Murphy’s Pub

I’m so torn in my feelings about Murphy’s.
First, the food. It’s your standard bar menu, and some items are great, some are not so great. Their fried cheese is delicious, and so are their Irish nachos (I’m a fan of all things tater tots), but their regular nachos are not so great. The pulled pork is terrible. The meat is try, and they try to overcompensate by drowning it in barbecue sauce.
Their martini menu is probably my favorite thing about this place. The pineapple upside down cake is heavenly, and tastes exactly like a slice of cake. Their other specials such as the french martini and the oatmeal cookie are also quite tasty.
Service is quick and friendly, considering that this place is almost always overcrowded, and there is never enough seating for the amount of Agawam townies that flood the place.
Overall it’s a decent Irish pub, but I’d say that some of their close by competitors are doing it better.

Is very good-​warm and just the right size for an app. The sandwiches are good especially the Reuben, my personal favorite. My husband had a burger tonight. It was one of the better burgers he’s had. The chips are homemade and nice and fresh. I love the side pickle. I have to disagree with some of the other reviews. We have NEVER had bad service, ever! The servers are polite, attentive and helpful. Good job, Murphy’s.

Absolutely love this place!!! We came in this past Saturday afternoon it was very busy but we were taken care of right away. The bartender explained to us all about the Newer beers on tap since we haven’t been in in a while. She also encouraged us to have the flatbread special which was a great choice. I think her name was Katie? The beer selection is always changing and updating which is hard to come by and is a big part of why my husband and I love Murphys! The atmosphere is always good, a very mixed crowd of people. It’s a little noisy but that’s to be expected with the size. The staff is exceptional and up beat. Always accommodating and helpful. Great place we highly recommend it!

Absolutely love this place! Service is always great, food it’s always delicious and no matter where you sit you can see the big game on their many TVs! My girlfriend and I particularly make it a point to go when our favorite bartender Meagan is working! She’s incredibly attentive and always so friendly! (Is she ever in a bad mood?!) last night I won $ 450 on Keno… Murphys, you just raised the bar yet again for now being my lucky spot to play! Highly recommend this spot for a fun place to get good food, good drinks, good service and not a high bill!

I really like Murphy’s. The food is very good quality pub fare and the service is outstanding. I really have only one major complaint related to the drinks. And without this complaint, I would have given them 4 stars. They are very light on their pours when it comes to liquor. I order mixed drinks or drinks on the rocks and they pour a strict 1.5 ounces (the larger end of the jigger) that is measured and charge the same as some other places that pour a much stouter drink for the same or even less. I guess my feeling is that for a $ 7 or $ 8 drink that it should be a heavier pour. As a general rule, I just don’t like a measured pour when you are paying a lot for a drink and the profit margin is so high on these types of beverages as it is. It is a lot heavier pour at almost all other restaurants of the same type and all I can do is go by comparison to the other establishments that I go to for a similar drink and just don’t feel like I get my money’s worth on the drinks I have ordered at Murphy’s. Their price and selection choices on beers is excellent. So, that is what I will be ordering here on out.

We stopped in here yesterday for a quick bite with friends and family. The service was excellent and the food was pretty good for a pub. Our party mostly had burgers and wings. My only complaint was that the boneless wings were overcooked and there wasn’t much sauce. I usually like mine juicy and lathered in sauce. These wings had more of a rub and were a little dry. The apps and burgers were delicious.

It is clean. It is usually freezing. There is an outside patio but it is overlooking the road. Food is good. I have been twice, my girlfriend 3 times. I completely love the shepherd skins — basically all the non-​potato components of shepherds pie as the topping of a potato skin — can’t go wrong with that. Pub chips with bacon horseradish dip — yummy, i want like 4 containers of the dip it is so tasty. I had a special that was a jalapeño popper grilled cheese which was very yummy — cheese sauce, jalapenos, side of sour cream.
That being said — there is a service issue here. Don’t get me wrong, they are pleasant. I sat at the bar both times I went, my girlfriend did the same when she brought her mother. There was a different bartender each time. All friendly. All really slow. All extremely likely to walk by an empty glass and/​or a keno ticket with cash next to it even though the place is pretty empty. There has never been a full restaurant, there have always been empty seats at the bar, yet somehow it takes forever to get a drink or play a game. It is frustrating because the food is good and, like I said, they are nice, but I don’t want to wait 15 minutes with an empty glass when it isn’t busy.

