Great Gelato here. Wife and I came here tonight as a wrap up to our date night. Drove past it a few times with the intent to eventually try it and tonight was the night. I decided to try the Belgium Sugar Cookie. Tasted amazing. Apparently, according to the staff, it’s a popular flavor and I see why! Perfect amount of sweetness with a nice crunch. The ice cream itself is very smooth in texture. The small scoop isn’t bad. It looks small but it’s actually quite suitable. They have a nice loyally program that gives you a free small scoop after 5 visits. Definitely worth a return.

I went to Gelato D’Oro today for the 3rd time, and each visit has been a pleasant experience. The owner, Michael Merando has a passion for fine food, and it definitely shows if you visit this café. My wife and I both ordered half Belgian Cookie and half Oreo — very delicious! It’s a wonderful atmosphere and I am certainly going again!

Best gelato!!! I’ve been here multiple times and it keeps getting better and better! I had a family event and purchased the 1.5 gallons of the tiramisu. HUGEHIT!!! Everyone loved it and kept going back for more! Definitely very impressed with the quality and flavored that they offer. Extremely nice and informative owner who not only knows what he’s talking about but loves what he’s doing. This place is amazing!!!

Stopped in here tonight as I had dinner with friends nearby, and everyone wanted to check out this somewhat new ‘gelato’ place… it was a beautiful night to walk around and take in the breathtaking views from the sky above, ahhhhhhh… The interior is cozy & cute and employees were friendly. There was a group of people sitting outside enjoying their treats on a few patio tables when we walked in… and there was a decent line out the door as well… I thought, this must be really good gelato? By the time we got to the counter to order, they were out of a number of flavors. Of course the flavors they were out of were the exact ones I would have ordered… I just chalked it up to: it wasn’t meant for me to enjoy a «Baci» gelato(my absolute favorite candy in the whole world). Baci’s are Italian dark truffle chocolates with chopped hazelnuts and coated in dark chocolate, topped with a whole hazelnut — now, imagine this in gelato form… and imagine was all I could do. My second choice, would have been Pistachio(yes I’m a fan, and love nuts!!). I can only IMAGINE what this would have tasted like since, you guessed it, they were out of this too… I was able to get a small scoop($ 3.50) of the Tiramisu… and friends ordered the chocolate gelato. They top it with a thin wafer cookie. I very well may be rather snooty when it comes to gelato. I’ve had some in the States that are comparable to Italy… After tasting the Tiramisu, I really could not pinpoint anything ‘Tiramisu about it’ other than a mild coffee flavor. Had they named this Coffee gelato, I might agree, yes this tasted more like coffee than Tiramisu. There were no ‘pieces’ of Tiramisu, just the name it implied. Honestly, I was not impressed with the flavor & texture. It lacked decadence & the ‘airy’ soft texture I love about gelato. This tasted more like ‘ice cream’ to me. In fact, I’d go as far to say that I prefer frozen custard over D’oro’s gelato… sorry. They did present many names & flavors indigenous to Italy,(which I appreciate) & some modern takes and fruity gelatos as well… But overall, I just wasn’t impressed and my friends agreed. It was simply OK. According to positive reviews here, people seem to really like this place, so you may like it too… Btw — it is located in the outdoor mall by CVS right next to Jimmy John’s. They also have a gelato truck that hosts events. What a fun idea for a child’s birthday party! They won’t be as picky as me: P

I’ve been looking forward to some good gelato for some time now. I’m completely satisfied, it was fresh and full of flavor. I also had one of the sandwiches here and I can say that this place is great for a quick lunch. I’ll definitely come back.

LOVE the banana walnut gelato with the hazelnut flavor(I forgot the actual name of it). So good! Also, the iced caramel latte is amazing, but has really strong coffee in it. Much stronger than Starbucks, but amazing if you can handle strong coffee. My next try will be a Caprese sandwich.

Awesome gelato. Every flavor is delicious even if the menu isn’t extensive. The quality is superb. Not that Addison is the most romantic atmosphere but this little Italian gem is a highlight in an area that is known for it’s sizable Italian community. It has authentic Italian gelato which is hard to come by these days with so much Americanized fake imitations. The vibe is authentically modern Italy down to even the Italian music piped in the speakers. The espresso drinks and sandwiches are also on point. I recommend it!

I visited here because I had a free cup of gelato on my belly card. The gelato was AMAZING !!! The owner took time to explain the ingredients to me. I had the Mango and the Banana Nutella. Both were delicious!!! So fresh tasting!!! I can’t wait to go back and try the paninis :)

The other night, we stopped in for sandwiches. The Turkey Giardiniera was delicious, the basil pesto spread was a perfect touch. The chicken chipotle was also terrific. The sandwiches are large and although enough to share one, we each ate our entire sandwich because they were so good. Then, the gelato… oh, that first creamy taste, magic! We will definitely return for sandwiches and gelato again. And, since that was so good, we are hoping the pastas are great too. Next time it’s pasta and chocolate lave cake. I may have to go there for lunch today :) So glad we stumbled onto this place as we live in Addison and were getting thoroughly bored with the food selections in town. Thank you Gelato D’Oro, we will be back!

First time in will not go back! Gelato all over the super small $ 6+ cup. Young girls working were not friendly.

When I first heard about Gelato D’Oro, some of the reviews were apparently mixed. One day, after getting lunch with a friend, we decided to go there and give this place a try for ourselves. Upon walking inside, we were both greeted by the owners. They were extremely friendly and casual. Service was extremely quick and we got seated immediately. Then we tried our gelato… The gelato here is really, really good. The flavors and cool texture of each bite are solely worth the visit. And the portion for even the small cups are quite large as well. Even hours after eating it, the gelato doesn’t leave any bad aftertaste nor does it make you feel bloated like regular American ice cream. And I’m lactose intolerant! Seriously, this gelato must have a secret ingredient or something… Before leaving the place, my friend noticed that they also serve food here as well.(Including panini’s and pasta dishes!) I cannot comment on the quality of food yet, but I can definitely say that this trip to Gelato D’Oro will most certainly not be my last! On a side note, I would also like to put that this place supports Belly, which is a rewards system that gives you points which you can redeem for free food! So make sure to sign up there or get the app so you can get a free gelato eventually. Overall, Gelato D’Oro truly stands out among many of the other ice cream places in Addison. With it’s chill and down to Earth ambiance, friendly staff, and high quality products, you can’t go wrong! Highly, highly recommended! Give the place a try, you won’t be disappointed!

Had no idea this place existed and I don’t live far. Maybe a coupon in the local fliers or one of those blow up balloon things would help? *since writing this review I received a flier in the mail which included a coupon for Gelato D’Oro! We stopped by for a quick dish of gelato and was pleasantly surprised. I got lemon and watermelon and my husband got peach and watermelon. Portion size was good and reasonably priced. We were also told that they serve sandwiches as well. I noticed in one of the freezers by the door that they had fruit stuffed with gelato(lemon for example)…love that! I had something like that at a restaurant years ago and always think about it so I will have to buy it here to try. Definitely will be back for a scoop of gelato!

My wife, kids and I stopped into the shop on Sunday night after playing some mini golf. Michael D’Oro came out and said I’m sorry, we don’t open until Tuesday, it’s a friends and family party tonight but come on in and I’ll take care of you, on the house. What a gracious gesture from the owner. When we went into his cute shop, he took us through the flavors. Everyone got something different and it was all fantastic. Kudos to Michael and his team. When we’re back in town next, we’ll make sure to stop back into Gelato D’Oro!
