You need to send reinforcements as we are currently stuck in a permanent hole in the couch from overeating. I cannot complain about their portions because they’re huge! And the prices were fair and mostly under $ 10. Fried Calamari $ 10 | Breading was falling off, lost its textural integrity(not crunchy), super bland and needed some salt. Also, we found a piece of cartilage when we sunk our teeth into it. #epicfail Danny’s Catfish $ 10 | That catfish life though. The five stars I gave could all go to this catfish. Super crunchy cornmeal coating, succulent fish on the inside… oh! Squirt some lemon on it. Comes with a side of cajun fries that have a seasoning of sugar, cayenne and salt. I’m guessing by its sweet, salty and spicy flavor. Lava Chicken $ 10 | Huge ass portion! A billion chicken thighs cut into chunks, grilled, spicy sauced. Not too spicy. Comes with rice and plain steamed broccoli. Wendy’s Lumpia $ 6 | Nothing exciting, not fresh tasting, kind of bland, thin with a tiny amount of filling. Pass.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for some time because I am a big fan of Boiling Crab. Of course I wasn’t going to compare. Anyway, I came here on a Monday around 2ish and it wasn’t crowded at all. Every time I walk by there aren’t that many people inside as well. I came in and was seated right away and the waitresses were ready to take my order. I ordered a pound of lemon pepper shrimp and a basket of calamari which came with fries. The food came out pretty fast! I enjoyed the shrimp, but I wasn’t as spicy as I wanted it. I ordered it medium spicy thinking it would be some spicy, but it wasn’t at all. So if you like extremely hot foods go with extra spicy! The calamari was DELICIOUS too! Probably the best I had in a while. It was the perfect amount of crispy and the fries were perfect with it. It’s a big portion too! So if you don’t feel like getting too messy go with that! I will definitely be coming back and most likely get garlic noodles and oysters. The oysters were only a dollar each! :)

I prefer this over Boiling Crab any day! No wait, less oil, and more options. I usually get the lb of shrimp, hang ten style, medium spicy and its been perfect. Shrimps are plump, nicely flavored. Garlic noodles are a must if you love garlic. It definitely hits the spot with the shrimps too. The BBQ chicken plate is filled with a lot of meat, a good amount of rice and mac salad. Service was great and attentive, they kept checking whether we were good and refilled our water promptly. I’d recommend this place for sure! Your best bet for parking is street parking, since their parking space is tiny and only fits like 5 cars.

Still Hangin’ Ten in Alameda! This is now a regular stop whenever we’re in town. We’ve learned to back off the fried stuff and go more for the bags of mussels or clams or whatever else they’ll boil. You get a choice of a couple of different broths/sauces. Still, it’s hard to pass up those fried oysters and Calamari! Decent beer choices too. So great!

Not an abundance of cajun/crab boil around the east bay that I know of, but it is definitely the stronger contender between Rockin Crawfish in Oakland and it. I’ve done my share of take out and have eaten in restaurant twice. Service is usually pretty nice, though they frequently ran out of things– especially crawfish AND they can get pretty busy. I also have trouble getting them to answer the phone to get a takeout order placed. However– food quality rules all. The clams are NEVER undercooked and the garlic noodles are and fried Catfish are ONPOINT. I’ve had the spam musubi, crawfish, cajun fries, fried oysters, gumbo and even the lumpia and they’ve all been pretty solid. My favorite sauce is just the house«Hang Ten»(nice and garlicky) sauce on medium. Be warned though– you’ll be burping up garlic for HOURS. I’ve tried the«Steph Curry» sauce once and the menu description for this can be quite misleading. It really means curry though the description says«signature sauce». TLDR; food is good, service is average, and atmosphere is pretty hip. Make sure to call ahead to check if they have the thing you’re craving so you don’t arrive disappointed. Also, if you’re doing take out make sure to ask them for a wax cover!

I’ve been here numerous times, every single time the servers were fantastic and the food was consistently delicious! You can choose the type of seafood you want, the sauce, and then the level of spiciness– they mix it all up for you in a bag for a very hands on experience. There are also other dishes to get such as catfish, fries, etc. I love their perfectly crispy calamari so I always make sure to order that the first thing I sit down. In my opinion, I like this place better than the more well known Boiling Crab just because of the more intimate«small shop» atmosphere. Their sauce(which you can order to take home) is also slightly more mouth watering. TIP: f you’re not sure how spicy to make your seafood get it less spicy. The servers are always happy to make your dish spicier if you expected more.

