever out this way check it out. I HIGHLY recommend it.

Based on positive Unilocal recommendations, I gave this place a try while traveling in the area. I join the consensus and was not disappointed. I had lettuce wraps, mushroom soup and rainbow trout. I ate far too much but it was delicious and the service was excellent.

Mushroom curry soup with orange marmalade. Need I say more? Visited for lunch today and wow! Had the special which today included beef medallions over Gouda and risotto with tomatoes. Everything was perfect! I was in and out in 25 minutes which is truly an accomplishment when it’s this fresh. Will be returning regularly.

My mother and I like to have lunch here when I come to visit her. They have a lovely po boy made with fried oysters. We also love anything with the fried green tomatoes. They also have a mushroom soup with marmalade, it’s breathtaking.

Sorry to say our experience was disappointing. Enjoyed sitting on the porch on a beautiful evening. Server was nice but slow to deliver food. Food was very mediocre and overpriced for what we received. Don’t get the Nantucket chicken. Soups were OK but nothing special.

Our waitress was super considering she had to deal with a family of 10. They make a terrific sangria and the entrees were varied and delicious. The pork tenderloin stuffed with spinach and feta cheese was awesome. The amibiance is quaint as it is an old pre_1900 home with lush dark wood trim. Dinner for two with drinks was $ 68.

Great food and service in this cozy and beautiful old house surrounded by wood panels, beautiful furniture and décor. A must when you happen to be in this awesome historic little town in the heart of Virginia. I had an orgasmic mushroom soup with orange marmalade and a hint of curry and the best gourmet sandwich I’ve had in a long time. If you think a sandwich is just a sandwich, you’re very mistaken! You HAVE to try this place!!!

The meals of steak and fish were just okay. It was over priced for the quality of food and presentation. The wait staff was excellent and the atmosphere very nice. Maybe the chef was having an off night.

They moved. Even better location. And the same amazing food. Can wait to eat here weekly. By far the best lunch I can ask for. If they sold stock I would buy it all.

New Location! Great food. My wife and I met friends for lunch and they told us The Peppermill reopened at a new location. 231 w. Main st, Abingdon. This is the location of the former House On Main that closed recently. Three of us ordered their Mill Cheeseburger and were very impressed. It was well prepared, juicy and tasty. A little pricey but not outrageous. Hopefully their dinner prices will remain modest. We’ll return.

Had a wonderful meal here while in Abingdon for work. The front desk clerk at the hotel I was staying at said it was one of his favorites and I can see why! The atmosphere is pretty eclectic and the service is friendly and prompt. I enjoyed a balsamic ravioli dish with chicken and veggies. The sauce was light and perfect. My coworker had the trout and love it. We also shared fried green tomatoes, which were great for a starter, and key lime pie for dessert. They also have a great wine selection. It was a great experience and I will definitely be visiting again the next time I pass through town!

At best, I eat here once a year while traveling in the area, but this is my go-to dinner spot when in Abingdon. The outside doesn’t look like much, but the inside is nice. Service is always great, and the food is consistently well-prepared. They make a mean dry martini, too.

The atmosphere will surprise you! It doesn’t look like much from the outside, but very modern on the inside. I had the rainbow trout and my colleague had the pork tenderloin. We were both fat and happy on the way out.
