Good food. It took a bit to get our food tonight. I had the traditional brisket tacos and they were tasty.

We entered hurriedly to catch the Happy Hour specials. The bartender, Jose Luis, was very charismatic and accommodating right away. He took our drink orders right away. My boyfriend and I decided to share our entrees because this was his first time eating at Taco Diner and he wasn’t sure he would like his food. We kept having to have Jose Luis explain what some of the food items were. Jose was extremely willing to help and provided descriptive answers to all of our questions. One of our concerns was about how spicy some of the entrees were due to a recent bad experience at a bar where the food was so hot it was unbearable. We felt Jose was extremely helpful in educating us on what peppers were how spicy in a few entrees we debating on(and he was right). So, we ordered the«De Brisket» and the«Guajillo(red sauce) Brisket & Nopales(cactus).» We could not have been more pleased with our selections, and to my surprise, we both liked the Guajillo entrée the best! We ordered a couple of Mambo Taxi’s, and as always, they hit the spot. The Guajillo tacos were the highlight of the night for sure! We will definitely eat here again and will try something new.

Service was fast. Staff was very friendly and the food was really good. What more can you say? There are a lot of really good food choices in this area. This place is one of the better ones for some good Mexican food.

Extremely disappointed that they have changed their menu and removed the Mexican Sandwich. That was the best item they had in the menu and what I would always get. I even asked if they could still make it by request and they said no. Sorry Taco Diner but the mambos aren’t good enough by themselves to go eat there anymore. Hope you realize the mistake you’ve made and change it back.

Yummy food! NOT the Tex-Mex that is so prevalent here. I had the brisket enchiladas and they were perfect. The margaritas are great, and the fajita beef nachos is a delicious way to start. Don’t go if you are in a hurry however(unless you are a table of hot Latina girls) because the service is slower than molasses(unless you are a table of hot Latina girls). 4 stars because they don’t put liquid smoke in their salsa.

Only been here a few times. I’ve always gotten the brisket tacos. Drinks are way too strong but the waiters are attentive and green dip is good.

Free Chips and Salsa… count me in! I came here on a Sunday and immediately I felt the sunday fun day chill vibes. There was a DJ on the patio that was playing a array of 90’s and early 00 music which made me want to get up and dance with my daughter but felt that might have been a bit inappropriate. We ordered the brisket tacos. When we got them, the meat was dry and the taco itself did not contain very many ingredients. I would have to say it was fairly bland however the avocado salsa that came with the chips was my dipping sauce for everything which made my meal more pleasant. I would probably come back on a Sunday for the music and environment but… probably not so much for the food.

I’d rather not taco ’bout it… When you get here they’ll bring some chips and salsa before taking your order. Now they are free, so I shouldn’t complain, but they are honestly the worst ever… thick and flavorless. I’d rather eat cardboard. And the dipping sauces are just okay. They have a sign on the tables advertising mambo taxis and margaritas for $ 5… But when the bill came they were $ 8. Read the fine print… We found this deceptive. Cob salad was overpriced and bland. Very disappointing.

The food is pretty yummy! I’ve been twice now and have really liked both dishes. One was tacos and the other was a tamale dish that was amazing!

Taco Diner… It’s not entirely bad, but the times and reasons for me to return is very limiting, which is why it’s more of a «Meh…» rather than an «A-OK.» First off two frozen drinks costing $ 16 is a bit ridiculous since they’re just mixed drinks and it’s not even really a bar. A Dallas plate of fajitas would cost the same price and it would fill you up substantially much more than two drinks. The drinks itself are good and strong — but I only speak of the frozen concotion they call mambo-taxi which is what everyone here seems to be talking about anyways. And I’m not a man for frozen drinks since I’m an on-the-rocks type of guy. Second thing — the food. The guacamole needed more lime — but that’s easily fixable. The queso blanco dip was good, yet spicy. Tasted more bland than the greasier Tex-Mex version, but I liked it more since it also tasted healthier. Would I order any of it again? No — I didn’t LOVE anything I tried. But why didn’t I love it? Because their chips were not that good — they tasted old, or maybe they were just too thick, too toasted which is what people do to old chips. I probably would bump up their rating a bit if their chips did improve since it seems the whole place revolves around them in the form of regular nacho chips or tostadas. And lastly, the atmosphere — it’s modern, chic, and cool. And there was also a DJ who was playing good fun stuff. And the service is great — multiple staff were both friendly and outgoing. So again, would I return? Maybe just for social gathering and only during happy hour(Monday through Thursday until 7 pm). At any other times, I’ll probably just drive on by.

The brisket tamale is yummy. I was hesitant at first to get it but once I took my first bite I devoured it. I wish I took a pic before I did. It looked great plated. The mix of a corn with a brisket roja vieja«sauce» was scrumptious. The have great complimentary chips and salsa as well. Nothing generic and standard about this place. Prices are good as well.

I have previously rated this place as 4 star and I loved it but now putting it in a star. Here are the reasons why– Quality of food and service has gone down. They had good veggie taco options earlier they don’t even have it. Patio is always dirty I have seen trash below my feet thrice when I sat in patio. To many Mosquitos for that reason in patio Drinks have way tooooo much sugar Extremely slow and poor service

Went with the three kids and the food was very good and came out piping hot. However, the salsa cups and water glasses were empty a lot of the time, and they ran out of the sauce for the Pescado Veracruz, which is a bit of a problem for a pescatarian, as it leaves only the fish tacos as an option. Then I paid with a $ 50 Open Table gift check and some cash, and the waiter chased me down like some sort of criminal who had just walked the check, and had me wait while he conferred with the hostess and then the manager to determine that it wasn’t some sort of scam. If I do go back, will make it during the $ 5 Mambo Taxi Happy Hour. I can tell I wasn’t the only semi-disappointed customer, as the place wasn’t even full on a beautiful Friday night. The location at West Village is much better.

Taco Diner, if you like mango, try their mango fresca water, if you can handle hot ask for hot salsa they will bring it to you in addition to your regular ones. Key to getting good service at this diner is same as any other diner, smile at the waiter when you walk in and get seated. If you feel you need something ask don’t think you are in a restaurant. it’s named a Diner for a reason. Place has mostly three stars because people expect it to be a restaurant but it operates like a diner. Food is good for the price you pay and a good place for a quick meal. Oh yes it’s a diner but it’s not open 24⁄7 and say gracias instead of thank you and remember you are at Taco comensal or Taco Comedor, if you don’t know which is the right word Gracias works everywhere.

You know, this place is really just a solid mid-tier Tex Mex place, which is great for those random Sundays with no better place nearby to go. I like the aguas frescas and it’s great that they give you chips and five different salsas. Probably the best part. The entrees and tacos are good, but not spectacular. And the patio is much cuter than the one in uptown. Plus, the service is always always nice!

I’ve been in living in the North Dallas area for just a few weeks, and today I stumbled upon Taco Diner during lunch. Super delicious Brisket Tacos were suggested by my server upon learning it was my first time. The gravy that came with the Tacos was a pleasure, and complimented the experience. Since I’ve only been to one, I’ll save a full review for another time. Looking forward to more.