First time here at Hang Ten and I can honestly say, I’m so very convinced they have the best sauce in shrimp EVER! Its on a main street of Alameda and they have a small parking lot next to the building. It looks like a small family run business with lots and lots of Warrior décor. If you’re a DUBNATION fan, then you’ll love it in here. All the staff wear warrior fan gear(and so was I on that day) and they are all very friendly. IMO, its on par with boiling crab, but what gives Hang Ten the extra point is the quantity in sauce you get in a bag. The sauce is not oily as BC or Concord’s Rockin’ crawfish and can definitely hang with the best of them. We also tried the«Steph» Curry special sauce which was delicious. Its a yellow curry base and goes so well with the shrimp. We also ordered manila clams on their regular lemon pepper garlic sauce and it was simply put, tasty! I am definitely a fan of their shrimp, sauce and garlic noodles! Its for sure, as good as it gets.

The best place to satisfy your seafood cravings on the island! I like that they also have options besides seafood, to cater to those who want something else. The garlic noodles are a must, so delicious! I usually order the sauce that has everything mixed it in, the equivalent of the«whole shabang» at BC. I appreciate that they have gloves if you request for them. Being the germaphobe that I am, they come in handy and are easier to clean up after eating.

This review is based on our dining experience on 11÷7÷5 afternoon time. My frens ordered garlic noodle, beef sparerib, fried oysters, and shrimp, the only item my fren say ws ok is the beef n noodle. The garlic noodle ws brought out quick, everything else came out 15 mins later. I had the gumbo, it was served in a small plastic container. the gumbo was completely terrible, it had too much mushy rice, no okra, n no good meat. my lovely son got the bbq chicken, it was very burnt, the taste of it was terrible. the most terrible item was the fried oysters, a lot of ocean taste n falls apart, pretty much look n tasted like crap. anyways to sum it up, the«chef» did a shity job on most of our orders, 4 out of 6 items r terrible to the point we cud not eat! Service was bad as well. they sat us down n left us sitting there for 10 plus mins with no water. we asked for water ourselves. our waitress(bigger size asian grl, not the owner) tried to get smart with me wen I asked if they have hot sake. she say this is not a japanese place, she try to add on wat kind of restro it was but sound like she cudnt explain wat type of restro it was herself. they got diff food such as hawaiian: spam masubi, bbq meats wit a scoop of macaroni, plus they got cajun food: crawfish, shrimp, clam n crab. Some cajun restro do serve hot sake. this restro 1st started out havin hawaiian food very similar to L&L hawaiian, back then wen L&L started bout 10 yrs in the bay area, ppl seem to like cuz u c ppl franchise it almost every city. due to its popularity back 10 yrs ago, the owner did the same exact concept here. Years later this hawaiian food became not popular anymo, the business slow down badly, they started to incorporate cajun food. their biz soon picked up, they now open another location in hayward. They also added alcohol such as beer n wine. very wise choice! we had party of only 5. wen they gave us the check, they already included 18% gratutity. since it included tips we paid the exact full amount. tat idiot waitress came to me wit her ipad register n ask me for more tip. i had to add 15% as there’s no option for no tip?

Honestly, I was debating between three or four stars. Ultimately, decided on the four stars because their sauce was good and their garlic noodles was bomb! Why three stars– Let me just say that I’m allergic to shrimp, so the first time I was here, all I ordered was gumbo, which was disappointing. From what I can recall, it was basically stew over(hard) rice. And it tasted like how it appeared — stew over rice. It was definitely a sad attempt at my favorite dish. Because really, that«gumbo» was missing all of its«soul.» Why four stars– The next time I came here, my friends convinced me to try their clams. Good thing I agreed to it because those clams were good! The sauce was perfect– spicy with a good after-taste kick. I forgot the specific sauce that was got, but it was definitely one of the spicier one, if not the spiciest. I like how they give you generous portions of the sauce. Basically, you can dip your food in pan! So good! I also had their garlic noodles. One word: delicious! It’s the perfect mix of garlic in your noodles without it being just garlic in your noodles. The noodles are also perfectly cooked. A definite must try. In fact, the next time I go here, I’ll probably just order garlic noodles. Why not five stars– Obviously, for the previous reasons why I would give this place three stars. But also because I didn’t like their shrimp. Yes, I’m allergic to shrimp so I don’t particularly like shrimp to begin with. But, I’ve still had my fair share of shrimp so I know what good shrimp is supposed to taste like. And, unfortunately, their shrimp was not good, in my opinion. The shrimp was just bland. I had to dip it in my pan multiple times for some sort of flavor. But then again, my friends enjoyed the shrimp so maybe it was just me– the one with the shellfish allergies– who didn’t find the shrimp all that great? Just maybe shrimp in these kind of restaurants is supposed to taste that bland? Take my shrimp comments then with a dip of sauce(to add flavor to it). Final note: If you’re going here for a particular dish, make sure to call in advance to ask if they have the dish before heading out. We actually went here for crawfish, but apparently they weren’t serving crawfish that night.

