We stopped in on our way home from Sacramento this past Saturday. This is an old fashioned ice cream shop. They have many of the flavors I remember from my childhood, plus some new ones. J had his usual, Mint Chip and Cookies and Cream. After trying their Double Dutch and Caramel Cashew, I settled on a scoop of Green Tea. The ice cream was solid, but what really stood out was the service. The girl that helped us could not have been nicer or more polite. Unfortunately I did not get her name, but I have to say, great job!

Love our local ice cream shop! They’re well stocked with cartons that are way better than anything you’ll find in a grocery store. Also if you’re a mocha almond fudge fan, this is the only place to get it!

I love ice cream but not a huge fan of Loard’s. Maybe I expect too much because of the premium price? The service is great, the parlor is clean but the ice cream is just ok.

My mom ate maple walnut Ice cream from Loards all the time when she was pregnant with me so i think that’s where I get my love for Loards. My boyfriend will only eat Loards bubble gum ice cream. I personally love the maple walnut and the cookies n cream. The staff is always so polite and helpful.

Our local Loard’s in San Ramon closed about two years ago, so in order for us to satiate our ice cream cravings, we happily drive to this location for our fix. We have been here probably 3 or 4 times and appreciate the employees for their kindness and willingness to offer a sample or two while we decide on our flavor of the day. One of the staff members(or possibly the owner?), a younger Asian woman with beautiful skin, is always gracious and accommodated our gift cards, even though there were given from another location(we have had issues in the past with certain locations not honoring certificates issued from differing locations)…thanks! Try the Ube with Chocolate Sauce for a new delight!

Today the temperature got up to 104 degrees. Every time I went outside, all I wanted was some ice cream. But I had to work later than usual today, so by the time I left my office it was 9:05pm. Hoping that my favorite place had late hours, I drove across the street to Loard’s Ice Cream. Pulling up outside, I noticed that the neon lights were off, but still saw owner Sue inside. I glanced at the temperature on my car and at 9:15pm it was still 86 degrees. So I tried my luck and went to the door. I asked Sue of she was opened and she said no, but waved me in anyways. With a smile on her face, she called out my order before I could even say it, which is awesome and pathetic at the same time. I obviously need to lay off the ice cream sundaes. Anyway, I can’t say enough great things about Sue and the quality business that she runs. Thanks Sue and Loard’s!

5 star ice cream. Price is standard. I though had bad customer service: like 2 stars. It’s only one customer service experience, so it can’t weigh much, hence 4 stars

Don’t get me wrong on my 1 star rating of Loards Ice Cream. The quality and taste is not the problem. I have always been a fan since discovering the one in Alameda during my childhood & frequent the one in Oakland sometimes or pick up a gallon at Farmer Joes. I’ve been to this Alamo location a couple of times since I work within walking distance. But I don’t have a sweet tooth like some & its not a treat you want to eat too frequently because you will get fat(ter)…lol. Due to a very hot day I decided to treat myself to one scoop of strawberry ice cream which is $ 2.85. Now for this price I’m used to a generous amount preferably in a cup with a cone on top that I devour with a spoon. Instead the clerk who was scooping my ice cream purposely removed some ice cream from my bowl & returned it to the very large carton it comes in… wow are you kidding me. Alamo is a wealthy little town & this is pretty much the only ice cream shop in the area so I know many residents & people who work in the area frequent this location a lot. The clerk gave me some mumbled explanation as to why she was returning some ice cream. Something in regards to a small sugar vs. the white cone in which I prefer the sugar. I did not complain about it, paid her $ 2.85& told her to keep the $ 0.15 cents change left over from the $ 3 bucks I handed her. I will never return to this location because the clerk was painfully cheap by skimping me out of moderately priced ice cream. She handed over a half full small cup of ice cream. I guess she really needed that $ 0.15 cent tip I left because that is the last of «my» money she’ll ever see.

I got a scoop of the peanut butter fudge and my honey got a scoop of the mocha chip. Both were delicious but the peanut butter fudge was particularly creamy, rich and flavorful. The woman who helped us was extremely nice and offered tastes of whichever flavors we wanted. She quickly added, «we have 50!» Take that, Baskin Robbins!

Great customer service the girl helping us was very friendly as we were asking to try the flavors. i asked her what her favorite flavor was, she answered me in a heartbeat, «mocha fudge» So i ordered it, it was very similar to the mocha almond fudge from Dreyer’s but it was thick and chewy. the flavor was not as strong as I had hoped. it was pretty heavy cream content, somewhere in between Bi rite and cold stones. also tried the blueberry cheesecake flavor, which ended up being ‘meh’ unfortunately. Overall great service, however the flavors are a little lacking.

Dropped my ice cream cone on the counter when trying to sign a debit receipt for 5 dollars. Their response«would you like a bowl for that?»

If you are a Ben and Jerrys fan, you are gonna LOVE this ice cream! Hand made ice cream and a very large selection of flavors. You can buy a whole quart for $ 5.89 which is a steal when compared to store bought ice cream. I has the butterscotch swirl which was creamy, velvety, and thick and rich. It is truly a treat if you have the ice cream gods calling you out on a Saturday night. And the folks behind the counter are friendly and great as well.

I came here after Rite Aid broke my heart — why on earth do they have the Ice Cream counter if they no longer sell scoops? Anywho, I went to Loards. I remember not loving the Orinda location, but I was craving a scoop. The service was awesome, and the scoop was as well. Nice knowing there is a top notch place to get a scoop when you want one rather than pigging out on a whole carton.

Their bubble gum ice cream is my favorite and takes me back to my childhood, so creamy and yummy! My daughters love many other flavors here and it’s quite a treat when I get it to bring home when I’m out and about running errands! Very nice servers!
