«Meh.» (I’m excited to see what opens in the spot that used to be Planet Crepes!)

there’s a big banner hanging from the roof saying, «under new ownership. 99cents special» there was a sign on the door that lists the days in july they would be closed. now only one sign is there: «SORRYCLOSED»

The menu looked good at first but they ran out of Nutella and half of the menu was unavailable because of that one missing ingrediant. Instead of ordering the Milky Way with the unabailable Nutella, I chose to order the Carmel Apple with a scoop of vanella ice cream, carmel sauce, whip cream all on a fresh crêpe. When I got the crêpe, I noticed that the crêpe was not fresh and was sitting on a rack with other crepes. The Crêpe was rubbery and it was just like the one I had at Crepes a Go Go in Berkely. Even that place just keeps Crepes on the side and only makes fresh Crepes when the Crêpe Chef is there. What’s funny is that the chefs at Planet Crepes made fresh Crêpe Meals for their friends and brought out the fressh batter in a metal container from the back rooms. When their friends were handed their meals, it smelled fresh to me and my husband. Why could they do the same for us? Both me and my husband will never go there again because the first impression was not a very good one! missy2g

Fro-yo girl here. I arrived at Planet Crepes with the intention of having a cup of tart fro-yo, but they didn’t have original tart and the raspberry(tart?) was icy and runny, without the creamy, real yogurt quality that I look for. A small fro-yo is $ 2. They have one Taylor machine so they can offer two flavors a day. I didn’t see a fro-yo crêpe option. Planet Crepes doesn’t lack for choices as the menu includes sweet crepes, savory crepes, build your own crepes, crêpe chips w/Nutella dip(looked interesting), 8 kinds of Gianni ice cream, salads, baked potatoes, breakfast items, and smoothies. And soon they’re adding coffee and sandwiches. The place looks cluttered(just like their signs and menus). On the positive side, they have some interesting non-traditional crepes like pizza, hamburger and pulled pork, and the prices are reasonable(they seem to be targeting youth/students). You can add mochi balls to your crepes. I assume the toppings for sweet crepes and fro-yo are the same: nuts, cereal, sprinkles, mochi balls, and fruit. I had the Florentine($ 5) crêpe, with spinach, cheddar, feta and red onions. The ingredients went well together. The crêpe served on a plastic plate. It seemed small but I think that’s because there wasn’t much filling. The crêpe itself was thin, slightly sweet and crispier/harder than usual. For an extra $ 2 you can add your choice of a side salad and beverage(they serve Shasta sodas). My side salad was unremarkable — mixed greens, a slice of tomato, and some shredded cabbage. If you collect receipts, you can eventually get something free I think — but what a hassle to save the actual receipts! You know you love me. X0X0, fro-yo girl.

We hadn’t stopped in to Planet Crepes in the past because of the parking and the fact that it’s usually overrun with kids. We had a chance to stop in this afternoon however I’m really glad we did. The staff was very friendly and we immediately noticed the menu was greatly expanded than the one listed on their web site. They apparently have several meal deals and specials usually going on, but it looks like their prices are always very reasonable. We had 2 savory crepes, drinks, salad, hash browns and a complimentary dessert crêpe all for less than $ 16. The crepes were fresh and flavorfull and with the great attitude of the staff we felt relaxed and at home. They have games in the restaurant(similar to the Hob Nob down the street) so we even snuck in a few games of Connect Four while we were at it. The portions aren’t gut busting and the menu ins’t as diverse as a place like Crepevine for example, but we were perfectly satisfied and happy with our meal. This was one of the pleasant afternoons and good food experiences that remind me how happy I am to live in Alameda.

After having lunch at Dragon Rouge next door, I couldn’t help the fact that I sat next to the window and kept starting at the«buy one crêpe, get one free» sign that was out on the sidewalk for Planet Crepes. I hate how I always get suckered in by any type of deal! I walk in just to get disappointed that it was for basically a whole meal(savory + drink + side dish) and the free crêpe would be a dessert crêpe or so. I was in no mood to stuff my face even more after my hefty lunch next door. What brought my mood back up was that they do serve ice cream and fro-yo too. Saved by the fro-yo! Only two flavors for that day… –Original(Tart): it was more on the sweet side with a hint of lemon juice for tartness. *Skip* — Raspberry: Non-tart. Creamy, sweet, and ice creamy like. My fav of the two. — Topping: Fresh strawberries. Large ¼th slices of whole strawberries. — Strawberry cheesecake ice cream: Nice, creamy, rich, with strawberry swirls and graham cracker bits. No the best fro-yo, but not too bad. It was definitely a nice/refreshing treat after a salty/thirsty aftereffect meal next door. P. S. They serve crepes with the option of adding fro-yo to it. I love crepes with ice cream, but with fro-yo?! I must try!!!

