I always go here to get my blunt wraps, and if I want any alcohol this is my go to place… always friendly. I do think the one guy could of gave me a break on a 10 cent bag,.,.I forgot to ask for one after I had already paid with my card and then asked for one and he was like 10 cents I said oh darn I don’t have any change I will have to use my card… Then I thought to myself why get charged my 2.50 debit charge over 10 cents and said nevermind… he said okay then have a good day. Like really though? LMAO It’s all good though.

This is a great store for what it is: a place to buy alcohol and snacks when it’s late and your party’s run dry, or it’s a hot day and you want a cold soda. The owners/employees are friendly. The prices are high like any convenience store, but the prices are consistent(they don’t try to charge more just because you’re dressed nice), and they don’t try to rip you off by «accidentally» overcharging you at the register like some other late night liquor stores do. Did I mention that they’re open late? They’re one of the last liquor stores on Webster to close in the evening, and they have a good selection of booze, beer, and wine, both the cheap stuff and the good stuff. It is clean and well lit in here. The stuff on the shelves isn’t covered with a film of sticky dust. It doesn’t even smell bad! After I’d become a regular customer, I asked if they could stock a favorite drink of mine that’s hard to find. They asked their distributor and had it in stock for me within a week at a reasonable price. These guys know how to run a business! They apparently stock a good selection of harder to find tobacco products as well. My friend was looking for some kind of fancy clove cigarettes that most places don’t carry, and they had a wide selection behind the counter. As others have mentioned, some of the customers who come in here can be a bit sketchy, especially in the later hours. I’ve encountered the occasional belligerent teen throwing a fit ’cause they won’t sell her booze without an ID, or an angry thug who doesn’t have enough $ for his 40oz and doesn’t want to leave without it. Apparently the riff-raff of Alameda favors this place, so if you’re the type of Alamedan who’s uncomfortable in Oakland, this isn’t the place for you after dark. Having said that, I’ve never felt unsafe(but I’m a large male), and the few times people have gotten out of hand when I’ve been in there, the owners kicked the offender out of the store and apologized to the other customers. They’re very friendly and professional, which is not an easy thing to maintain when some of your customers are idiots. PS — I don’t know why some people are saying it’s an eyesore. It’s clean inside and on the outside they have that cool old small town«Liquor» sign. I’d much rather have them stay in business then the 7 – 11 monstrosity down the street!

On my way to a function, I pulled over at BBL coming out of the Webster tube into Alameda. This small store is cramped and crowded. I found what I was looking for but ended up paying more than average. Nice selection though. You’ll find your usual beers, sodas, snacks and behind the counter, liquor and tobacco products. Saved me in a crunch but paid the convenience price. Parking is tricky in their small lot

Better Buy Liquors slapped me with a credit card fee. This is illegal. Be aware before you purchase with credit card. I’ve reported them to Visa.

Good beer and milk for the toddler. What more could you ask for? They don’t inflate the prices to make you gasp. If this is your local drop in location, don’t be afraid at all! Go for it!

Better Buy has many of the necessites a grocery carries + beer. beer is well represented in both microbrew six packs and big bottles. mainstream beers also. also all beers priced or the price is inferred.(single frame pricing). expect 6 packs micros to be the same as whole foods) pour: kona brewing, longboard island lager, 22 oz. 4%? not listed 3.39 + –light tasting brew, real lager 2.5 stars(not a lager lover) on draught: –friendly chitchat by arab clerks –good selection of brews albeit a little pricey. –friendly, you forget about the added expense…

You feel like you’re gonna get shot or carjacked… …even driving by this place. I’ve seen cops practically surrounding the outside twice now. Sleazy, shady, ghetto, the works! No bueno . It’s your average reeeeally small convenient store, just super trashified.(I know this isn’t necessarily their fault, still though, it doesn’t change the fact that you drive by and you see all this grime — all of the time). It’s an eyesore. I don’t like it. Shouldn’t be in Alameda. One word: Condemn.

Better Buy Liquors is excellent for emergencies. Once I shopped here for toilet paper when I didn’t feel like walking all the way to Walgreen’s or Lucky’s. It’s not the best toilet paper, but it’s toilet paper just the same. The same can be said for the rest of the merchandise. It’s your basic, no frills quickie mart.
