Short and sweet. If you looking for good ol Hawaiian food than come here. They also serve American food and Puerto Rican food too. The best food ever. The Haupia is to die for.

My son and I love Jackie’s Diner. We always get the same stuff, but it’s because it’s soooooooooo good and cheap! That’s always a plus for me when food is finger licking good and affordable! You really can’t go wrong! We mainly get the laulau combo with Tripe stew. Laulau is a nice size. Tripe stew is soft and flavorful not chewy. I always get poi of course and the Haupia is good too! Creamy, coconutty, and sweet! My son loves it! Every now and then if we’re extra hungry we get a side order of fries or pasteles! Pasteles is on point! Service is fast and friendly. Parking can be a pain, on certain days. Usually Monday thru Wednesdays are good days to go for dinner when your too lazy to cook. CASHONLY, so make sure to hit up that atm before coming to grind at this awesome place! Happy Eating!!!

Awesome local food. I ordered the mild Pastele plate and it was delicious! Pastele is their version of a tamale wrapped in banana leaf with pork filling. And their Mac salad? It was made with spaghetti noodles — pretty unique, creamy, and good with everything else on my plate. Our server was super sweet too… thank you!

Best Hawaiian food Ive had from a restaurant! Wasnt sure what to expect coming in but was pleasantly surprised. I got the pastele/tripe stew combo and the kids got the laulau/kalua pig combo. Got a little bit of everything and it was ALL great. Took off a star for being cash only… luckily I had some on me which is rare.

I came here for lunch and it was delish. I got the pasteles plate which comes with gandules rice, baclao salad and mac salad. You can choose mild or spicy for the pastele. I got a side of poi for my son. All delicious food for a reasonable price. Service was friendly. Cash only though. Other items were the Hawaiian plate, fried chicken wings, chicken katsu and loco moco.

Tonight we ordered combination hawaiian plate, chop steak, and pastele plate. I didn’t try the chop steak, but I did try some of the hawaiian and pastele plates. Both were very very salty. It was very hard to enjoy the food because all you tasted was salt when u chewed. I washed it all down with a lot of water. Don’t know if this is a norm or just tonight. We don’t normally eat here.

Best hole-in-the-wall diner for authentic Hawaiian food. My boyfriend wanted a little taste of the island so he ordered the combination Hawaiian plate. It came with foods you’d typically find at a luau; kalua pig, lau-lau, lomi salmon, chicken long rice, white rice with 2 eggs and haupia. I ordered the loco moco. Jackie’s diner is also known for their Puerto Rican fusion so I had to get a side of their pastele too. Turned out to be BOMB and I wish I tried the Spanish rice too. I live for these food gems! If you’re looking for authentic Hawaiian food for a great price Jackie’s Diner is where it’s at!

So the husband and I stopped by the Waimalu shopping Center to originally go to Shiro’s Saimin but decided to go to Jackie’s instead. Glad we did! I’m a huge fan of Hawaiian food and can never find a place that serves all their dishes perfectly. My husband got the Hawaiian plate which came with Laulau, kalua pig, chicken long rice, lomi salmon(best Ive ever tasted), 2 generous scoops of rice and haupia. I got the combination plate which included everything he had minus the chicken long rice. I have to say, after we ate, we went home and crashed! The food had the right amount of flavor. Waaaaaaaay better than Highway Inn on Kakaako. The only drawback is that they didn’t have squid luau and only took cash but the service and onolicious food will have us coming back again. Must try the patele next time.

This place doesn’t look like much but what a gem. They serve Hawaiian and Puerto Rican food. Authentic and full of flavor. I ordered just about everything on the menu. The server said to me,“you hungry!” LOL I ordered Kalua pig, lau lau, chicken long rice, poi, lomi lomi salmon, beef stew, pastele(hot), bacalao salad and haupia. Everything was tasty and amazing. I highly recommend this place to anyone wanting delicious Hawaiian and Puerto Rican food.