This was place was a wonderful discovery to say the least! Not only is it in a good location with a wonderful ambiance, but the menu is really creative! They offer some delightful seasonal crepes that are to die for, both savory AND sweet! The price is extremely resonable and given the attentive and friendly staff, we opted to stay a little longer to enjoy a second cup of coffee with a sweet crêpe to follow after our savory crêpe(we were piggies but couldn’t resist!). We didn’t try the tart yogurt but thats definitely next on our list! I really appreciate the willingness with which they accomodate your requests, be it an extra crispy crêpe or no ice in your water, alls you have to do is ask, and thats if they don’t already beat you to the punch! Its an added bonus that this place is family owned, these people truly care for their customers satisfaction and the quality of product that they serve. We’ll definitely be heading back very soon!

Hmmm Crepes =) This place definitely serves some awesome crepes. They’re big, they’re packed, and they’re filling. My favorite crepes from here are the Chipotle Chicken and the Turkey Pesto. The reason i’m giving this place a strong 4 stars is because the customer service is great. For a place with high schoolers working behind the counter(or what appear to be young girls) they’re all terribly kind and helpful. I’m only knocking it 1 star because the prices have raised quite a bit since it opened only a few months ago(which is understandable, economy, gotcha…) and because the wait time to get your crêpe takes a little under 10 minutes when the place is practically empty. All and all, great place… go support it.

Great experience tonight. Went with some friends for the first time, staff were great and helpful and friendly. Even opened up the back room for us and told us to go on in since we had a larger party. Turned on the Olympics for us and we finished watching Phelps win gold medal number 8 and then walked out, only to realize we stayed 20 minutes past closing time! Yikes. Very gracious of them. As for the frozen yogurt, not too tart and not too sweet; big chunks of fruit. I was impressed. Some of the peoples got crepes with nutella, some with ice cream. Very good. If you get the apple pie ice cream, get a waffle cone and break it up inside; it’ll make it taste better. Cool place.

I just went here for the second time and I’m feeling bad for giving this place 4 stars earlier when they clearly deserve 5STARS! I guess part of my reasoning for only giving 4 stars earlier was because I didn’t think it was right to give a place full marks when I’ve only been there once. But after my most recent visit, I’m sure this place deserves 5 stars. Why FIVE stars? 1. Great, friendly service. 2. Workers that clearly care about their work and«want» to be there. 3. Good portions. Why the stars(previously)? — There was a back room for large groups that is reservable for events. It accomodates probably 30 ppl and our group was able to use it. — The manager was great! let us stay 30 minutes after closing while they were cleaning. — Food was great! While crepes will never be cheap, this was a great deal. They give large quantities and the food was delicious. New Recommendation: — Get the tart yogurt with mangoes! You can’t go wrong with this! Previous Recommendations: — The chipotle chicken«Savory» crêpe. — The planet crêpe«Sweet» crêpe — The spimoni ice cream flavor shake

Drove pass this place a couple times and was already next door at Tapioca Express with my friends so we decided to just give this place a try. It was dead in here. I mean we were the only customers which was kinda weird. It shoulda been a sign telling us this place is weak because it is empty for a reason. I was served by two friendly girls but even they could not have stopped me from coming here on Unilocal to bash this place’s food. I got the turkey pesto crêpe… I was expecting some delicious juicy turkey like it was thanksgiving but who was I kidding, I got some salty ass turkey deli meat instead. Besides the meat being deli meat, the crêpe had nothing, just some pesto sauce glazed on top. It probably filled 1⁄10 of my stomach and I know i’m fat and can eat a lot but this place seriously was not even a snack. It was as satisfying as eating 5 pieces of cheetoes. People, this place is always dead for a reason.

It’s not bad. I like the location, coupons for BOGO free and the food. I’ve had a pesto turkey crêpe and chili dog crêpe. Both were tasty. My wife enjoys it. They get the extra star because I usually order some Kobe-Ya next door and eat it in here. They don’t care.

