BESTDAMNEDPIZZAINALAMEDA, BARNONE. And an amazing selection of craft beers & ales, too. Throw in the warm, friendly staff, & what’s not to like? WELL, maybe one thing: The restaurant is really small, so it gets filled up quickly, and it is very warm inside. Of course, you can always wear short pants and a T-shirt as I did today. Or just take your pizza to go and pick up a nice six pack of Firestone IPA at the 7-Eleven on your way home. EITHERWAY, HIGHLYRECOMMENDED.

Very good pizza! Had the salad, cheese bread, and margarita pizza! Unfortunately they are closing soon, so try it before they close!

BESTPIZZAINALAMEDA. Unfortunately, they’re closing their doors soon, so you should try to get some of their delicious pizza while you still can. Seriously. It’s amazing.

They are going out of business and it’s probably for the best. Just got a pizza tonight and it’s lukewarm, lacks sauce and the texture us like cardboard. Advice: Don’t complain about a business taking over your space when you produce a subpar product.

I am so SAD… WHY?! Greedy landlord? This establishment is always busy & has the BEST pizza so I know they make money for the owner. I hope they’ll be able to find a new Alameda location SOON! — end of THIS month

Tried this after reading they were closed. Smaller inside then what it looks from the outside. The garlic bread was very good. The Magherita was tasty, the crust was a little too thin and crispy for my taste. The sausage and mushroom was okay. I specifically asked if they give a good amount of mushrooms and she said yes. There were not that many toppings. The sausage was a little disappointing. I wanted fresh pull italian sausage, not sliced sausage. Sad to hear they are being forced out for a few more tables for the 1400 bar.

Good folks serving the best pizza on the west end. And while I LIKE the upscale, more gourmet pizzeria on the east end(you know the one), sometimes I want to overly configure my pizza. Croll’s has never had any issue with me adding, subtracting, doubling, or taking the square root of any of its high-quality ingredients, even on its special combination pizzas(unlike the other place!). They will, however, warn me if I order the thin crust(not regular — I’d say the regular is more«medium,» so do note there are THREE crust choices, no, FOUR, because there’s also gluten-free!) and get something fairly«wet» like an all-veggie pizza. I’d subtract a star for no delivery, but really, the delivery pizza options in Alameda as a whole are dire, so that hardly seems fair. Plus my lazy bum lives about 7 blocks away. Maybe I should subtract a star from myself. Or walk there and have a beer while I wait, because their tap selection is full of local greats. Be aware that their dining room is small, though, and you can’t have a beer if you sit outside.

Excellent pizza, and they are NOT closed! They’ll be around through the end of October, so eat your fill. The Margherita pie is incredible, and their specials are veey creative.

This restaurant is NOTCLOSED!!! As of 9÷24÷15! Who would report the opposite and try to take business away from them? The place was packed tonight when I stopped by to pick up my Togo order. Great food and good staff!!!

Huge xl pizza’s. Nice customer service with smiles. Clean facility. We carried out, but the place wasn’t packed, yet not empty either.

They have the best gluten free pizza I’ve ever eaten. The crust is so good, that even if I weren’t gluten free, I’d still order it over the regular crust.

Really good pizza. OK salad. The cashier isn’t always the friendliest. And they DONOTDELIVER. A major disappointment since I just searched for a place that delivers…((sigh)) Oh well… Wouldn’t be a big deal if I didn’t have a grumpy kidlet not fit for dining out or picking up(believe it or not, it’s a schlep from the east end to the west end, especially with aforementioned kidlet). Looks like it’s a La Val’s kinda night.

Love this place, after all the years this place is always top 3 best pizza joints. I remember when my Godfather bought us pizza from here when I used to sleep at my cousin house and it was super thick crust. Anyhow just about anything on their menu is solid. We chose our organic favorite the Margherita. Drop in for a slice and their many selects on beer. Cheers!

I adoringly looked at my review from nearly 4 years ago. I have the same comments more or less but with a much better reflection. I got the Alameda Special tonight on a whim after I had to do some upkeep on my car across the street at O’Reillys. I decided to try it with gluten free crust as I have been experimenting with my diet lately and wanted to try pizza without the heavy grains. That with a side salad. I can tell you that the peppery fumes coming from the picked-from-the-fields-three-minutes-ago arugula stunned me when I checked the pie before leaving. Wow. Fresh as. So worth the price, end of story.

Unfortunately, due to numerous owners this place now sucks. The pizza is awful at the end of the day. We ordered from 12 blocks away and told it will be 30 minutes before pick up. The pizza’s now has a cracker crust with barely enough cheese to call it a «pizza.» Once we took the pizza home we noticed that the pizza, which was probably done in 10 minutes, must have set for 20 minutes warming. The cheese had changed its molecular state from melted to hot and hard. No deal here, wait for new owners or go across the street and order from mountain mike’s where the quality doesn’t change due to ownership.

5 stars all the way for food, service and beer. You can easily taste the freshness of pizza and ingredients. I have bee there multiple and this is a well deserved review. Only downside it that it is a small place and seating is limited, also pizza takes on average 40 minutes to make. But I am fine with it because pizza is so good. And similarly great are the breadsticks. They have one of my favorite beers on tap — pyramid hef so makes me happy. The girls who work there are very friendly and are running around during busy hours to help people as much as they can. Also they have by far the best ranch dressing I have ever tasted in my life. You can tell it is home made and fresh. I can keep on applauding this place but lemme just finish it by saying that I am very glad to find this place near my house. One of the top pizza places in alameda and arguably the best. If you love pizza, please do yourself a favor and eat there and you won’t be disappointed.

Apparently Alameda’s oldest pizzeria and family owned and run. I like they use local, organic, and seasonal ingredients when possible. Impressive beer selection on tap. Interesting pizza combinations(or you can make your own). Nice crust. Gold Coast — A white pie with artichokes and mushrooms. I liked the toasted sesame seeds on the crust, nice touch. White Christmas special — chicken, cranberries, bacon, onions, mushrooms. Liked the burst of cranberry sweet/tartness. You can half and half the pies if they have the same sauce. I want to try their others!

Late night looking for some pizza that delivered on this rainy day and I came across this place they don’t feligwe but worth the drive. We ordered a large half combo and half Hawaiian. All I can say it’s some of the best pizza I’ve had and will definitely come back for more. Soon!!!

Since moving to Alameda a few months ago, I have tried Croll’s pizza three times. Croll’s is a small, warm establishment with delicious, inventive pizzas and some interesting beer choices. Beyond that, you aren’t getting any frills(if that’s what you are looking for). They have a couple of weekly rotating choices for pizza that usually have specific ingredients that are in season, which I would recommend. Croll’s is(so far) my favorite pizza on the island. If you are ordering takeout, a pizza usually takes about 40 minutes.

Good pizza is so hard to come by in Alameda, and that’s a shame. I’m not going to do Little Caesar’s, and none of the other shops really grabbed me. However, Croll’s could be my new go-to joint. A medium pie big enough for two is about $ 22 — not too shabby. There are some huge toppings on each pizza, and everything is fresh enough. It’s a little understaffed and tiny, but the goods are what matter, right?