My favorite go to place when I’m craving for pastele or Hawaiian food! This place reminds me of an old time diner serving delicious soul food. Whenever I come here I order the hot pastele plate which comes with one yummy pastele, spanish rice, bacalao salad, and mac salad! Every bite is delicious. If I’m really hungry I’ll order the Hawaiian combo(which is A LOT of food) I have been satisfied each time leaving this place. Also, the workers are really nice. I highly recommend giving this place a try if you’re in the area.

Craving for wings on a Friday night and didn’t want to drive far. I Unilocaled it and found Jackie’s diner with 4 solid stars. I decided to see what the rave is about and called for pick up. Thanks for the previous reviews, I brought cash. It was Friday and they were busy and I found myself just standing for a couple of minutes in front of the cashier to pay until he FINALLY realized there’s a customer. I do agree that food is fairly cheap with a serving that can be shared by two. I ordered wings and it tasted like fried drumsticks/wings, nothing special. Jackie’s diner is certainly a hole in a whole and is famous for local food(lau lau, triples, etc). Therefore, in consideration of my personal reasons, experience with«okay» food, ambiance/health concerns and mediocre customer service; I am only giving diner a star.

I came here and got the pastele plate(hot) and the boyfriend got a combination plate. I went in there starving and craving the pastele plate. It come with Spanish rice, pastele, bulacao salad, and macaroni salad(made with spaghetti noodles). The combination plate came with rice, lau lau, kalua pig, chicken long rice, lomi salmon, and haupia. He was debating on whether to the get the two choice but for a dollar more you get all three. I love everything here and even brought home leftovers. The only thing is the hot pastele wasn’t spicy at all so I’m wondering how the mild tastes. It’s a cash only establishment.

5 stars for their Combination Hawaiian Plate for $ 12. To me compared to other hawaiian restaurants, that’s a steal! It comes with Kalua Pig, Lau Lau, and Chicken Long Rice with lomi lomi salmon, haupia, and choice between rice and poi. And portions are sufficient! I left feeling super satisfied, and it definitely didn’t put a dent in my wallet. Sometimes my husband and I pay $ 50 for the two or us for less food, but here, you can get more food for half the price. And it’s tasty. The lady in the back is always making lau lau. Take a peak and you might see her! There is one waitress with about 10 tables. She’s busy but is very sweet and offered me refills for my Sierra mist! The Kalua pig wasn’t too salty. And for me, I’m allergic to salmon, so the lomi lomi salmon actually didn’t have too much salmon which was perfect for me! I usually just eat around the salmon. I haven’t tried anything but their hawaiian food but I’m definitely coming back to try!

It’s hard to find a Hawaiian plate where all the components are cooked exactly how you want it but I think this place definitely gives Highway Inn and Young’s a run for their money! Exactly for that reason too($) it’s cheaper than most restaurants that serve Hawaiian plates and for the same(maybe more) amount of food. You get two choices plus rice/poi and lomi salmon! My mom would always bring me home Kalua Pig from here and I love it so much. Only thing I need to samps is the squid luau, if it’s just how I like it I’ll be a loyal patron from here on out to save some bucks!

Located in Waimalu Shopping Center(aka home of lots of great ethnic restaurants) but horrible parking lot, Jackie’s Diner has been a staple place I grew up eating as a kid in Pearl City. Only place I go for pastele and tripe stew. Not the best ambiance or décor. I always get the pastele and stew plate which comes with 1 pastele, beef or tripe stew(Tripe please!), and white rice. For $ 1 extra you can get gandule rice which I always get. The pastele is well seasoned and the filling is generous. While it is fatty and oily, that’s what you want in my opinion. The tripe stew is rich and flavorful and the tripe is tender and clean. I love the mixture of the gandule beans and anchiote seeds and pork. So delicious and I appreciate it because I know how labor intensive the pastele, stew, and gandule rice are to make. The waitresses are very nice and the Korean owner/cook doesn’t speak much English but always smiles when you say thank you. Only docking one star because I wish they took card(cash only!)

