Overall, the food was great. There was a 15 minute wait, which they said there would be(I was glad they were true to their word, although I hoped it would be a little less … at least it wasn’t more). I originally heard of this place because of the Groupon I purchased, but on that later(also part of the reason why I gave it 3⁄5 stars). I would actually give this place a 3.5 stars out of 5 … not quite a 4, but more than 3. If only that were an option. Anyway, our waitress was super great, even though the place was getting slammed. We were never waiting for anything. And like I said before, we got sat pretty quickly. I ordered the Mexican omelet, and I was brave and got it with tomato and onion(I do not like either of these, but since I like salsa, I figured that they would be OK in the omelet). And I was right. It was so delicious … filled with salsa, cheddar cheese, onion, green peppers and tomatoes. Way too much though. It also came with hash browns, which are one of my favorite breakfast foods. They were slightly browned and crispy, and so good. The best part was the homemade cinnamon raisin bread though, which was to die for. Highly recommend. Now, like I said before, I ordered a Groupon a few months ago, and it is expiring on Monday. So I thought today would be a good day to use it. I was wrong. I did not read the fine print, and I am now stuck with a Groupon to Michael’s AM that I can only use M-F. This is a problem because I work full-time. So I was not very happy about this. Granted, I should have read the fine print, but it is still silly to make a Groupon Monday through Friday when you only serve breakfast and lunch, and close at 2. So now I am losing the promotional value of it. Who knows when I will make it back there with my work schedule to use it.

So, this is my favorite breakfast place, and I LIVE for breakfast! My personal favorite has got to be the eggs Benedict. If you have never had it before, I sincerely don’t suggest trying it anywhere else first, they are the only place I have found that makes the hollandaise properly! Every once in a while, I’ll splurge and eat the crab cake Benedict, it’s pretty delicious as well! Yes, you have to add a little pepper to the potatoes, but when everything is cooked perfectly, why complain about needing to add salt and pepper to taste?!? They always cook the eggs to perfection, from omelets to poached eggs(yes, I know most people don’t get poached eggs), and even my husband who likes sunny side up gets his right! Where else can a six person family go, get six different things for breakfast, and everything comes out perfectly done?!? I used to go here with my mom when I was little, then moved down south for about 15 years. When I moved back up to the Akron area, I had to restart the breakfast and a hike tradition!

We’ve dined here several times past few years and always good. Not sure if it was the new or the old ownership when we went a month or so ago but it was really good. Best Greek omelet I’ve had in Akron, ahead of Akron Family and Farmer Boy. Generous portion filled w lots of spinach and feta. Good coffee and pancakes and everything else was good. Can get crowded Sat morning but worth the wait.

I still give Michales AM four stars but they now have new ownership and are making improvements. If you are one of the regulars everything you like about the place is still there so don’t worry. I spoke to the kitchen manager/head cook(he does not go by chef) when I was there yesterday and he shared what is coming with the ownership change. The goal is made on premise, local if possible and fresh. They now run specials Monday thru Friday and not just something from the regular menu. Something they made special for that day. They are using up the pre made salad dressings and are making their own. Also fresh baked bread(not dough bought and baked on-site) but bread they make themselves. The head cook tells me more of the same will be coming in the months ahead. If you liked this place before you still will… if you haven’t been in awhile I recommend stopping in and trying the new. PS: They will get 5 stars if they execute on what I heard.

The best breakfast around hands down. Food is fresh and not greasy. The staff is friendly and very efficient. Wouldn’t have breakfast anywhere else!

Great breakfast and brunch. Try the pecan waffle, eye opener or a homemade soup. Also ask about the lunch specials.

