If you want something intimately run with great southern hospitality and you want seafood, this is the place. I make it a point to stop in here every time I’m in town on business. Mom is always pleasant and the guys (one is Mom’s son) are hilarious. Although I’ve only been twice, they haven’t let me down and I believe 3^rd time’s a charm.

This place is the place for fresh seafood in Albany. And the market atmosphere means that you can buy your fresh fish and cook it at home if you’d like.
Fresh, wild caught fish brought in daily– the staff and chefs are nice and knowledgable.

Hey read review so when I hit town had to go try it. Well had the trout and it was pretty good. My mother tried fried shrimp which turned out to be good but a medium size shrimp. For what they charge it should have been jumbo shrimp. Like the fact that you can pick your fish and have it prepared for you. My favorite thing overall from first visit… Vegetables! Gotta say the wait is around 30 min. They were really good so I decided that I would come back before I leave town and get just Veggies. Went in restaurant expecting to get my veggies without the wait… No didn’t happen. First of all i gave my order to one of the cooks (I think it was the owners son). He wrote down the order. Then prepared it. When he prepared it and it was ready he told the cashier and she bagged it and gave it to her friend that had just walked inShe had just seen a friend of hers and she the proceeded to give my food to her friend and mind you the friend never paid extra for veggies she just decided to give her my veggies for free. I was there when he placed his order. he never ordered extra veggies. Just a reminder I had already paid. Then she just walked off. After a wait of about 20 min one of the cooks asked if I had been taken care of… I told him I was still waiting on my food. So after apologies from the cook. My food was prepared then since cashier never came back I had to wait 10 more min… for someone to hand me my food… just not professional in my opinion. While I was there a customer walked in to say he had been calling trying to place a order bug no one picked up phone… Not professional

Fried catfish was awesome great setting and value for the serving size a must in Albany if you enjoy fresh fish

The food is okay but suffers from a sense of déjà vu upon repeated visits. On all of the fried dishes they seem to have the same seasoning that makes all of the food taste the same. The service people are friendly enough but I could not escape the sensation that after the meal I was not satiated. After 3 visits and trying different dishes I have come to the conclusion that I maxed out on my experience there.
I won’t suggest that others don’t go but it will be a while before I go again.

Incredible meal. They recommended flounder, pulled it out of the ice in front of me, fried it to perfection, and 10 minutes later I was a happy man. I ordered the brussel sprouts based on the reviews. I don’t even like brussel sprouts but I could have eaten a bushel. They were incredible. Do yourself a favor and check this place out.

A coworker recommended Albany Fish. It was great! I ordered the catfish poboy.
Okay, I am from Louisiana, this is not an original poboy with tomato, lettuce, and mayo only. Theirs has coleslaw, cheese, pickles, and tomato. It was great. The catfish had a perfect fry on it. Crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. The slaw isn’t too sweet or too vinegary. It’s nicely balanced.
Next time I will get the hush puppies as my side. I had the fries. They were good but they are the thick cut and those are not my favorite, plus, I saw the hush puppies and they looked good!

Had lunch for the first time here today because people kept telling us how good it was… they were ALL right… great find in Albany… you won’t be sorry… my wife ordered the shrimp and grit cakes and I took the recommendation of the owner and had fried flounder… both were incredible… can’t wait to go back and try other things… nice fish market and the atmosphere is that of typical south GA which is fitting… very cool… keep up the good work gang…

Yup it’s F*#!King amazing.
I had the trout and it was so good I contemplated eating the bones. With that I ordered a side of spinach, corn, and brussel sprouts. The spinach was literally the best spinach I have ever had… I hate corn and I ate every single kernel, and I love brussel sprouts and these were solid.
In summation, drive through Albany, eat here and then order something for the morning because I know I will.

Very welcoming! Didn’t have a lobster appetizer on the menu so the chef asked me what I wanted and made it for me. Fish was fresh and cooked to perfection. Sides were awesome. I am happy to say that I have been there, done that, and I did get the T-​shirt. I will be back next trip to Albany!

