4 stars because the service can be lackluster at times. other than that this place is a step above other breakfast places and still very reasonable.

Everything you look for in a good breakfast place on a Saturday/Sunday morning. Mimosas(didn’t have one) and the bomb bloody mary’s extra horseradish! Healthy options, although, I had the Wake Up Call(spicy potatoes and chorizo omelet) — great menu! Great service, no need to look for your waiter, available to pour your coffee or freshen up that bloody mary. There was a 15min wait, but they have an empty counter that seemed to be available.(They also have free coffee while you wait!) 5 stars for me!

Some of the highest quality breakfast food around. Service is excellent, food comes exactly how you order it. Plus, they have a great drink menu; where else can you get a bourbon latte? I highly recommend this establishment

Good breakfast spot. We just stopped in on a whim and got some omelettes. My son enjoyed his chocolate chip pancakes and the fruit cup that came with it is a plus. I had the wake up call, which is an omelette with potatoes, hot sauce, pepper jack cheese and chorizo sausage. It was good just needed a little salt but it was good. There was so much stuff we wanted to try so we will definitely be back!

This was a good breakfast find and surprisingly busy at 10:30 on a weekday. Service was fast and friendly with attention to my coffee mug. I had a yogurt/fruit parfait. It was reasonable, but for the price, I expected a bit more, and while the presentation in a parfait cup was cute, when served with a regular sized spoon(not a long ice tea or parfait spoon), there was a bit of a challenge in eating all of it from the bottom of the cup without looking like a fool or keeping my hand clean. Parking was easy, the atmosphere was a nice mix between a place where you could meet friends and spend hours and a quick in and out on your way to your next thing.

Went here awhile ago and I wasnt impressed. Our food was cold in that it sat on the counter for about 20 minutes prior to our waitress bringing it to us… and dont get me started on their potatoes that they season with crushed red pepper seeds and no other flavors just hot arsed potatoes smdh.

This is probably my favorite breakfast place!!! So so so good, and great Bloody Mary’s! Same owners as Arnie’s, always present, walking around helping and saying hello!

Arrived about 1030 and waited 30 minutes. Food wasn’t bad, just waited for table and waited longer than others who came after us for food.

This is the only way I «Open My Eyes» on the weekends! We’ve been exploring the breakfast joints locally, and I have to say I’ve found some solids. However this is the one I constantly return to, to the frequency of weekly in most cases. Now not only do they boast a perfect AM drink menu, after all the name is the«Eye(O) Opener» and they do well in that area. From a wide range of bloody marry’s, mimosas, and other cocktails; this is a great local spot to pick up your first meal, and Drink … hehee… of the day. Menu wise, I have to admit I’ve not gotten to deep, mainly because I am beyond happy with what I’ve tried and it is really hard to move me past some of the«classics», 1. Eggs Benedict — A simple breakfast dish which is often murdered and butchered by most places. Eye Opener has a pretty damn good one. 2. Croissant Sandwich — It’s big, full of egg, and likely to put your to sleep! It is also simple. Sometimes simple is best. Specials: 1. When Avl, you must try the«Chicken and Waffles» — They don’t mess around here, chicken is seasoned very strongly(nice blend of salt and pepper) with real maple syrup drizzled over a A Belgium waffler stuffed with bacon bits… i mean, it is dayum good. Sadly I’ve only encountered this once… 2. Crab Benedict — It amazes me how people can jack this one up, but like a normal Benedict, it is often jacked and introducing crab in to the picture typically puts the nail in that coffin. However here, surprisingly, the crab proportion was perfect. The crab isn’t too fishy, which is a common theme with Crab Bene… and to boot they throw in a nice side salad with grapefruit, onions, olives, and more. trust me, get it if this pops up again! So there you have it, it a nut shell this is a great spot to grab a breakfast! I’ve yet to try anything else here but my thoughts are I doubt I will be too disappointed. A Note Of Caution: On weekends, this place will get packed and I’m talking to the point of waiting 30+ mins. My advice to all, arrive before 10AM. It seems 10AM is the queuing nightmare for this place.

Food was wonderful, prices were not. Our waitress, Liz, filled our drinks and brought us our food and we never saw her again. 8 – 10 empty tables in the place and she was too busy chit chatting with other staff members to bring us a refill or a check. We waited for 15 minutes after we were done eating and at that point I had to go ask for my check. Horrible service. We won’t be back.

This down the road breakfast/brunch establishment is a new fave of mine… why did it take me so long to try this place!!! Bloody Mary’s, awesome and different breakfast specials(again not your typical eggs, bacon, toast — though that’s available). The first time we went I had a lobster omelette topped with many different, amazing goodies with a side of breakfast potatoes(amazing too) and toast. This was for $ 9.99! I told my husband that Bob Evans or any other breakfast chain can stick it! The next time we went it was a week later for brunch. I ordered a custom omelette with crab and he ordered a chicken salad. Of course, each time I ordered a Bloody Mary… when in Rome, right!!!(If you don’t know my reviews you should… if there’s alcohol I usually order). The service each time we’ve went was quick, helpful and while there is usually a wait, it usually goes quite quick. We have 2 little ones, and though we haven’t taken them there yet its perfectly acceptable for them to join as there are many families that are dining there the few times we’ve been there. A staple in our breakfast routine for sure! And what’s great, we can walk there… but if you do drive I suggest just parking in the rear of the building and using the back entrance… easier than trying to dodge a one-way parking lot.

Vegetarian Eggs Benedict with Homemade Hollandaise!!! Dynamic atmosphere. Great service. Our favorite breakfast place when we don’t want to pay for the Blue Door.

One of the best breakfast places in Akron. Belgian waffle is better than Wally Waffle. I got the red eye hash which was ok. I’m not really a potato type of person but it was filling. They have the best sweet potato fries and you have to get the Huckleberry Vodka lemonade. Super refreshing. Ask for Dontae. He was a great waiter!!!

Great local gem. Atmosphere is laid back, you’ll find an homage to Akron’s history decorating the walls. Prices are fair, it’s good quality for your money. I took off one star because they seem to have outgrown their space. I don’t mind the 15 – 25 minute wait but it gets uncomfortable when you’re packed like sardines with other waiting customers in a very small space. It doesn’t bother me enough to avoid eating there, though.

Friend and I went here for breakfast. Server was nice but we probably only seen here twice, and that was for drinks and to bring our food. Our food was lukewarm, my friend actually had to get up and go to the register to ask for fresh, hot hash browns. The server took them and I watched the cook pop them in the microwave… does hot and fresh mean nothing to you? The server avoided us at all cost. Needless to say she didn’t receive a tip

Had Red Eye Hash would have been amazing if there had been more meat. I could count the tiny pieces of cut up corned beef that was delicious. I was more than disappointed that the potatoes were overwhelming the dish. My husband said his pancakes were the worst. Coffee was great atmosphere nice servers and manager nice. May be a while before we go again. But glad we tried it!

A wonderful place to get delicious breakfast food any time of the day. Great service, good food, local owners. In the mornings on weekends you may be waiting 20 minutes, it’s a pretty popular hang out. Prices are more than reasonable and where else can you get a mimosa and a bloody Mary with your eggs Benedict? Great place and I’ll definitely be back!

I’ve been to The Eye Opener a number of times and have always been satisfied. Overall, the food is above average, and the only reason I don’t give them a 5 star is because nothing has really wowed me. I got the Thin Lizzy with crab meat just yesterday and it was pretty good. I will continue to go The Eye Opener, and continue my search for that«slap me in the face» entrée.