D. Rather a quiet place. There was no background music playing so conversation maybe heard in the booths near by. I ordered The Classic; 2 eggs over easy, sausage patties, hash browns, rye toast. The hash browns were the same as other places I have eaten at, the eggs were cooked right, the sausage patties where just sausage patties, could be the same as the place down the road. Nothing stood out. The waitress was pleasant even though I hem hauled around with my order. The toast had a good rye flavor and was buttered(or margarined) completely, not just in the middle. With coffee it came to $ 10.16. I’ve eaten the same breakfast at other places much less expensive, but Michael’s AM is in a higher rent area and much nicer and larger than the others. It’s was OK. M– As my distinguish food critic has laided out this restaurant is your mother’s dinner. I had the country fried steak I think this meal hits a lot of cords on food preparation. The meal was predictable it could have used some work on the sausage gravy that had all the marks of a packet mix. It is such a balance to find a quality meal among the sea of quick, cheap, and quality on to our next meal

Decent brunch fare. Good service. Very long and somewhat claustrophobic wait to be seated.

I don’t think anything here we’ve tried is blow-you-out-of-the-water amazing, but they do a good solid job on breakfast & a limited lunch menu. Good pancakes, egg dishes… I’m told the BLT was good. Decent coffee, excellent service, and a pretty good veggie Reuben. Fries could have been hotter & crisper. Yes, it could be described to an extent as somewhat bland, old people food, but it’s well-executed, somewhat bland, old people food.

11.00 was a bit pricey for a small plate of hash and eggs. Other than that it was good.

I can’t believe these reviews. I have been coming here for ever. I travel with hubby a LOT. I know the difference between an okay place, a stab in the dark place and a consistently good place. Most local breakfast places are sloppy with service or food or cleanliness. This is consistently good and super clean. The chef and staff and owner take pride in their restaurant. Some staff here have been here for more than 20 years And you can tell they love their job. For sure that extends through to the livelihood of the place and quality food. The food is not greasy, good quality and good quantity. I have never need disappointed here. And I’ve tried nearly everything. It is not fancy! It is not meant to be. Local vibe, friendly staff, good food. Love vege Ruben, crab cakes bene, French toast, home made soups, chili, even the oatmeal is good(not watered down like most places)! If you have to wait for a table, don’t worry the host and hostess are awesome at their jobs and always get it right. Never have to wait for long.

This place is my favorite place to eat breakfast. It is 2 minutes away, the people are amazing, and the food has that homemade style to it. I love the waffle. Definitely try it if you’re in the area

Overall, Michael’s AM was decent. We will start with the pros: The prices were reasonable, the service was friendly, there was no wait on a Sunday morning, the establishment was clean, and the vegetable omelet was a solid choice. The cons: The restaurant was incredibly dated, the sign on the outside makes it look like a dentist’s office, the coffee was too watery, my girlfriend was the youngest customer by approximately 40 years, and while the omelet was a solid choice it was nothing to brag about either. I don’t think you will leave upset, but you probably won’t leave WOWed either.

This place is ok. We had friendly service both times we were here. The food is just OK and I think it is a tad overpriced for what you get. I had eggs bene both times and I am not sure why I ordered it the second time becuase it was bland the first time. Cash only.

Yuk. Bland and tasteless food. #1 reason why I guess it looks like an old folks home there all the time. Here’s a tip —- Salt And Pepper!!!

This place is okay. Decent service. I got the country skillet with bacon, which was okay, but just too much bacon. I know you maybe thinking that there’s no such thing, but the bacon just overwhelmed the eggs and has brown at the bottom. Their house coffee isn’t very good either; it’s on the burnt side of life. However, they did have a special pecan coffee, which wasn’t too bad. The bakery items looked good, but after being disappointed by the breakfast, I wasn’t in the mood to spend some more in hopes to salvage the not so great feeling that the food left in my stomach. Also, they don’t take credit cards and their ATM is broken currently; so make sure you have some cash on ya.

Nobody has reviewed this yet? UM, YOU’REWELCOME. On the search for another brunch spot on a Sunday morning I used my handy little iphone app and found this gem. Thank you iPhone because I LOVE this place. It’s on the smaller side tucked into a random shopping center in The Valley. When we first went I thought it would smell of booze and cigarettes from the hard parties the night before but no, very much the opposite. There has always been a wait on the weekends but so worth it. The service is awesome and the food even better! The eggs benedict is my favorite and they have awesome hashbrowns. WIN, WIN, WIN! Cash only though :) Go and thank me later!