When I’m in the area and I catch a craving for some Hawaiian food or pasteles, I head to Jackie’s! It’s a little hole-in-the-wall restaurant that serves up big flavored dishes! If i’m in the mood for hawaiian food, I get the Hawaiian Plate. You get a choice between Kalua Pig, Pork Lau Lau, and Chicken Long Rice. I usually get the LauLau and Kalua Pig. You also get rice or poi, lomi salmon, and a piece of haupia. So ono! Also, the pastele plate is good too. You get 1 pastele(either mild or hot). The plate also comes with rice, spaghetti«mac» salad, and a salad. Everything goes together really nicely and will definitely fill you up. Plate prices range on average from 9 to 11 dollars. To me, it’s definitely worth the money. Only downfall, if you come during the day the parking sucks. And with rail construction going on sometimes there’s a lot of traffic in this area, but it’s always nice to support a small local business.

Headed to Jackie’s Diner because I was craving pasteles and gandule rice; this plate also comes with bacalao and mac salad. The rice and bacalao salad are pretty awesome. The rice is moist with pieces of pork, gandule beans, and olives. The bacalao salad is a simple iceberg lettuce salad with tomatoes and onions but the dressing is special, it reminds me of an Italian dressing with shredded dried fish. Vinegary, salty, and savory, next time I’m gonna ask for all bacalao salad, no mac. Jackie’s also makes a decent Hawaiian Plate. For the price, you get lau lau, kalua pig, lomi salmon, long rice, poi(or rice), and a haupia square. It’s a lot of food and everything’s pretty tasty. Of you’re in Aiea and don’t want to drive to town, Jackie’s is your stop for a pastele or Hawaiian plate.

Love it! My go to place to get pasteles and Spanish rice with bakalau salad!!! Chili pepper water on the side I can’t wait to enjoy my hot pasteles coming up now! They do everything ho have yummy Lau Lau and tripe strew(so I’m told). If you don’t have time you can get it to go throw a few Lau Lau and pastele in your freezer for when you are ready and heat it up at home! Perfect. My hubby’s new favorite is the ribs. Yup so tender and cooked so well. Anyone who has ever been to jackies knows what’s up!

After spending so many hours doing my hair at a nearby salon, I was starving! The golden thing about technology is you can call ahead of time, order, arrive to get your food, pay and you’re outskis! Hawaiian food is my 2nd favorite food of all time(after Filipino food of course). I automatically got a Hawaiian Plate that comes with lau lau, kalua pig, rice/poi, lomi salmon, and haupia! The portions are massive, even the haupia! The lomi salmon was definitely fresh and was everything I want in it. I definitely want to go back and try their poi. They’re located in the Waimalu Shopping Center next to some other great restaurants I’m sure. Their layout is booths set up all along the wall. Waiting for more customers to step in and have a seat for lunch/dinner. The staff are all willing to serve if they’re probably not having a bad day. Take your time to enjoy Hawaiian food, have a sat and eat up!

This is not the nicest restaurant in the world, but they are cranking out some pretty authentic Puerto Rican food. I was so excited when I saw they are serving tripe stew and pasteles. Oh, and let’s not forget that the price is right. It is pretty cheap, so that is a bonus. They also serve Hawaiian food, so it was an interesting meal. I ordered a plate which came with arroz con guandules, one pastel, and tripe stew. Everything was pretty authentic and delicious. I was actually contemplating ordering a second bowl of tripe stew, but I held out so I could enjoy my haupia. The rice and guandules was I liar to my mom’s and the pasteles were good, but I would have liked more meat. It was more heavy on the masa, and not so heavy on the meat. It was still really tasty though. My hubby ordered a Hawaiian plate, which came with laulau, white rice, mac salad, and he got his own tripe stew too. It was all really good. I think the highlight for me, however, was the Puerto Rican food :)