I’m definitely grateful to have Hang Ten Boiler near me for my spontaneous spicy seafood cravings. However, if I can I would still make a trip to Rocking Crawfish in Oakland or something because Hang Ten just… lacks something. This might also mean that maybe they’re healthier because they put less artificial flavors(ahem, msg) than other places? I don’t know, I’m completely making an assumption but it’s just missing that unexplainable kick of flavors. Their sauce also felt a bit too greasy with a lot of oil for some reason. Their customer service was quite decent too, so that’s always a plus. I will be back for a chill seafood night!

Not your typical Cajun Boil. After having visited their main Southland Mall spot, I developed a craving for more Hang Ten that needed to be satisfied. Cajun boils are good, but Hang Ten injects a little bit of an Asian twist into the mix. Try the Steph Curry seasoning, it is simply finger-licking delicious. You know what goes well with delicious spicy curry seafood-y sauce? Garlic noodles, fried Paratha bread, and rice-stuffed crab shells. One small criticism is that their menu has some strange restrictions for combos and some dishes are only available on certain days of the week. Seems unnecessarily confusing to me, so just make sure to check ahead. Great for a delicious, fun meal with a group of friends.

Not bad, great food and service. Parking cramped and space is small. In all worth the wait and decently priced. I live close by the Hayward spot, but had to try the original. Pretty brave of me to try something popular on a Friday but called ahead to see how long the wait was. The waitress was nice enough to save a table despite not taking reservations as we were just around the corner. Seating is cramped but I understand being close to park st. and all the nightlife you have to go with the available space. Nice vibe inside and close to everything important on Park. The food and service is prompt and your always being checked on by the staff. The food is unbelievable and the servings generous. The special sauce used is flavorful, I’ve been to many crab spots and most are either to spicy or watered down. They also have specialty plates to choose from like my favorite moco loco, and a meaty BBQ plate. My family and I were pleasantly surprised with the consistency between the two locations and will definitely come through either spots. Also try the new ice cream macaroons, plenty of flavors to choose from and great sized portion. Comparable to milk in LA, for my true Unilocalers who travel far and wide.

Parking is terribly hard to find in this area! I was not impressed at all. Everything was drenched in oil… taste wise, it does not stand out. I’ve had better at Craw Station. The two stars are for the garlic noodles. It was good, but a little pricey I would only come here if my friends wanted to come.

Have you seen my review for Hang Ten in Hayward? This is going to be very similar: If I was in Alameda and you asked me what I wanted to eat, I’d say Paul’s. I started going to Paul’s when it was called Hawaiian Drive-In back when I was still in high school and just started driving. Wow, I feel pretty old right about now. But anyways, Paul loves the idea of box lunch, very island-y, funny how he chose to open his first place on an island. Eventually they re-opened and added all the eating with your hands mumbo jumbo. It might be your thing, but I love a good boxed lunch and Hawaiian sun. This is my favorite place for. Non-greasy, crispy katsu and tangy sauce to compliment the meat. Musubi because it’s cooked PERFECTLY. Teriyaki steak which is Very reminiscent of my grandma’s sukiyaki. It’s sweet and sliced really thinly. Sometimes it’s been a bit more gristle that I’d like but it happens. And Oh that Mahi Mahi– If you like garlic, I suggest this. Buttery garlicy fish on top of rice? I’m usually that person who hates when her food touches, but mixing it all up is just as good. But if you’re not too hungry I’m sure you can try to order just the one mahi.(If you get this reference, I like you a lot.) Last but not least… The BESTMACSALADYOUWILLEVEREAT resides here. With the exception of the Boonipepper’s Guam cuisine in Newark, Hang Ten is pretty much the best mac salad you will find in the Bay. I honestly love this place, they are the sweetest people that make for the best atmosphere and they make the best food. One of the things that makes me come to the Alameda location, besides convenience is that Kamaka is one of the best cooks, I laaaaaaaavaaaa his food!

