Arrived here one evening around 5pm. I knew it was a bad sign when there wasn’t one other car in the parking lot, but we were hungry so we stayed. We were 1st timers at Skyway so we didn’t really know what to expect, so decided to try a little bit of everything. The cheeseburgers are a cheap imitation of a Swenson burger, I felt like they were trying to duplicate the bun but it just wasn’t working. It was cold & a little stale. The French fries were the same as any fast food restaurant. They had the Burger King flavor and were like McDonald’s in size. We also ordered a Veggie Burger for my daughter, and it was pretty disgusting. The ingredients in it weren’t ground up like most other veggie burgers, instead in it were big chunks of corn and vegetables & beans molded together to form a big black overcooked patty. Needless to say, it went in the trash. I ordered the fish combo, the fish was hot, I’ll give them that, but was overly battered with a thick crumble of who knows what, and I’m pretty that’s what gave me food poisoning that night. A frozen box of Van de Kamps is about a thousand times better. I wanted to like this place, but unfortunately next time I’m in the area I’m sure I’ll drive right by and leave the place empty once again.

Love their sky high. Got here 2 minutes prior to closing from out of town, they were very gracious about staying over.

This lonely, sad place will leave you feeling as though you just took one for the team. I had high hopes for this place. Truly, I did. I live near this Skyway and was hoping it was better than Swenson’s. Not even close. I can only speak for this one in Green — and hold out hope that maybe the Skyway in Fairlawn or Medina can offer more. This particular location features food that sets a new standard in mundane. I hate to break their secret and share their recipes with you, but here is how you make food identical to the Skyway in Green: Buy a combo meal at Burger King and let it sit in your fridge for a week. Voilà! Solid mediocrity right there for ya. But is the atmosphere great? Nope. Are the servers anything to write home about? Nopers. If you simply put on a blindfold and follow your nose to any surrounding restaurant, you will be much happier than if you stayed here.

Ehhhhhhh I really don’t get whats so great about this place. Burger was decent, the fries had nooo seasoning, and the milkshake machine was broken. Probably won’t make it a habit to visit this place.

The food is far from healthy, but still very good, especially the burgers. They are cash-only, but they do not tell customers about this when taking orders over the phone.

In Akron, there are two kings in town(well, three if you include Mayor Plusquellic as a «king»): Skyway and Swensons. Both restaurants were featured on an episode of «Food Feuds», where Chef Michael Symon of Cleveland visited both places and announced a «winner»(which was Swensons, btw). This place opened in up Green sometime around 2000. My optometrist is next door, yet I’ve somehow only been here once. The I-77/Arlington Road corridor, which this Skyway is technically a part of, has its fair share of burger joints and greasy spoons. Skyway is one of the few — if not the only — burger chain that is locally-owned along this corridor. Swensons is best known for their Galley Boy sandwich, but Skyway serves a strangely similar burger called the SkyHi Sandwich. The Sky Hi is best-described as a double hamburger(or cheeseburger, if you like it like that) with a «special sauce». That«special sauce» was Thousand Island Dressing. The SkyHi, in the grand scheme of burgers, isn’t as overwhelmingly good, such as its older brother, the Galley Boy. It’s tasty, but I felt like there was something about the burger that made it resemble a Wendy’s burger with Thousand Island more than a Galley Boy — Wendy’s is acceptable on most nights, but Swensons blows Wendy’s out of the water. I also ordered their fries and a drink. Their fries weren’t special — they were thick and salty, although Swensons isn’t particularly known for their fries, either. Like Swensons, you are served in your car by a bellhop, although their proposed location by the University of Akron on the corner of Spicer & Exchange Streets is going to axe the car-dining experience in lieu of a diner format. Skyway isn’t a bad place to eat out by any stretch of the imagination. However, Akron has a dense burger market, and Skyway simply fails to match up with the big boys like the Oklahoma Sooners in a BCS Bowl against a team not from Connecticut.
