If you make an appointment, they apparently still won’t start work for 2 hours. Not a bright bunch here.

I purchased a brand new set of tires here back in October of 2015. Great experience and customer service from everyone except for Zane the new guy who was supposed to be helping me. I went in this last Monday to get a tire fixed. Was helped by Gary the person who runs the place, very nice. Pulls up my account and the first thing he says is that when I bought my tires they didn’t do an alignment. So while they have my car I have one done only to find out that my alignment is now messed up and have to buy an aftermarket kit if I want it fixed. For someone that uses their car a lot and is a part time driver for a ride share company, I wish I never would have purchased my tires there and trusted them with my car.

I had a great experience here. Kevin took care of me and provided above average customer service. He was very helpful, talked me through all of the details, and triple checked to make sure the service I needed and the invoice was correct before finalizing anything. Aside from Kevin, everyone else here was very friendly too! Great customer experience.

So busy that it took a couple hours for them to rotate my tires and check for leaks. The guy who checked me in was extremely thorough and my tires seem happier now. Unfortunately Big O’s computers aren’t connected so even though I’ve been to 2 other locations they didn’t have my info. Next time I will make an appointment — and not that cannot be done same day.

I had an exceptional experience at this location. Although it was very busy, they gave extremely great service and even made a ballon for my fussy toddler. The pricing is fair and with such attentive staff I will definitely keep my business here.

Fast friendly and courteous as always. Been going there for years. 3 sets of tires, 1 set of shocks, brake inspections and tire rotations. Easy peasy, buy your tires there and all the quality service comes with them. For life. Took in my recent blown out tire. Large rock hit it just right and punched a hole the size of your fist in the side wall. Expected some hassle over freebie replacement as it is a 4 wheel drive pick up.
No worries. Drive in, get greeted pleasantly and receive immediate attention for my problem.
Half hour and a free new tire. Love these guys.

Great customer service!!! So friendly and nice! Gary and Mike are great to their customers. My repairs got a little bit wonky and they went above and beyond to make it right. I don’t even live in Alameda, but the travel time is worth it.

Got a flat tire yesterday driving through Oakland. Had to put the spare tire on my own and called a few companies that fix tires. Finally got a hold of one that was very accommodating and helpful. If you haven’t guessed it yet, it’s Big O Tires haha. So went straight there after work and met with Elliot who was very helpful. They were a little busy and he asked if I could leave my tire over night. I was completely fine with waiting until the next day. Got a called from Elliot at 6PM and he told me that I had a screw DRIVER in my tire! Luckily they were still able to repair it. I asked what time they closed and they said 5:30PM. I asked if I could just pick it up and put it on myself and he told me that they would do it! Take note they were already closed!* Soooo… I rushed over there and made it in 15 mins and they placed my tires on and even checked the rest of my tires. Such great service! Thank you Elliot and Mike D for all your help today!!! If only I could give u guys 1 000 000 stars, I would! Haha thanks for saving the day! :)

These people are great. I have had the same mechanic for three years and he said I need front breaks and rotors.($ 350)
I went to John after I saw all the wonderful Unilocal reviews and he said if I needed breaks it would only be $ 195 and once it was actually up on the rack he came back with even better news and said «you don’t need anything» I still had 50% on front and back! Wow! He saved me from someone else taking my money! I have another car and John will be my man from now on!!!

Very busy location, every one was busy, and as soon as we walked in, some one offered water, and service with a great smile. Which tire company does that?
They matched COSTCO price, and we were out with in 1 hour.

I have a Toyota Camry, 2010. And anyone who knows their Camry from that time seriously knows you can end up going through a lot of tires. Well this is my 3^rd round and the Manager Mike D really helped me find the best deal in my price range. He was helpful and educated on what would work best for my car. In and out in about and hour or so and I couldn’t have been happier. I will be coming here again.

Update: The owners once they heard word of what happened did a rare stand up thing when it came to resolving this. For one they paid for the necessary repairs to get my wifes car to get fixed at the Lexus Dealership and the other the owner insisted on meeting us in person to apologize. From there he also refunded the entire amount we paid to Big-​O for the original repairs at his shop. He was deeply concerned about what had happened and ensured us he has looked into this and will ensure this never happens to anyone else again.

Have always been a huge fan and a long time customer of this Alameda shop, yet starting feeling a bit skeptical after the last few visits of what I felt were strong up selling tactics [pushing you to get more than you needed]. But I wanted to offer them another chance. Wonder no more. Today is was just criminal what they did.
Came in for for simple alignment with my $ 20 off coupon… and got a call a few hours later saying my $ 99 alignment had ballooned to over $ 1300 because they discovered a ‘leaky water pump.’ He went into graphic detail about how it was wet all around and needed to have all the hoses and coolant replaced too ‘just to safe.’ Well, just to be safe, I got my car the hell out of there and took it to another local shop to find out if there really was an issue.
I now have an invoice for $ 0.00 from Alameda Auto Care Center declaring that multiple tests were done to pressure test the cooling system and NO LEAKS. No shit and total shit all at the same time. They will get my business from now on and it’s back to Costco I go for tires.
I am more than saddened by their dishonest tactics. The place is jammed with people, sitting in their hot waiting area and we’re all working too hard for our money to be cheated out of more than $ 1000 for something that was never broken and didn’t need to be fixed. Buyer beware and be warned, go elsewhere.

