My favorite bar in Akron! Manny is the sweetest man on Earth! The rooftop deck is so awesome! And Earl the DJ on Thursdays is the best!!!

I was visiting my guy here as he attends AU. We went to let loose after long days. It was alot of fun. The bartenders are really nice. Hell, so was security. Nothing like back here in NY. Reasonably priced, small town atmosphere. It was alot of fun.

A quintessential college bar, complete with awful grammar on the graffiti in the bathrooms. Lots of hard surfaces make it loud no matter how big the crowd is. The beer was cold and my greasy snack did the trick.

Mannys is your basic college bar. There are a lot of people, it’s loud, and if you went there sober you would probably hate your life. If you go to Akron it seems like the place to be because it’s so close to campus and everyone else is there, but Mannys knows that which means drinks aren’t cheap. One cool thing was my whiskey and coke was 90% whiskey, so they make their drinks pretty damn strong.

Stay away from Manny’s Pub, I USED to frequent Manny’s because it was a decent place that was close to campus. However, recently I went there and was overcharged by a substantial amount of money. Luckily I thoroughly checked my credit card statement that month and noticed the charge. When I approached Manny about the matter he allowed me to review the credit card slips. There were 2 slips, one that was mine, and one that was not(but it was charged to my card). The one that was not mine was clearly signed by a different person. In fact, they did not even try to sign my name, they signed their own name(something that clearly started with a ‘C’, but still illegible). However, Manny insisted that I must have closed my tab twice(and used different handwritings???). He claimed I was being disrespectful when I suggested that maybe one of his employees made a mistake(whether it be intentional or not), but in his mind he wasn’t being disrespectful to me when he suggested that I must have been too drunk and not recalled the second tab. Although I had a few drinks, I know I didn’t have as many as the receipts had showed(which I confirmed with about 7 other people I was with). So all in all I would stay away, you have Pints and EuroGyro right down the street instead.

Being a Univ. of Akron alumni, I frequented Manny’s a time or two but really try to avoid going there if I don’t have to. My biggest con: the drinks are small and very pricey being on a college campus. To be honest, it’s really my only big turn off. The place is clean, nice, and Manny(the owner) is always around cleaning glasses, serving drinks, and working just has hard as his employees — that’s a rarity anymore! But to clarify from the last post, this is anything BUT a dive bar, and the music is up to the customers of the night so you can’t predict it. I’d probably like it a lot more if their prices catered their customers more, i.e. college students. And like most bars around campus there is a $ 10 credit card minimum.

I used to frequent Manny’s back in the day when it was on the corner of Exchange St. and Spicer because I lived on Spicer. My roommates and I came here all the time for cheap drinks and a chill atmosphere, the bartenders were awesome and Manny himself ususlly made an appearance at some point during the night, really nice guy! When I found out they were knocking it down I was pretty sad but then I learned they would be re-opening down the street. I came to the re-opening of Manny’s and it was really fun. The bar was busy, they had their notorious shots of the night, always fruity and delcious for just $ 1. Jams coming from the juke box. really can’t beat it. The new bar itself looks great on the inside, which is nice because I hate to say it but the old Manny’s was a bit run down… but that’s what I liked, it had character. However the bathrooms at the old Manny’s were pretty gross, the bathrooms now are spoless and new. This place will always have a special place in my heart, I just love it to death. It’s definitely a dive bar type vibe with great people, lots of laughing and awesome music. I recommend stopping by if you’re feelin’ that.
