Thank you Chun Wah Kam staff for telling me no need to make a two dozen order of rice cake when I called this morning because get plenty then when I get there you offer me the three that are left. FAIL. Maybe next time your staff will know what they are talking about. IF I ever try order for a party there again.

Most times when I come here, there is a line, but not to worry, because the workers are fast paced and get the people in and out quickly. a few times, I dealt with the line almost outside the door, and the counter is located in the back of this huge restaurant. Food is always satisfying, my usual includes, baked manapua, pork hash, rice cake, chow fun or chow mein. The baked manapua is huge, enough to split with someone. I prefer the baked manapua over the regular steamed because it is softer, and the bun is sweeter. Only thing, is the top of the bun is very sticky. The pork hash is huge and so delicious, and when I am craving for noodles, this is the place for me. There are lots of parking,

I always get the garlic chicken here. It is always perfect. I’ve had the ginger chicken fried rice which is acutally really good even though I don’t normally care for ginnger chicken. The noodles are always on point here. The guava chicken was a bit disappointing though. I thought it would be sweeter. It’s too bbq-y for my taste. The minute chicken is always good too. Their veggie dishes are always great too. Roast pork is always tender and full of flavor. There’s not a lot that I haven’t tried that I don’t like.

They ran out of fried shrimp by noon. What? Town location has better quality food and more selection. This location kept running low and they scoop the scraps into your plate.

Dirty Chairs and Tables, Bad Service, The Food was Awful. My friend even seen a roach, but really what restaurant doesn’t have them. It was just bad to see it by food that your about to purchase. Just go to the Honolulu Kitchen in Waipahu, so much better food, cleaner and nice workers.

The only reason they got 2 stars is because the food taste good. The service SUCKS! I called 5 times for a phone order, got ignored and hung up on 5 times and now im wasting my time in line for service that super sucks. If you’re gonna offer the service have the manpower to provide what you’re offering or don’t offer it. Look at your system, it needs work! #frustratedpatron

I haven’t been here since Honolulu Kitchen opened up in Waipahu… Lol! My niece wanted Chinese food and since CWK was close by, we stopped to grab a plate lunch. I heard the original owners left? I don’t know if this is true but I see a lot of workers at HK that used to work at CWK… Anyways, whoever is running this place now isn’t doing such a good job. I got a mini plate with Portuguese sausage fried rice, minute chicken, sweet and sour fish. The fried rice was drier than what I remember and it was cold… Gross. The minute chicken was okay, it was a little to pungent for my nieces liking but I didn’t mind. At least this one was warm! The sweet and sour fish must have been sitting there for a while because it was lukewarm and the breaded part was too squishy. Maybe it’s just me, but maybe their food heaters are getting old? The portions were not overflowing as they used to be. Pros: LESSMESS! I can’t remember how many times my plate broke inside my bag lol. Cons: Less food!(Do I have to elaborate?) The workers were nice and greeted me as I went in, but unfortunately a restaurant can’t just get by on customer service. The table we sat at was oily, but at least it was the cleanest one there. Summary: Food quality went down Food quantity decreased Customer service is acceptable Not clean I’d rather eat at Panda Express than at CWK!!! This was a very disappointing experience. Maybe it was just today that it was like this, but today has reinforced my opinion. I’d rather go to Panda or Honolulu Kitchen.

I LOVE their baked manapuas. The bread is so soft and delicious! Can’t be beat! Being that I hadn’t eaten here in what may have been years, the food somehow tasted that more delicious because I had been craving it for some time. I ordered the char siu baked manapua and rice cake. My mom ordered the udon fried noodles and a steamed okinawan sweet potato manapua. All of what we ordered was super good! The udon fried noodles are so unique. I haven’t seen this kind of fried noodle option anywhere else. I like the thickness of the noodle to give it substance. I came in around 12:00 on a Monday and it was surprisingly pretty empty. However, within the next half hour or so it became extremely packed. We just happened to drop in at a good time. I’m used to coming in with long lines and waiting a while for my number to be called. The people who work here are always friendly and move pretty quickly through the orders. The only drawback is that while their menu has many offerings, they won’t always have what you want when you go there because they might be sold out. You just have to choose from what they have available.

I’m comparing it to the one in town. Everything about the one in town is better. Better service, better selection of food, and larger servings. I haven’t been to the town one first thing in the morning but I don’t recommend coming to the Waimalu location first in the morning! You will find a very small selection of the menu. The first time this happened I thought,“Once is forgivable…” But twice?! I suggest If your going to open this early in the morning to have all your menu items ready! In town the service was excellent! For example, they tell you about the food and what’s popular. They even convinced me to try some manapuas I usually wouldn’t have considered trying and in the end they were right! I tried the custard and cream cheese manapuas and they were delicious! Your not getting these at the Waimalu location in the morning, trust me, I tried twice. I also wanted a mini plate with the ginger rice thingy and the rice wasn’t ready. How terrible! That rice is bomb!!! I had to get regular fried rice(which was meh). Just know, you want the basics, it will be available, but what makes Chun Wah Kam special to me(ginger rice and custard and cream cheese manapua) isn’t «ready» in the morning. Why come? After all, isn’t that what we come here for? The exclusive ginger rice and the fresh baked, fun flavored manapuas? Toddles Waimalu Chun Wa Kam… In my book there’s only one Chun Wah Kam now. The one in town.