Came here on a Friday night with my girlfriend and had a delightful experience! The girls at the counter were all very nice and courteous. We ordered the«Milky Way» crêpe creation that consisted of caramel, ice cream, whip cream, and nutella. Simply delicious! All in all, no complaints. This is a great, little spot in Alameda to take someone to enjoy some yummy crepes.

Good eats, and the special movie-ticket offer makes the meals really wallet-friendly. Bring a movie ticket from Alameda theatre and Planet Crepes will give you one free with the purchase of a crêpe. Beyond that, the food is really good. The make the crepes on the spot(and the place was staffed by teens, who make some good food!). I had a chicken pesto in a wheat crêpe(at the young lady’s recommendation), and it was very tasty. This is a very nice stop while walking the shops of Alameda. If you don’t feel like a Snapple or water, there is also a bubble drink a few doors down(I got the Snapple, but the wife likes the tapioca things).

The owners are SUPER nice, which really makes me hope they work out a few of their kinks… the savory crepes were a bit crispy, and folded akwardly, and in need of some kind of sauce. but totally reasonable prices, great service, which is worth a buncha stars in my book

VEry nice. I just came back from planet crepes. I got the mini green tea yogurt and my husband got the astrodog with chili and cheese. He loved it. I loved the green tea yogurt and I like the tart taste but at 1st it was a bit odd but I like odd tastes. I’m not afraid to taste new foods, desserts. Yesterday I got the turkey pesto and it had cheese avocado and I think tomatoes. It was ok but I loved the one my lil’ sister ordered. She got the Chicken chipotle. That one was awesome. This place is great for lunch, to hang out with friends or enjoy sum sweet treats. PPL who are afraid to try new things tend to miss out alot.

AMBIANCE: Casual, airy and very clean. This is a place to go for a quick bite to eat, in and out. Definitely wouldn’t suggest to lounge forever here. The staff is really friendly and didn’t frown or make faces when I was so fickle in trying to decide what to order. They’re nice and from their appearance take care of themselves and their store. I didn’t check to see if there was a rest room or not. Definitely will the next time I come back. NOISELEVEL: When coming here for lunch it wasn’t noisy at all. You can hear everything clearly. Then a group of moms came in with kids screaming for ice cream and then it was all over folks. FOOD: My sister and I had the savory crêpe. Bacon, eggs, feta for me and cheddar for her. The filling was delicious and perfectly done with the eggs being fluffy. The crêpe was crisp at first when we got it but then after a few minutes it was soft. The crêpe didn’t get soggy or soaked through, it just wasn’t crispy enough for my liking. I figured that over time these guys will get it right. They just open so give them some breathing room for improvement. We then couldn’t resist and got the tart yogurt. After hearing from my sister about Pinkberry and seeing these yogurt places popping up all over Berkeley, I just had to try it for myself. I got the tart yogurt with strawberries and cinnamon apple. The yogurt was so refreshing and with just a hint of tart. The cinnamon apple was a complete and utter surprise though. I don’t know how they do it but the cinnamon was subtle and the apple was sweet and crunchy at the time. It was utterly delicious. I have to admit I’m hooked now because of these guys. I’d highly suggest it for those who would like to try to the tart yogurt.=) **Planet Crepes need a little tweak here and there on their crepes to make it awesome in my book. The fact that they need to somehow figure out how to make it slightly crispier. The yogurt kicked ass with great fillings. Definitely would be a wonderful place for summer time drop ins!** Ambiance Rating: 4 Stars; Clean organized. Great for family. Noise Level: 2 ½: Had to repeat order three times. Food Rating: 2 ½ for the crepes, and 4 for the yogurt.

I’m so excited there is a crêpe place in Alameda! I’ve been to Planet Crepes a couple of times since they opened and I really like it a lot! The theme and décor is cool. I tried the Mars Berry Cream and added granola… SO good… they didn’t skimp on the strawberries or granola and it was loaded with Nutella… mmm chocolate! I also like the Pizza crêpe and the cute girl making the crepes said I could add toppings to it, so I tried it with chicken and pineapple too! It came to about $ 6 which is good compared to a lot of other crêpe shops I’ve been to around the Bay Area. It got me full and if I can walk down the street and get quality, why go anywhere else?! especially with gas prices these days! The staff there is super nice too! I’ll def be coming back! Planet Crepes Rocks! =P
