Parking/Location: Blue Tropix is conveniently located in the Bank of Hawaii & Straub building, across the way from Pearl Ridge Shopping Center in AIea. I wound up here around 7 pm on a Friday night and there was ample free covered & uncovered parking. There was also security guards roaming the complex which is comforting as Blue Tropix is one of the only institutions open in the complex during the evening. Several other restaurants used to occupy the building complex but have long since closed and have not been replaced, so basically the only reason you would be here late at night would be for Blue Tropix. Atmosphere: The crowd is like many other sports bars, just situated in Central Oahu which contains a large mix of mainly locals. There are about 5 dart machines($ 1/per person/per game) and 1 billiards table($ 1/game). The dart machines were located in a well-lit room in the back of Blue Tropix. There is plenty of space, a juke box player and tables to sit and drink at while playing darts. The billiards table, on the other hand, is out in the main bar area and expect to wait your turn to play. The crowd seemed really considerate and let us play a few rounds. It was all good fun. The restroom were pretty clean and I never had to wait in line which is a huge plus! Drinks/Food: Food menu, yes. Drink menu, no. We order Kalua Nachos which were okay but we were mainly there to drink! I ordered a Sex on The Beach, AMF and Cosmopolitan Martini all about $ 6 each. We also ordered a few round of shots(Jameson & Patron) for about $ 6-$ 7 a shot, which seemed reasonable. The mixed drinks weren’t very tasty but they definitely don’t skimp on the alcohol. The alcohol ii the mixed drinks were clearly well & calls by default but still good — and cheap! Service: My friend is a regular at Blue Tropix so I don’t know if that influenced our great experience but all the servers were approachable and friendly. Several times my friends were left waiting too long for a simple beer but all and all, Blue Tropix is a good time!

Despite the loud, awkward, drunk couple arguing behind me and friends, this place was ok. Primarily came here to grab a few drinks, and play darts. There’s a separate lit up room in the back that leads you to where the boards are. The room can easily fill with people so get used to being close to everyone. Especially If you’re near the dart boards. The food on the other hand was okay. I primarily liked their calamari with their wasabi sauce. The pizza and chicken wings were okay too. Not the greatest place to grab food, but it was fun playing darts and grabbing a few drinks. I think they have dart competitions during the week.

We came here tonight thinking that I could have a salad and a drink. Well, they have a new menu which doesn’t include salad. We ordered the lechon kawali and it was all fat! I wasn’t too keen about the sauce either and it was a pretty small portion too. We also ordered garlic edamame which was ok. We also ordered the char siu fried noodles. It was kinda greasy. We ordered the kalua pig tater tot nachos. It hardly had any kalua pig and the portions on everything was pretty small. They had some live music which was good. And the drinks was good but then again, how can you go wrong with beer and vodka shots. The two stars was for the great live music and cleanliness of the bar. Other than that, I didn’t really care for much. I will not be coming back again!

It was my first time here but you have to go with people that you know that will have a good time. Once you walk in the my check ID. It’s open seating so you have to find seats. But it wasn’t to busy and we were able to find seat fast. Service is great but the lighting is dark. It’s like a club seen! Drinks are reasonable. We didn’t eat we were there to have fun. Ohhh also there was a pool table It is so different when you play real life vs on the phone.

Nice, needed place on the West side. Food is tasty and the drinks are cold. Only problem in my opinion is the arrangement of the seating in relation to the tv’s. Big booths line the walls around a huge bar. Makes watching the games on tv awkward. You’re so far away from any of the tv’s that are in front of you. Just a strange set up.

The food is excellent here and the atmosphere is laid back, true island style with local music playing. Top it off with good island favorite pupus. Even my kids came along for after shopping meal and said this is their newest favorite place.

