The best! Never messed up a pair of pants ever! Very kind, allow dogs inside and give them treats! Smiling faces! Very kind family oriented people who are extremely talented and get clothes back to you very fast!

Fabulous with my daughter’s Prom dress. Everything was done well and in the short time that they were given.

I liked this place!!! The staff was so friendly and helpful. They did a great job on my pants and prom dress with reasonable prices and fast services.

They do expert alterations; however, they have been late getting my stuff back to me so many times that I am not going to go there anymore. They get the hems done in a snap because the lady farms them out to her other employees. I have never been unhappy with the quality of their work. But when I bring in something more complicated such as a dress to be taken in, that the lady has to do herself, it is never done when promised. This problem has been getting worse over the years. She is nice and I like her, but she has been as much as six weeks late getting a skirt back to me. She complains of being tired and having too much to do, so I guess she needs me to take my stuff someplace where they have more time. That is what I intend to do, and if you have a deadline, this is what you should do too.

This place is awesome! Even though they are a little expensive, they do a FANTASTIC job. a++++++!!!

I used this company for 5+ years for my daughter and my alterations and had great service. I loved the woman who owned and worked the shop. In 2010 however, things changed. Over a several month period I brought in a high volume of quality clothing like jeans, tops, dresses, suits for alterations. Nearly everything came back done incorrectly, or not done at all, or hemmed too short. I mean EVERYTHING. I came back with items for 2 – 4 mos and each time was told they were busy, come back in 2 – 3 weeks. For the next 3 – 4 months they would give me a completion date, I would come by, and they had 1 of 10 – 15 items done, and when i tried it on it was not done correctly. They would be apologetic and ask me to come back again. This cycle went on a very long time. I was understanding and patient, I could see they (Alicia and her husband) were very stressed. Last time I went in, they said I had to come back in a few weeks, they were in the middle of a bid remodel. I went in this past week end and twas shocked at how I was treated. They were rude and acted like I was bothering them. They then refused to do the work they had done wrong and told me I could take them to court. I am out approx. $ 1000 worth of alterations, paid in advance 6 – 12 months ago. This only dragged out over the past year because of their issues with their workload and staff. During the last 6 – 9 months they kept telling me they could not get to my things while they worked on new business which generate new revenue .
I intend to pursue this with the BBB, state licensing board (which I checked today and there are no licenses for Alamo Alterations or «Number 1 Alterations». (their new name) The woman who pins told me today she is not the owner (in the past 5 years she told me she and her husband owned the business), and told me the woman on the business cards «Alicia Soben» was the new manager. when I returned to the shop today with some of my findings she said she was Alicia Soben. all if this is surreal. The woman to owns/​manages the shop and has been there the past 5 years appears to think she can do business this way, take payment in advance and not perform. Very unfortunate situation. Like the other reviewers I thought this was a nice couple, good business but this is no longer the case. Be cautious about bringing your alterations there.

I don’t live in the area anymore, but I still come back here for serious projects. And by serious projects, I mean all the bridesmaid dresses I’ve worn have been altered here.
The first was a dress that was altered by another place and wasn’t done well, so it had to be redone.
The second was a dress that didn’t come in my size and looked like a sack on me. Because of the seaming that wrapped around the dress to fit the curves, they told me they couldn’t make it line up like it was originally on the dress. I said ok because I had to wear it for the wedding and it had to fit. When I came back to pick it up, they had basically took it apart and reconstructed the dress with all the amazing seaming so it fit like a glove. They may as well have just custom made the dress for me.
The third was just a standard alteration that need to be done, but needed adjustments in the bust area.
I’ve only had good experiences there — they always remember me and my dresses. And it usually only takes a week. It’s not particularly cheap, which is why I save the trip from San Jose for alterations when I really need something done right, not just a simple hem.

I use to love this alterations shop. I don’t know what has happened here. I had a simple item to be repaired and was even picking it up over a week later. Not done. No good reason as well. Another item I need repairing and they wanted me to go buy the repair parts at a fabirc shop and bring it to them then they would fix it. Doesn’t seem right to me… why don’t they have what it takes to fix and item? That is the business they are in. Sadly this is my last time going to them and am seeking a new alterations shop.

Can you give no stars? psh. I wish. I really don’t like to give bad reviews and won’t unless I am absolutely horrified, and I am. First of all, I had a few skirts to get taken in and some minor things to be fixed on a couple other items. $ 165. Are you kidding? I could/​should get it done at Nordstrom for less than $ 50. When I gave her my things she said 2 weeks. 2 weeks!!! Yes, she claims she is very busy… so I said fine. I come back on the day that was promised on my claim receipt and she said nothing was ready– come back at 5pm. I don’t live in Alamo, so I wasn’t too thrilled to come back especially after waiting two weeks and her promising me my items by this date. These things were so simple and standard, I don’t understand. So I come back at 5. STILLL they are not done. She asks, can you come back at 7? What about tomorrow? You can’t be serious lady. I said to her, «This honestly isn’t fair. You promised them by this date, and I’ve already come back twice now…» She responds with, «Yes, well everyone is in the same boat. Everyone is the same as you. We are BUSY!» What the heck does that mean? So she never has the orders done on time?! After two weeks!!! This must be why you prepay for your alterations, because obviously she won’t give me my money back since she thinks I’m the rude one for thinking this is ridiculous. I could have had these alterations back a week ago at a quarter of the price. I am so upset and disappointed. Now I have to drive back to Alamo tomorrow… I went here based on a recommendation from a family that lives in Alamo and uses them regularly. I will make sure they never go back here either.

I cannot believe that my original review did NOT get posted! Or was it removed?
They have a PIT BULL DOG that they let roam free! It barked and lunged at me! I told Alicia that I love her, and her work, but unless that dog is controlled, I am way, way too scared to ever go back.
And I have NOT gone back.

Best alterations shop around! Alicia and her staff and professional, personable and most importantly, incredibly talented seamstresses. I’ve been using them for 10 years — jeans, dresses, skirts, coats, even my husband’s sportcoats, and have never had anything but superb results.

Even though I don’t live in Alamo anymore I still stop by once in awhile to get a pair of jeans hemmed to fit my short legs or some other miscellaneous alterations.
The lady who takes care of the pinning and fitting is super sweet. Today, she even fixed a seam for me on the spot, no charge.
Prices could be lower, but I know that everything will be done right so that makes it a little better.

They are very friendly and do great alteration on all my jeans. They are reasonably priced, too. I would let them alter all my clothes.

For those of us short individuals who need to have all of their pants and jeans altered, Alamo Alterations is just the needed service. The owner and staff are some of the nicest people you will ever meet! They do a great job and are efficient! Fabulous!
