So many great things about this place! Awesome workers, a large selection of flavor combos, free parking, cheap deals and an eco-friendly system that allows you to collect points! Say bye-bye to those stamp cards, and hello to the oh-so-simple iPad point collector that they have set up right by the cashier.

At first, I was disappointed Dippin’ Dots was no longer in Pearl Ridge Downtown but when I looked at the menu, I figured«What the heck.» so tried their shaved ice. For the novices, this is different from shave ice in that these folks shave flavored ice to create their bowls versus shave ice which uses regular ice then adds flavor. What’s the big deal? The big deal is every scoop has the same flavor consistency unlike shave ice which gets sweeter and sweeter as you reach the bottom where the syrup has migrated to. These folks have a great selection of toppings and flavor combination such as white chocolate/brown chocolate or strawberry/lychee, etc. For those prone to getting brain freeze, stick with the small. They can pack a surprising large amount of shaved ice in a large bowl. The girl on duty was great and helped us with our selection then quickly prepared the order and we were on our way. It’s no Dippin’ Dots but I’ll definitely be going back for more!

After meeting up with friends to take our keiki on the train ride Uptown, we ventured Downtown for lunch and some Fun Factory. We happened upon this little kiosk that took the place of Dippin Dots, and thought it might be nice treat. I ordered 2 flavor combo of strawberry and lychee, with mochi balls and those little juice ball things. My son loved it, and I was able to keep him content and quiet for the rest of the mall trip. The only things I have a little issue with is the amount of time it takes to make an order(felt like forever when you have a three year old whining), and the two flavors weren’t side by side like I was expecting. My son had to eat through the entire top of strawberry before I could find my lychee flavor all the way at the bottom. Good thing I ordered a small.

Not worth 5 bucks for what we got. I ordered 1 scoop Nutella and 1 scoop Green tea and it had absolutely no taste. I have had shaved ice before and know how the texture is. It was just not right. There are other places for shaved ice but this one is no good.

Hubby and I tried the Mint Chocolate a few weeks ago. A little too minty for us plus we got the large… a little too big too! Haha Yesterday we tried the Cookies ‘n Crème, medium, and PERFECT. Our new dessert stop :)

The menu is big and looks so yummy. It is not icy like normal snow cone but not as rich as ice cream. We got a wrong order even tho we repeated twice what we were ordering because the girl who was working seemed a little off. And the toppings were very little compared to the picture. The flavor also tasted rather boring. I did like the concept being not a typical snow cone but was not impressed.

The service was a little disappointing, the server was talking with her co worker instead of making my desert. At least the snow thing was good and worth the price! I especially loved the lychee balls!

Interesting way to eat shaved ice. It doesn’t melt as quickly too. So many flavors to choose from and I think you may be able to create your own too. No syrups just a chunk of the flavor you choose and shaved in the size of bowl you want. We ordered a medium and thought it was huge. With Mochi on top it was a flavorful treat on a very hot day.