I haven’t done any reviews, but I felt I had to in this case. I was very impressed with Blue Tropix, nice people having a good time. Had good live music, good food. The server we had was beautiful, great service. Thanks, Alexis. :)

This place is the old Denny’s near pearlridge. Good amount of space and feels real open. There was a good amount of people when I was there and it didn’t feel crowded at all. The food is top notch. It really seems like they have a chef back there making pupus all night. The service is also really good and I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good spot to relax and have good food and drinks

I went here on a Saturday night a little after 7pm and luckily we didn’t have to wait for a booth. The booth sizes are pretty spacious and I like the way the tv’s are set up. There were about 12 tv’s, but I really don’t remember. All I know was there was enough and the ones I was watching were perfectly positioned. The bar is in the middle and booths are along the side. Right at the front is a place where the live music probably performs and towards the back they have the pool tables and darts. Now to review the food. We ordered the Kalua pig pizza, calamari, Mochiko chicken, lechon kawali, pitcher of bud light, and the deep friend banana caramel cheesecake. I don’t care for bbq, but the boys wanted it and I actually really liked it! It’s a thin crust pizza that isn’t big in size, but it’s like pupu style so understandable. I loved the calamari and the portion was great! The Mochiko chicken was okay, but next time I’ll try the garlic chicken. I did not care for the lechon kawali because the lechon pieces were too big and almost all fat(definitely not Elena’s!). Last but not least was the deep fried banana caramel cheesecake. I thought it was tasty and a good balance of hot and cold, but I wish it came with a scoop of ice cream! I hope to be back again soon.

Went here on a Friday night for a soccer mom’s night out. Overall, not bad. The pupus are tasty, especially the smoked meat and garlic chicken. The tots and waffle fries were also good. The service was a little slow, the food came fast but the drinks were a different story, just a glass of water took forever and they didn’t have any li hing for our margaritas. The live music was great, the place could use better seating, our party of eight squeezed into one booth and later we were able to steal two bar stools to sit on. Like the fact that it’s on the West side so might give it another try.

I’ve been here a couple times since they opened, and was pretty impressed with the food and prices. During happy hour they have a lot of drafts on special. The first few times I went here, I sat in the booths and the service was pretty average. I came here last week with some coworkers for a Pau Hana drink, and sat at the bar. Our bartender, Jen was fabulous. She would check up on us constantly and had some pretty interesting stories to tell! It gets pretty busy here on football nights. There are at least 15BIG flatscreen tv’s all along the bar. There is a pool table and dart boards in the back room too. I would definitely recommend this place! Can’t wait to come back for the games!

This is a great place on the central/west side to come and hang out and have a couple of drinks with your friends or family. I absolutely loved the garlic chicken, it was moist and flavorful if I wasn’t full I would’ve gotten another plate of it. I’m putting 4 stars because although I thoroughly enjoyed my visit, the service wasn’t quite on point. It did take a while to get attention from the waitstaff from time to time to put in another order for a drink or food, or even to get refill on my water. I would still recommend everyone to try this place out. My friends and I stayed there from 9pm-1am and we had a blast. The best part of it was that this place has a back room where people can come in and play darts. In the bar they also have a pool table. I’m definitely going to come here more often and bring more people to this place.

First time here. Place is huge with a lot of flat screen tv’s. They have a pool table and dart broads. They have a lot waitresses working which makes device fairly good. Ordered the cannon balls and shields and the hungry surfer pizza. Food was good. Beers cold! What more could u ask for? lol