Whoa?! What happened here? This is an update to my first review… This stores service made a huge improvement by adding more service techs and using a fast in and out system when dropping off…
I was barely in the building before being helped and the place was busy which in the past meant WAIT… I wasn’t offered anything I didnt go for either which was a change… Nice turnaround Big O!

So there we were at 8:30 in the morning, the kids are buckled in their car seats, the picnic is in the backpacks, the water bottles are filled, and Mommy and Gaga (grandma in sillytalk) are ready to take the kids on a hike– but WAIT! one tire is low.
«Yes, we need to fill it with air before we go», says the experienced Gaga.
Big-​O Tires is closest, so off we go.
The guy comes right over and when we politely say we need air– looks at the low tire and says, «Uh-​oh, there is a screw right here!»
Can you fix it? Yes? How long will it take? 20 min. WOW!
Big-​O came through for us and saved the day! In effect they saw our plight, put our tiny job in front of other bigger jobs and they fixed it and we were on our way in 25 min.
A very happy family went to the woods and will be loyal customers from now on!

Went here this weekend because it was the only tire place open on Saturday in alameda. My boyfriend had literally just gotten two new tires from a place in the city 3 weeks prior but ran over a nail and the tire was completely flat. First, the salesman helping us accused my boyfriend of «drifting» in his car to cause the damage to the tire (you can clearly see the nail) and then he refused to sell him just two tires claiming «it’s illegal for me to not sell you four». I understand if it’s a store policy or something, but that doesn’t make it illegal. He went to check with his manager and came back and of course it was suddenly fine to only sell two tires at a time, but the only tires in stock were the most expensive. We had him look up other tires and found the ones he had just recently got (this cut the price almost 75%), but they wouldn’t be in til Monday.
Monday comes around, and my boyfriend gets a call around noon. They can no longer do only two tires, they have to do all four «because the owner is here today and I’ll lose my job». He relentlessly keeps trying to pressure my boyfriend into getting the four tires that my boyfriend clearly already said he didn’t want. So when he refuses, they say they’ll leave his car in the lot for him to pick up after work. And then a few hours later they leave a voicemail saying that they have to leave the car on the street instead because they are putting the gates up (the gates were not up).
Anyways, we put the spare tire on so he could take his car back to the first place he got his tires where they said they could replace just the damaged one because he just got it 3 weeks ago.
Thanks for wasting our time, Big O Tires. You are awful.

The customer service here sucks.
When I called at 730, I was told that no one would be able to help me until 8. I called back and was hung up on twice. Once I got someone on the phone, we booked an appointment and he quoted me $ 116 for the tire.
When I came in for the appointment, I was ignored. Several workers were chatting with each other about their weekend plans and finally someone else came in to assist. Dan ended up writing up my quote. He was not friendly and instantly did the upsale with extra protection on my tire. When I declined, he attitude worsened. He also tried to sell me on extra maintenance.
This place is busy and the workers don’t understand how to talk to people. Why spend your money here… Get your tires somewhere else.

How to lose a customer: Suddenly refuse to do the same conventional oil change service you’ve performed on the same car multiple times over the past few years. Then argue about it, insisting that has always been your policy. Bonus points for talking down to me like I don’t know what I’m doing with my own car.
I asked to speak to the manager, and guess what! He’s the very same guy who set up my first oil service there. Yes, that’s right. This time he refused the service, but offered me a discount to change to synthetic. I’m sorry, but I’m not about to change the way I’ve maintained my car for the past 10.5 years because of some silly company policy you’ve suddenly decided to enforce. For the record, although the manual for my car strongly recommends synthetic oil, it states that either synthetic OR petroleum-​based oil may be used. Yup.
And, even though they had one less car to work on today, it still took them two and a half hours to change the oil on my partner’s car. Heck, they may have just lost two customers… What a shame.

This place is not terrible. BUT, if you don’t know your sh*t, you may get ripped off!
I came to change my engine and air filters. My dealer quoted me around ~$ 90 and I was hoping to get a better deal here. I had some old paperwork from Big O Tires that quoted that it would cost around $ 85 total. When I initially met with a mechanic, he said the labor charge would be $ 120 plus the parts ($ 40). When I showed him the old paperwork, he said «Oh, guess someone gave you a good deal…»
He reduced the labor charge from $ 120 to $ 20. It was appalling to know I could’ve been that idiot, who would have paid a bill more. I probably would’ve gone to my dealer in the end, but WHAT IS THIS MADNESS. Can no longer trust this place.