I cant really rate the food because I was the«delivery guy». My wife ordered food from them for a function and I was sent to pick it up. I walked in and there was already a group of people waiting to order, or waiting to pickup their orders. I pulled a number and was 10 numbers behind. Not sure if I still had to wait because it seemed like everyone was waiting so I opted to talk to a girl at the counter. I told her that I was picking up a phone order and she processed it right away. I guess I didn’t have to wait in line. I picked up the order(it smelled good), and left. Easy in, easy out! I guess you’ll have to wait for my wifes review to see if the food was good! My rating is for the quick service, easy pickup, and correct order!

Even though I have heard of this place for years due to a friend’s father working at the factory in Aiea, I have never been here. I am super picky with Chinese food. One day, my boycreature suggested this place, after we had each shot down each other’s suggestions for lunch. We were at wit’s end!!! Have you ever had indecisive moments with your friends or partner?! Frustrating. I agreed since it’s hard to shoot down an idea without legit reason. I was extremely impressed with selection(variety of) when I walked in. I chose a chow fun and the steamed fish. It was all very«meh». I’ll just say that. I did not get to try the manapua although my roommate and good friend both claim its delicious. In fact they always go to Chun Wah Kam! To me, I wouldn’t come back of my own free will but would choose this over… Zippys or fast food.

I grew up coming here and still stop by every single time I come home to Hawaii. The food is so good! I especially love their udon noodles and manapuas. They have so many different kinds of manapua to choose from, it’s divine! Parking can be tough because it’s in the busy Waimalu shopping center. And it’s also pretty crowded inside because it’s so good! But they have a lot of people working all the time so they are pretty quick. I’ve never spent more than 10 minutes waiting. Pricing is a little high but portions are big so it evens out. If you’re in the area, do try it!

My bf and I come here on our day off since it is close to our house. Remember to pull a numbered ticket as soon as you come in so you can be helped. Customer service is sketchy here. You wait patiently for your number to be called only to have the worker rush you to hurry and choose what you want. I noticed the girls always give my bf big portions and I get small ones. They also run out of the good stuff early, and don’t seem in a hurry to replenish any of the trays. My favorite used to be the steamed fish, but I don’t see it anymore so I usually get the sweet sour pork. The pork is either super soft or super hard. No quality control here. My bf lives their char siu and roast pork. He never complains about his food, but he’s not a picky eater. One major disappoint here is the cleanliness. Like there is none. Tables are always dirty and there are always flies in the dining area. How is this sanitary or acceptable? There are no napkin holders around to wipe the tables and staff gives you stink eye if you ask them to wipe down the table. When you get your food, they only give you ONE napkin. You have a choice of using the napkin to wipe the table or wipe your face/hands after you eat. Choose wisely. Why do we come here then? Convenient location. That’s it. Food isn’t that fabulous. Prices kind of high, but they are occasionally generous with portions. I wouldn’t recommend this dirty place to friends though.

Unilocal365CHALLENGE2014−(250÷365) «Just As Bad As Panda Express» Man oh Man have things gone downhill here! We shared a 2-choice combo plate with half fried rice and half noodles as well as a Manapua, Rice Cake, and Pork Hash. Hot food is supposed to be hot but noting on the plate was! Everything was room temperature to cold-YUCK! The meat to bun ratio in the Manapua was really bad with barely any meat inside, and the wrapper fell off the pork hash after my first bite. so sad! The Rice Cake was good but everything else was less than average. Don’t understand how they are still open??? ALOHA!!! Shaka Meter: \uuu/\uuu/2 Just make the drive to Char Hung Sut…

Although this Chinese fast food establishment is conveniently located«outside» of Chinatown with free lot parking, we would be hard pressed to return even if it was the only option on the island. Other than the disgusting hair found hidden in our steamed rice selection, nothing about the food resembles authentic Chinese cuisine. For starters, the chow fun was tasteless… no wok aroma, not enough seasoning. My sweet and sour fish primarily consisted of batter rather than fish and was wayyyy too sweet even for a sweet-and-savoury palate like mine. My dining partner’s fried tofu eggplant dish was just so-so. His orange chicken appeared to be 50% chicken skin. Flavor-wise, the orange chicken was the most balanced out of all our four choices. Perhaps the few positives to point out would be the generous portions and the better than average price for a plate lunch. Unfortunately, the bottom line is that it’s better to eat elsewhere.

Chun Wah Kam is like Panda Express and manapua shop in one. They have fast Chinese food from A to Z. Their service is always fast and efficient. I don’t they ever messed up my order. So you better know what you want to get before you take a number.