I didn’t even know that Denny’s closed here and this new Blue Tropix Bar and Grill opened up. As we all know football season is starting up again and I’m sure the bars are filling up more with fans wanting to watch the games of their favorite teams. So our friend recommended this place as it is fairly new to the Aiea Area. They were open at 7am here on a Sunday just in time for the 1st game we were watching this past Sunday. We arrived there before 8 as our friends had already claim a few tables while watching the games on the multiple screen tvs surrounding the bar in the middle. They offered a breakfast menu til 10am for us to order. I got the spinach and mushroom omelette with wheat bread and my boyfriend got the big breakfast that came with eggs, link sausage, bacon, portuguese sausage, and tator tots. Both came out to be less than $ 20. Typical breakfast starter, decent and affordable. By 10am, our server gave us another menu for lunch and pupus while we continued to watch the other football games going on at the same time as well. They offered a variety of salad, sliders, pizza, poke pupus and even desserts. We stuck with pupus and got: –Canon Balls & Shields($ 4.95), which is the closest you’ll get to regular fries. It includes tater tots and waffle fries. –Shoyu Oyster Ahi($ 9.95) –Calamari(7.95) –Smoked Chicken Wings($ 8.95) Pupus were okay. I think I’d prefer regular fries over the waffle fries they offer here. Chicken wings were tasty though. It was reasonably portioned for its prices for bar food. Always best for sharing among all the different pupus and have it family style. Because we were there early in the morning, it wasn’t that busy so we had one side of the area to ourselves as we had different angles to view the different games that was going on. There’s also a dart area and pool table available in the back. I would suggest parking upstairs of the building so it’s easily accessible by walking down stairs to the bar. You would need to enter through pearlridge up the ramp and park towards diamond head side, crossing the overhead passageway. Service was awesome that morning. Our server kept checking up on us if we needed anything and refilled our water periodically. I was impressed with how well she was catering to our needs and offering her suggestions on drinks and food choices. Overall, good first impression of this new business. I wouldn’t mind coming back if I’m in the area again. Btw, remember that old Blue Tropix Club that was on Kapiolani back in the day? Well that was my first clubbing experience and the owner of that club happens to be the same owner of this bar & grill.

Aloha everyone! I’m really happy to review this new place in Aiea called Blue Tropix! Reluctant to try it until I read the positive comments about this place. Tonight is Saturday and they had braddah Chris from many local bands playing. Food was good and friendly service. I would only say they need another bartender to help on the other side. Other than that I’ll be happy to definitely come again and be a regular. Please try it if you live this side and don’t want to go into town to «Home Bar» cause this place will soon be the local place to come very fast! Much mahalos to the staff and kitchen, I’ll be back to see if it has the same«Magic» as it has now. Great job! ~T

Ummmm… how does this bar have less than four stars!?! So the man and me went here after a lovely dinner next door. We decided to have one of those wile nights. We arrived and it was packed! The crowd was friendly and there was a live band playing AwESoMe songs. We were able to score a booth, just in case I need to lay down I could. Lucky this party animal did not need anythg that resembled shut eye. We had about five shots all different! We started with a chocolate cake shot, the Bob Marley shots, followed by white gummy bear, the. Surfer on acid and lastly before we hopped on a Vegas bomb. Let’s just say we did the night right. All drinks were pretty good. The Bob Marley needed a little work as well as the white gummy bear. The service was fantastic. Looking forward to going back pronto and trying the food.

Went here last night and I had a blast. We ordered a crab pupu and the calamari and ended up with tots and fries with calamari. We ended up eating the tots because they looked good and we were starving. Both huge portions. I loved the wasabi dip that came with the calamari. They have pool tables. A couple guys taught us how to not be as terrible at pool. Very friendly crowd. Bartender was great too. She made us some custom drinks that my friend makes at the bar she manages. Overall great place. Lots of potential.

Summary: Has potential Staff: Friendly. Bartender mentioned she doesn’t like bacon. I’m convinced she isn’t human. Drinks: Only a few beers on draft but all were cold. Food Summary: Sliders were juicy but bland. Triple bacon is a nice touch Atmosphere: Has poor light and that seems on purpose. Lights are overhead with blue filter. Not a fan. Music: Streaming service is being used and it stops every now and again to play an ad. Usual local stuff being played with no variety :/ Seating: Very large U shaped bar in the center. Area has plenty of tables along the walls. LIKE Entertainment: Several flat screens. Pool table.

Went there a few days ago… this place has so much potential. I love the open environment and that clean feeling when you walk into a new establishment. The place has 12 TVs set up which makes it an awesome sports bar. They also have a stage area and a dart room with 6 machines set up along with a pool table. However, as with many new establishments there’s a lot of kinks and quirks to work out. A few of the staff seemed brand new to the restaurant business so service was a tad bit slow. The food tasted ok but I think the fryer oil wasn’t hot enough. Cooked at the right temperature I’m sure the garlic chicken and mochiko chicken would’ve been superb. Portions are small. I would honestly pay a couple dollars more to see the plate look plentiful. Hehe. And I would love for them to have a couple healthier items like edamame or tofu or sashimi. Overall, I really liked this place.