This is why I use Unilocal.This is over 200 miles from my home and not a place I would’ve ever noticed if not for Unilocal.If you love «local» cuisine, eat here. I had shrimp n grits, not my usual choice for seafood, but I saw one pass by in the server’s hands and it looked tasty so I ordered it. Very happy with the flavor, texture and quality of the ingredients. Not inexpensive to eat here, but white tablecloth food for much less than I have paid for inferior dishes.
I hope I have an excuse to visit Albany again so I can try something else

Albany Fish company is not a restaurant. It is an experience. I constantly am traveling and eating at different restaurants across the country and consider myself a foodie, so it is not lightly that i say the following. Albany Fish Company is one of the best restaurants i have ever eaten at.
Firstly…the food. Fresh seafood as it was meant to be served. Immense proportions. and everything, i mean everything is made with true southern love. I felt like more than anywhere i have eaten, the food truly represented the heart of the south. Try the fried grouper and side plantains for a truly great experience.
Lastly…the ambience. This is truly a family affair, and you see the love that goes into the food the minute you walk in the door and are greeted by the owners with a smile and a song. The son is an immensely talented chef and takes the time to reach out to you directly to discuss the menu. Everyone is there because they want to be. They love sharing the gift of love and food.
Go here if you are within an hours drive. It will not disappoint.

Popped in on a random Tuesday night. Absolutely amazing seafood. You pick out your catch in the market and then chef prepares your meal while you take a seat and table next door. I happened to have fried mullet with fried corn (on the cob but sliced) and fried rice. Very cozy and friendly atmosphere with a staff that makes sure you don’t want for anything. Food came out fast and hot and unbelievable. Chef also comes out to greet you and make sure everyone is satisfied with their meals. If you are visiting Albany you must eat here. You will not be disappointed in any way. It’s really that good. Pay close attention to the pictures provided on Unilocal.The food is even somehow better than it looks and as you can see the presentation is awesome.

Family run excellent place. The owner introduced himself and showed us the seafood display to talk about everything they had. Great local seafood selection.
I could not decide and I wanted to try many things. The owner was great at helping me put together a great selection. I had a fried brim (my favorite of the day) mullet, mullet eggs, a croaker and some cole slaw. Very Lightly batter, not oily at all. I am not normally a fried fish person but this was light and excellent.
I travel allot and love finding little places like this.

I cannot say enough about this restaurant. The food is amazing! The seafood is fresh and expertly prepared. The atmosphere is extremely laid back and the staff is always friendly. The restaurant sits in an unassuming strip mall and is a hidden little gem. It also serves as a fresh seafood market and the seafood you order is plucked right from the display as you order.. Do yourself a favor try this place one time. You will not regret it

I have eaten here 3 times over the course of the past week. They are serving all types of seafood from fried mullet to stuffed Florida spiny lobster and there sides are on par with the mains.
Every time that I have been to AFC it has been an excellent experience. It is a different approach to a restaurant, but it is a great approach! You order everything at the counter and have a seat, then their entire staff checks on you throughout your meal. It is low key and that is the draw! Dont expect a fine dining experience as AFC is no fuss and no pretense and that is a great thing! What it is is an authentic, down south, family run restaurant with a trained Chef that will let you leave full on FRESH seafood dishes and feeling like a member of the family.

We had the low country broil and it was pretty good, but kind of spicy… I think it’s cooked with a jalapeño pepper. It contains: blue crab, jumping shrimp, sausage, snow crab, crawfish, king crab, corn, and red potatoes. In a large pan for $ 29.99. Great customer service and the also have fried seafood as well. The corn is grilled…

Highly recommended! We had crab legs, crab cakes, fried shrimp, grilled shrimp, asparagus and fried rice. Lots of flavor, cooked to perfection. I’ll be back!
