I really wanted a donut + hesitated even going in when I saw the selection. They have two trays that held a variety of donuts. It looked like after a family gathering + there are little bites of everything left so you consolidate it into one plate or in this case two trays. Lady is very friendly + the donuts that were on the two trays looked nice! So I was hopeful. I got a glazed, the oil was either old, not hot enough, because it left a taste of oil old oil in my mouth, gross! Very disappointing because there isn’t a good old school donut shop in alameda.

I love donuts. Just not theirs! Even if we wake up super early to grab some«fresh» donuts, they still manage to taste old and poorly baked. I hate being wasteful but honestly, it’s hard to finish a single donut from this place. Ok, maybe a few donut holes but still… do yourself a favor and trot on down Webster street to Lee’s Donuts! Wayyyy better!

Cash only? Really? It’s 2014. That request better come with fluency in English and iced coffee… nope.

I’m sorry this place is not delicous!!! I hate giving small local shops bad reviews, but I’ve been here twice & felt cheated both times. Now I’ve been eating doughnuts since I was a small child & I feel as if I’m an expert on them. These doughnuts taste a little stell to me, not saying that they are stell but they do taste that way. I think it’s because whatever batter they use to make the doughnuts is flakier & thicker than I’m accustom to. Also I don’t like the way they glazed their doughnuts either, they dont glaze the bottoms of their doughnuts??? Really I dont like tge presenation or the fact that they only accept cash. They pile all types of doughnuts on one sheet & it looks like they are selling day old doughnuts, if thats so label them & drop the price.

Woke up drowsy, disorientated, and wowsy early morn in alameda. came out of mariner square looking for a bite and caffeine. passed starbux, taco bell, make a U when i saw the open sign at Star Donuts. small shop. little better than a bread box. racks full of juicy, plump donuts. overhead pricing display not updated. blank. eats: glazed donut(.75) –fluffy, nice, sweet sugar glaze. very big donut. great deal! pour: peerless coffee(sm 1.25) –smooth, kind of bland, non harsh. drips: –next to bus stop –star closes early, seldom open in the afternoon. –prompt, patient, cheerful service. –lots of parking 6 a.m.

Another great donut spot here in Alameda… This place opens up very early and is located right next to a major bus stop on Webster, so it’s good if you’re trying to get a quick snack before heading into the city. The chocolate bars with crème are my favorite here, and the staff is friendly. They’ve been around for a very long time, ever since i was a kid. A quality donut shop for Alamedians!