Hang Ten is similar in style/feel to Boiling Crab or Rockin Crawfish. The décor is cute — modern island feel. The food was delicious for the most part. I split a Hang 10 combo and it was more than enough food. I’d skip the spam musubi… not worth the price. The garlic fries and noodles were great, as they usually are at restaurants like this! My friend ordered the short ribs but they came back very chewy and unappetizing… It was an awkward situation, but the staff was really accommodating and switched her order. They didn’t charge her for either order, which was very nice of them. Overall, I would come back again! Love shrimp/seafood, so places like this are right up my alley. Personally enjoyed Rockin Crawfish in Oakland, but there were others at my table who disagreed! Definitely on the same level taste/flavor-wise. :)

3.5 stars for food + bonus for good service I’ve been wanting to try Hang Ten for awhile but the bf was always iffy since he’s went before and wasn’t impressed. I wanted seafood so he agreed to give it another chance. We didn’t want to over order so we decided to go start with garlic noodles($ 9.99 full order) and Wendy’s lumpia($ 5.99). The lumpia was good, but tasted like ones you buy from an Asian market. The garlic noodles were disappointing. Though you could see chopped garlic in the noodles, the dish was bland. When it comes to the seafood, you pick your flavor(garlic butter, lemon pepper, signature Steph curry, or cajun) and how spicy(mild, medium, spicy, and extra spicy) you want it. We ordered a crab in a medium cajun flavoring. The crab was okay size and cooked perfectly. The medium spiciness got more and more spicy the more you ate. For those who love to eat the crab head, they put a scoop of rice in it to soak up all the flavorings. Don’t forget to add a few pieces of corn and sausage. Service was great. The waitresses periodically checked up on us and made sure our water glasses were always filled. WHATTOKNOW: *Seated immediately at 6:30pm on a Sunday, but the crowd seemed to start to stream in after us *The menu includes appetizers and sides, seafood, and meat plates *They have a second location in Hayward at Southland Mall *Take-out or catering is available *Metered street parking which we easily found

First time at this location was 4÷5÷15. I walked in and instantly noticed that its much different from their Southland Mall location. This restaurant is much smaller then the other location and parking is more challenging here but don’t let that stop you, this place is a MUSTTRY! Came here with some lady friends for the evening and started with the fried oysters and their well known garlic noodles! Yummy! Garlic noodles was on point, I am not much of a fan of oysters but they were good! Next…came the yummy pound of shrimp with mild Cajun flavor which was DELICIOUS and the point of kind crab legs with Garlic Butter(very salty, too salty) but was very flavorful and didn’t stop me from getting it crackin! The customer service was okay here they lovely ladies made sure they constantly checked on us to make sure we were satisfied. Nice location, right off park and next to the Jack in the Box. They also have a small parking lot next to the restaurant but it feels up pretty quickly as its a shared lot. This place is easy to miss and is a true hidden gem but its a must try when in the Alameda area! Who would have ever thought that cajun/Seafood can be THIS good! Hang Ten Boilers is truly one of my FAVORITE restaurants when I am feen’in for some garlic noodles! I will definitely be back to, «GETITCRACKIN»

So they serve this Steph Curry sauce which I naturally assumed would have had some kind of curry kick to it (cause of his last name being Curry and stuff) but was mistaken. Nonetheless, the sauce still is pretty bad ass(like Steph Curry) and is understandably why its Hang Ten Boiler’s go to sauce. And it’s pretty good by itself(like Steph Curry) but when you add some heat, boom goes the dynamite and that sauce goes nuclear(like the 2015 Dubs). In retrospect, it was so I good we should’ve ordered a pound or two of shrimp to go along with it. Instead we opted for more of a sampling and had the garlic shrimp, calamari, and mix BBQ plate. Garlic shrimp was swimming in this garlic butter sea of goodness and paired really well with the Steph Curry sauce, the calamari was a little over breaded and so you got pieces that were doughy, and the mix BBQ was fairly standard Hawaiian fare. Overall, the sampling was okay. So I’m gonna have to head back to Hang Ten Boiler, get more spicy Steph Curry sauce, and order garlic noodles, lumpia and some of Da Seafood.
