Alameda 76 Gas Station

Always more expensive than the Chevron down the street.
Also, I drove in with a flat tire to fill it with air. Told the lady I would buy gas after I filled up my flat tire (didn’t want to drive on my flat anymore) she told me no I had to fill up with Gas first. She would not turn on the air till after I purchased gas. Really? I filled up my tank then filled up my tire. Will never go back.

Usually the highest prices in Alameda. Drive one more block and get your gas at the AM PM /​Arco mini mart. Absolutely no need to pay too much in Alameda. Stay on the Park Street side of Alameda for gas. But stay away from this 76 station.

If you have a German car (or any auto for that matter) you need to bring it to see Ray! He’s a magician and really knows his stuff. He has saved me twice, most recently he literally saved my engine. Why pay twice as much at the dealer when you have a mechanic who treats you as a friend that you can trust, knows as much if not more than the dealer, and charges way less for labor. A++ for this shop. I have been to many and lived all over the U.S. And this is my favorite shop hands down. Give it a try!

They did a great job fixing my Honda… I was having overheating problems…
I was frustrated because the prior shop charged me too much but then didn’t fix the problem… so I came in very skeptical.
Raymond the Mechanic was very thorough… gave me a very fair price, several options… and had me bring car back in after fixing it to recheck fluid levels, etc
They were very fast! And very friendly… use good parts and worked with me and my budget… very on point and quick as guy mentioned earlier…
Made my visit very comfortable… Definately a repeat! I will be bringing my car back for future repairs…
And likely patronize for gas too… while price for gas is higher it is better quality…
So will be treating my car a bit nicer :)

Just feel like they try to shaft you! But was soooo refreshing to find a good, down to earth and honest mechanic!!!

Got my smog check done here. Price was higher than I expected but than again, I don’t know how it compares to other places since I didn’t get quotes from other places. Tried to use my card here but cash only it seems. Service was quick and on point. The guy there, I assume it’s Raymond from all the Unilocal reviews, was nice and offered me student discounts for future service if I come back. Overall great service and that is all it matters.

Ray has done everything he can for me as a customer and more. Every time I come in he explains what is wrong with the car in the simplest terms, and tries his best to make the customer happy and satisfied. I have been going here for about a year now, and he is a mechanic I trust very well and recommend to others. Not only is he a great mechanic but he is just so positive about his work and life that it makes it interesting to come here and talk to him about what new things he is getting into with his cars. You can guarantee that he will give you fast great service and will let you know honestly what is going on with your car. He also tries to save you money by telling you what is necessary to fix right away and what isn’t. Since I am hardly familiar with auto mechanics it is important for me to understand what is going on with my car, and he makes it very simple. So definitely check him out if you have any car troubles or even just questions about your car. :)

Ray at Alameda Alfa Auto Repair displayed all of this and more regarding my experience with his place.
I needed to trust him in regard to my 17 year old daughter needing car service. Being 2500 miles away it is of the utmost importance to feel like you were treated fairly and like family.

When that great East Bay group, Tower of Power (aka T.O.P) was big decades ago, their first big hit album was called «East Bay Grease».

And at that time, Oakland was just that, pretty greasy, although the Raiders were great back then. But always standing a little bit above the grease pools around it, was the City of Alameda. Big enough to have it’s own Community College, but bumped together with its neighbor and access route in and out, Oakland, can’t combine to make a city with half a million people.

This little 76 station is right off one of the main streets in this Island City. It isn’t much, with a couple of islands, small convenience shop, but the gas prices were generally competitive to reasonable places outside this little oasis of surburbia called Alameda, amidst the industrial part of the East Bay. When you live in Alameda surrounded by Oakland and water, it makes it very hard to go outside.
Which reminds me of Tower of Power’s next album, entitled «Tower of Power», with their biggest hit, «So Very Hard to Go». Here it is:

Well, enough of Alameda, time for a reality check, and back through the tube, or over the bridges, back to Oakland.

By the way, those who don’t know TOP, if you watch Saturday Night Live regularly, the Saxophone playing band leader, Lenny Pickett, used to be on the Tower of Power. Not an original member like Emilio Castillo, Greg Adams, Rocco Prestia, and David Garibaldi, but a great addition. They have had over 60 musicians play for them over the decades, and still tour today.
Ask your East Bay Uncles and Aunts, or maybe Great Uncles and Great Aunts, about them. They were Oakland’s own version of the group Chicago, as in Chicago Transit Authority. Oh, you may not know them either.
