Thought it’d be fitting that for my very first Unilocal review, I pay tribute to my first love– carbohydrates. More specifically, Great Harvest Bread Co! And as one of the co-founder of my high school’s official Bread Club(I kid you not), believe me when I tell you that Great Harvest knows what’s up. My personal favorites include White Chocolate Blueberry, Three Cheese Garlic and Pesto Sun Dried Tomato. If you’re feeling indulgent, go for the mouthgasmic blueberry cream cheese scone. You seriously can’t go wrong here. Great Harvest’s bread have helped my friends and I push through many a hike. We’ll grab a loaf on the way to the trail-somehow scaling mountains is much more bearable when you know you have a delicious snack to devour at the top!

My girlfriend got me hooked on this place. It’s a nice little shop to pick up a fresh sandwich at if you’re ever in the market for one. We realized that there aren’t many sandwich shops around and we’re glad that this one is so close to home. They sell fresh made bread, bread mixes if you want to make it yourself, soup mixes, cookies and other snacks, and of course their freshly made sandwiches and wraps. It works much like The Counter in Kahala. They have a menu that you can choose what kind of bread, cheese, meat, and what kinds of toppings you want. It averages out to about five or six bucks per sandwich which might seem a little pricey but these are some high quality sandwiches we’re talking about here. They can even turn it into a wrap or grill it panini style. They’ll let you make a combo with a drink and chips and you’ve got yourself a healthy, fresh meal. Highly recommended.

I’m writing this review based on the California Cobb sandwich on honey wheat bread. The honey wheat bread was good. The sandwich, which came with turkey, bacon, avocado, was pretty good but not worth $ 7. I didn’t try any of the pastries. I still would like to try the grilled cheese sandwich sometime.

I’ve only been here twice, but I’m a big fan already. I’d come back more often if I wasn’t so strict on my diet restricting carbs. The smell of the bread when walking by is so tempting though. A long time ago I came to get a sandwich for lunch. It was really delicious and you can pick what type of bread, meat and cheese you want on it. The sandwich was very good and the quality was a lot higher than something you get from Subway(which is literally a stone’s throw away from Great Harvest Bread Co). Yesterday I walked in for a small loaf of bread. They have a lot to choose from and the loaves out are still warm. The prices are a little high but the quality of the bread is top notch. I got a low carb whole wheat loaf for about $ 6. The loaf of bread was still warm, it was soft, had a nice thickness to the dough that made it a lot more chewy than something you get from the grocery store. It wasn’t unpleasantly chewy or tough like my failure of an attempt to bake bread in my rice cooker(yes, you can do it, but based on my results, you shouldn’t try it). The loaf was small but just the right size for a single person. A lot of the time I find myself struggling to finish one of the loaves from the grocery store. They also have cookies and other baked goods which I haven’t tried. Both times I walked in, the seats were full of people happily munching away at cookies, which is probably a very good indicator that they are good. They also offer more choices now with the sandwiches so I might have to stop by again in the future for lunch, but I’m definitely going to be stopping by here to pick up a loaf of bread whenever I need bread.

I love bakeries… But I adore great harvest! They have the most exciting bread combos like cranberry, walnut, and white chocolate or pizza bread. While the loaves are a bit pricey, you really get what you pay for! Fabulous, fresh, and wholesome. The scones here are also delicious! Not dry at all and fabulous with a cup of coffee!

Take a huge whiff when you walk in here. It’ll feel like you’re in bread heaven The first time I went to this place was because I got a coupon from my stepmom. I love cookies, and this place definitely delivers. I’m not usually a fan of oatmeal cookies. But that’s my favorite cookie to get from here. It’s so soft and moist. I hate it when oatmeal cookies are dry that’s why. My stepmom buys bread here when she has parties and wants to make little sandwiches and what not. Their bread is good, too. Honey Oat? YESPLEASE!

After a three year hiatus, I have found redeeming qualities in great harvest! Also, I didn’t know they had so many locations! Downtown, Kahala, Aiea… geez! Their blueberry cream cheese scones($ 2.50) are of course very tasty. They are even good the next day, although the blueberry turns kind of smeary green… maybe I shouldn’t have eaten it… I was hungry… ok nevermind. Sandwiches: The best part is that you get to custom-order each one! You check off all the ingredients you want on a piece of paper, so no confusion like you get with a verbal order process. Even Guy, on a strict diet, could eat an all veggie sand! And California Cobb $ 6.95 is pretty fairly priced. Their bacon is very crisp, they use. sour cream? instead of mayo, and they put in plenty of veggies and throw in a pickle, too. I really appreciate that they will give you a «real» cup for water instead of a throwaway one. And the brochure about«whole grain» wheat sells you on the place, too. They fresh-grind their flour every day! A great, locally owned, fresh, yummy alternative to subway.

I thought I loved their blueberry cream cheese scone until I tasted their cranberry orange scone. That is love… so delicious. Their oatmeal chocolate cookies are splendid also. Yummy place for a sweet treat.

