Gone! I’m pretty sure that space has had more unsuccessful attempts at new businesses than any other single address in Akron.

Sometimes, just sometimes, two is NOT better than one. I keep scratching my head on why Primo’s thought it was a good idea to open a very unique deli in Akron, middle of basically an area being taken over by campus kids. Yes, drunk kids like to eat but those places have already been established in downtown Akron. Jimmy Johns, which delivers I might add. Diamond Deli, the always amazing Lockview, even Subway! BUT, I think I figured it out. They must have thought the trick was to make Primo’s a restaurant/dance club/get beat up in front of the building on a Saturday night, kind of establishment. Sorry Primo’s, it just is not working. Your service was OK, she kind of knew the menu but you had only been open a week so I give her some slack. The food was good, tasted the same to me. Same chips and dip which made me smile. So where did you go wrong? THEAMBIENCE. I’m sorry, but nothing says a tuna melt and an IPA like Lil Wayne playing so loud you cannot have conversation with your table-mates. If you’re looking for the true Primo’s experience, skip this one. But, if you’re starving, drunk and in need of food in downtown Akron… go to Jimmy John’s :p :p

Remember when there was still life on Romig Road? I do. After many of our trips to Rolling Acres Mall, we would go to Primo’s, for delicious sandwiches and enough potato chips to raise our cholesterol 10 points. That location is still alive, but not open on Sundays. So when we heard about a new location in downtown Akron that was open on Sundays, we decided to go and check it out! I wish I had never gone in here. The sandwiches were terrible. I had a BLT with egg. The egg was overcooked and the bread was burnt. The only thing worse than the food is the service. The waitress was slow, and mad at us for interrupting her super important hangouts with her friends. I try to find something positive when I do these reviews. The only one I can think of is that I didn’t get food poisoning. I will never return to this location.

I can’t not describe how much I love the original Primo’s, and I was excited to see that they had opened up downtown and closer to my home. If you love the original, go there! This location does not taste like the original in any way. The menu is the same as the original, but the delivery is no where close. Let me start off by rating the staff. I would of gave this location two stars, but the staff actually changed my mind. They are not friendly, and very slow. Which is very surprising considering there was only one other couple eating there at the same time. They also didn’t know the menu very well and forgot the hot mix after we had asked for it twice. The sandwich itself was way off. I ordered the turkey ruben like I do every time we visit Primo’s. The coleslaw had no flavor, and no carrots. It was like eating a scoop full of mayo and cabbage. And since I ordered the sandwich toasted, it was warm, mayo and cabbage. Bad. Really bad. The turkey was really dry and 1000 island dressing looked like they had it sitting out all day. I love Primo’s, but I will not be back to this location.

A Primo’s closer to home, and a bonus it’s open on Sunday too! The atmosphere is quite different from the Vernon Odom Blvd. location. This location, across the street from the Canal Park Stadium, home of the Aeros’, is tailored to the entertainment scene. Live music and entertainment and a full bar gives this location a different vibe than the ktischy deli vibe the original has, that’s not bad, just different. The food is just as good! The bottled beer selection is smaller, but the full service bar makes up for that. Same potato chips, friendly service. I’ll end up coming back for dinner and evenings after class.
