Hudson Valley Seed Library

Not only does HVSL offer amazing seeds that can grow bountifully in the Hudson Valley but their packaging is off the charts. Each year they have artists design their seed packet covers and each one is more gorgeous than the next. I have been very successful with my grow rates and their unique heirloom varieties are not just a feast for the belly but make for a stunning garden.
One of my particular fascinations this growing season is Kale. There are so many varieties and I cannot seem to get enough of it. Luckily HVSL has many offerings, my favorites being Ragged Jack and Red Russian, and we are blessed with a long growing season affording a sow or two or three. Not only do The L. and I love it but our flock of heritage chickens love it too. Hopefully we can keep them out of it!

This service is also wonderful because it focuses on education, and gets local artists to design the seed packs. What’s not to like?
