I came Labor Day weekend and it was the only place with vacancy and $ 125 a night. Later I found out that it normally it is $ 25 a NIGHT, which may be why people don’t feel like it’s that bad if they pay only $ 25! Actually the day of our trip… one day AFTER I booked, the place was discounted 50% off, no adjustment made of course, especially under . It was dirty, it took FOREVER to check in… by PAPER and the rooms were grossly outdated and smelled of mildew. Don’t get me started on the weird coin smelling water and the holes in the towels and dirty blinds. I always bring sheets, towels and pillows, just in case a place sucks, and I was SOGLAD I did. THe smell of mildew was so strong I ended up with a sore throat in the morning. We had two room, and the one on the end was literally lopsided. We got a different room, that was apparently the family’s spare room, the closet was full of their closes and it smelled like curry. The only thing helping this place is that it is 14 mins to casinos, but there are a million other hotels on this strip too that are way better, and also reasonably priced. The terrible room did make us spend most of our time other places, like dancing until 4 am and having breakfast by 9 am. Definitely will not be returning and possibly calling a health inspector.

For what you are paying(next to nothing) it is what it is: a cheap motel close to the shore. However, the owners could probably spend a wee bit more time keeping it maintained. The Bad: It had a slightly mildewish smell on the carpet and most of the furniture was broken or duct taped together. There was no microwave(contrary to the website’s claims). The door lock didn’t really seem very secure. Hair clogging the tub drain. The Good: The owners were super friendly. The bed was big and comfy. Lots of TV channels. Convenient location in relation to Atlantic City. The AC was powerful. It was cheap.

Not necessarily royal, but if you’re looking for a cheap alternative within minutes of the boardwalk, this is a good option. The staff was friendly, there was free wifi, parking, and it was only 25 a night on Priceline! My room had a faint cigarette smell and one of the pillows was stained and there were a few hairs– which is why I took off stars. Otherwise, I found the room to be clean and I slept well and had a decent shower. If you are a sensitive sleeper, there is a lot of noise because the motel is right on the highway, so you do hear cars whizzing by. The continental breakfast said it started at 6:30, but when i went to the lobby at 7, nothing was out. I asked the man at the front And he offered me an individually wrapped cheese danish? I said i just wanted some coffee and he went in the back for a few minutes and i heard the microwave– totally instant, yuck! Other than that, cheap and not horrible.

Crap motel. Owner claimed motel was booked except their«premium room», which was a dirty, cheap room with rotted bathroom walls, a dead bug on the floor, and a dirty tub which my GF wouldn’t even take a shower in. Meanwhile their parking lot had the same 5 cars in it at 1AM as it did at 9AM, so unless their guests walked there, the owner’s claim of full was a ploy to convince unwitting guests to rent their«$ 69 «Premium» room. And they have the nerve to offer AAA discounts, as if AAA would ever be associated with something like this motel. Then there’s the amenities. The shampoo and conditioner is in very small envelopes from a dollar store that wouldn’t be enough to shampoo a bald head. And a «continental breakfast» of Tang breakfast drink and a dollar store pastry both of which we needed to ask the owner for, which she retrieved from her kitchen in the back of the 6×8 office . Don’t know which hotel the review was for that gave this Dive 4-stars but better to spend a few dollars more and not feel like you’re staying in the backwoods of Appalachia.

Royal Lodge has vastly improved since my last visit. The marsh is no longer, which became a breeding ground for mosquitos and green-eyed bees! LOL! The entire interior & exterior of the hotel has been totally revamped. Quite a far cry from its former shambled self. Royal Lodge is also one of the few hotels on White Horse Pike that is pet-friendly. I have no idea if an automatic air-freshener can be found in each room, but my room had that very thing. The owner/manager is very friendly, which is always a plus. Parking spots have your room number, yet they do not correlate to the exact location of the room. In the end, for its price & location, Royal Lodge is far better than most motels on White Horse Pike.

What is the Royal Lodge? When you think of Atlantic City, what do you think? Trump, Caesars, Showboat! The four and five star big-shot hotel casinos. Now as a casino, these locations are A plus! I do have a problem however with paying $ 192. Per/Night to stay at one of these places. Soooo… needless to say, when my girlfriend and I decided to gift AC with a few days of patronage this past summer, we decided to stay in a hotel a little off the beaten path. The Royal Lodge is a smaller(compared to the hotel-casinos) hotel, with a nominal three to four minute drive to the boardwalk, bars, shows, and gaming. The hotel was clean(for the most part), well stocked, and yet simple. We were greeted in the tiny lobby by a older man, who gave us each a purple Gatorade…(what?!) lol. He was nice, and actually walked us to our room. Once inside we were greeted by a simple room, with some surprising amenities as well. We had digital cable, a game system, a jacuzzi, and a refrigerator/bar. The bed was a nice size, king. It was a bit on the mushy side though. I have a thing with beds that are overly mushy… or maybe springy is a better word. The only gripe I really has was the bed and the a few small back hairs we found WHILEIN the jacuzzi that night. Needless to say… we wore bathing suits while in the jacuzzi-tub. I truly think this was enough to drop the rating a whole star. I mean, c’mon guys… pubes in the tub… not good! Overall there was a free continental breakfast in the morning. Some bagels, muffins, fruit, cereal, juice, and coffee. The rooms were clean… except for our jacuzzi guests. Rooms were well stocked, and prices were great. There is nothing fancy, or exceptional about this hotel, its just a decent place to stay when you making $ 32,000/ yr.