I absolutely love this place. You can get great sandwiches there and you can choose what to put on it. I normally get their specialty sandwiches. My favorite is their California Cobb on Honey Wheat. I love it and everything is always fresh. I like how you can make your own sandwich and you mark off your choices on a paper. And if I absolutely want to kanak attack after lunch I get a pastry. Most likely the lemon bar or the bread pudding. Either one is so calorific that you feel like snoozing till dinner time. Everything taste so homemade and hearty. If it is super busy there is limited seating. But I can eat standing up like an animal!

I go once a week. A buddy of mine told me about it before he transferred to the mainland and I have to say if him leaving was the way to find out about this place then so be it. Worth the trade. Seriously though this place can’t be beat for a quick delicious lunch. 10 bucks gets you a sandwich, chips/cookie and a drink. I recommend the tuna on dark squall with everything except the sprouts but those are good on it too. Very limited seating. 3 tables with 4 chairs each. The turn around is pretty quick so I only ate outside once. I haven’t found better service except maybe boston’s pizza.

Ok, everything… so delicious. Scones, lemon bars, fruit bars, breads, sandwiches and soups. Delicious. Service? Excellent. A little pricey, but it’s practically homemade. Worth it. Love you, Great Harvest! True, there is limited seating in the store, but it’s a store first, and a café second. If there were more seating, people would probably complain that it’s too crowded inside. There are some tables outside, and Starbucks is right next door, so there’s a lot of seating nearby. Just make sure to clean up after yourselves. ;)

I was dying for a club sandwich with avo the other day and I am still unwilling to drive to Kailua for a sandwich. Service was good, it was a nice big sandwich, only discrepancy was I ordered a panini… And it wasn’t grilled. So it is yummy, close, the bread is super fresh but still I’d like a kalapawai club. Hmmm, can I claim the gas money on my taxes???

This is just about the only place I went in Hawaii that I didn’t Unilocal before trying, but I lucked out anyway. Heavenly goodness! To realize how good it is, just purchase one of the scones(I think cinnamon chip with cream cheese scone is a wise choice) and then walk next door to Starbucks and see how much you’ll be paying for the same thing, half the size. p. s. the bread pudding rocks, even cold!

I only come here for the sandwiches. The sandwiches are pretty good — fresh bread and good meat, but they run on the pricey side. A panini combo(sandwich, chips, and drink) will set you back $ 10. Also, there’s limited seating indoors, that is, 3 tables. I wish they had a wider selection of signature/panini sandwiches(instead of just 5 or 6).

I am definitely a fan of the Great Harvest Bread Co. near Kahala Mall. Unfortunately, this outpost doesn’t quite measure up for me. It might be just me, but I felt like I was stepping into a sauna when I walked in there. The ventilation or A/C is severely inadequate. This has happened all three times I’ve visited. In addition, the staff is not overly friendly or willing to ask if I’d like a sample. At the other branch, as soon as I walk in, the staff is offering«Would you like to try something?» Here not so much. The breads are delicious as usual, even though we used to come here for the scones. I think they changed the recipe, so they’re not as good. Thankfully I work near Kahala Mall, so I can visit that one.

One of the happiest days I’ve had in the last two years, was the day Great Harvest Bread Co. opened up two minutes from my office. Previously I’d been driving to the one downtown two get BlueBerry Cream Cheese Scones, Fruit Bars(my favorite), Pumpkin Spice Bars, Breakfast Meal Wheels, Pigs in a Blanket, Bread Pudding, and Cinnamon Rolls. There’s just something so positive about this place, from the owners, to the staff, to the healthful flavorful never dry pastries they produce. While the breads might not be artisan breads(as mentioned in a review of the downtown location) they are delicious in their own right… try the Asiago Pesto Parmesan, Popeye, or Pizza Bread.(Hint: Ask for free samples, which actually they’ll usually offer you anyway) Don’t come expecting seating, it’s more of a take out place(there are two tables). We also get an assortment of goodies from here whenever we host workshops, if you give them enough notice you can get the pastries cut into quarters and arranged in a large box. The bakery alone, I would have given four stars… now that they serve soup & sandwiches bumps them up to five. :) These are relatively new additions(just started last week), but are welcome ones to all in the area who’ve tired of the pedestrian Subway and Quizno’s. They’re are two ways to have your sandwich dreams fulfilled here: One, grab a clip board, fill out a short well organized form, and build your own sandwich. I pretty much always add sprouts and avocado(cost little extra, but hey it’s avocado). Two, choose from two Signature cold sandwiches(California Cobb, BLT) or four different Panini sandwiches(Pastrami Jack, spicy smoked Turkey, Roast Beef, Grilled Cheese). I ended finishing my Roast Beef Panini at the store, even though I had intended to take it back to my office. If you got an extra five minutes, the Panini selections are worth the wait. The owners took their time researching how to do sandwiches right and it shows. Quality meats and cheese, fresh veggies, and bread baked right in the store(High 5 Fiber is great when available). While the process from order to delivery is still being perfected, be patient and enjoy the tasty results. Sandwiches are only available between 1030am and 330pm. They’re open 6am-7pm Mon-Sat and are located next door to the wonderful wine shop SWAM(worth repeat visits as well).