Food is consistent and good. Service is good as well! We enjoy the outdoor patio, which is hard to come by in Agawam!

Good food and good drinks, it is small but very decent place and service is always good … One of my favorite spots ., we order different items from the menu every time we go and it’s always good …

Murphy’s is an adorable Irish pub for lunch with great sandwiches and the hot spot for locals in the evening. The owner acknowledged my birthday and was so nice.

tried murphys for the first time last nite when you walk in a sign says seat yourself we sat at a corner table and just when we thought we might have been forgotten a waitress came over, apologized several times for the wait took our drink orders and was back within minutes with our drinks and took our app order. she timed our second round of drinks just as our apps arrived, the preztel and cheese was great as were the pub chips with meat n cheese our main course was a couple of ruebens and the cuban which were all sandwichs to brag about. so all n all the beer selection was great food was fantastic and the service was great and this was at 7:00pm on a sat nite during the ncaa basketball playoffs. can’t wait to go back and try something different, if all goes the same they’ll get five stars. wish i could remember the waitresses name id like to thank her for an enjoyable dining experience

Just left Murphys. Worst service in agawam. Waitress frowned when we said we wanted to dine as well as drink. Paid us little attention. Three of our meals came out. Ten minutes later I went to the bar to ask for ketchup for the first three meals and to find the fourth. Got ketchup. Cancelled the fourth meal as the others were well into their meals. The folks that got food said it was decent. Never saw the waitress again. Someone else dropped our check. I guess we weren’t welcome to have a second drink. The receipt said Silvana at the top. I assume that was our waitresses name. She never told us. Thank you Silvana for the terrible service. You should see if Friendlys will take you back. We will never be back. Bartender was friendly and apologetic.

Absolutely a town favorite. The food never fails to impress. The draft list is impressive. The staff is friendly, patient, informative! You may catch Chef coming out to speak with guests about the food. Love this place! Also love their Bloody Mary’s.

Murphy’s is the only respectable bar in Agawam. Unlike the other horrid little shacks that dot the town and service exclusively drunks, Murphy’s Pub is a clean and happy establishment.
Just keep in mind that this is a place you go for beer and food. They are not stocked for fancy cocktails, and it is not a place to get hammered and throw up. That said, they have a great selection of beers on tap, ranging from shandys to IPAs to stouts, as well as a few whiskeys. And the food is fantastic, with my own favorites including the turkey BLT with sweet potato fries and their flatbread pizzas.
Overall, expect a friendly atmosphere, reasonable prices, and some pretty stellar food and drink. Also, Thursday is «wings night,» so be prepared for a crowd.

Frequent Murphy’s every time I come back home. Always a good place for some drinks, keno, food and can’t bear the drink prices! Also, they have a great selection of draft beers.

Murphy’s has a pretty good beer selection and fun/​clean bar atmosphere. I’ve been several times just for drinks and the staff and service have been friendly and generally on top of their games. The bar is a pretty good size but has been full every time I’ve visited, day or night. Around the bar are a number of tables but the capacity is pretty small so plan accordingly.
They have about 20 beers on tap, including a few BBC and Dogfish Head. I’ve only had the food once but it was better than expected — burgers, sandwiches, pub food and apps… reasonable prices.
Definitely a great place to stop by for drinks or some good bar food!

Great beer selection with 7 big screens to watch your favorite sporting event but stay home Friday, Saturday or any day Brian the manager/​bartender is NOT there… the other manager Pete could care less whether you are there or not… he in inattentive and NEVER says thank you… i was there for the mens national championship basketball game this week and he had the game on only 2 of the 7 screens… what was on the other screens you ask??? a post game NESN talk show and the place was almost empty… i wonder why??? oh yes… HE DOESNT CARE!!! I would have given at least 4 stars but… oh and by the way the fish and chips are great!!!
