Takeout or delivery; the food stays the same. Decent selection and takes me back to when I was in summer college as a high-schooler. Not my first choice for a meal but sometimes you just want a calzone with different fillings and DP Dough will fill that need. Not too bad on delivery times and take-away is pretty quick as well. Finding parking for pick up is a bit difficult for their location, but overall a decent stand-by go-to place for pizza alternative. My biggest pet peeve for this location; I wish they would change their menu to reflect that their zone of the day is $ 6 and not $ 5 on the menu. Of course they have the fine print of «prices subject to change without notice» but still, it’s disingenuous.

Okay okay. Last time I’ll update here. Today I was very tired from airplane travel and despite our last two experiences this some how gets brought up as a good idea for lunch. Great news today was good. Everything we ordered was enjoyable. Italian zone. Passing zone. Chocolate chip cookies. Boneless wings and pesto bread. Only thing no dice was that awful garlic dipping sauce they give with the bread sticks. Super fake tasting. This is college late night delivery style food but when they execute it well and deliver it still hot it can be exactly what’s you are hoping for… a bit of low brow decadence. Pesto bread and chocolate chip cookies are the stand outs for me. Other local pizza joints likely have better calzones but I like that these are smaller so it’s more acceptable to have everyone order their own zone.

This looks like a decent place, food came out 10 minutes after ordering when no one was there except my co worker and I. I counted 9 slices of pepperoni in my calzone… Couldn’t even taste the pep over the cheese… There were two employees working, the same one that took our orders prepared and cooked our food. This left me wondering what the other employee was doing that was so important. Right now I am writing this at the table and both employees are on their phones leaning on the counter and the oven. Bull spit… Don’t waste your $ 8 on a shitty«zone.»

Tried out DP Dough Albany tonight. Not f*cking happy that my calzone, somehow managed to have a fully baked exterior yet the«cheese» inside is completely stone cold. I had to f*cking microwave it. Guess I won’t be ordering again. And neither will any of the hotel guests, cause when delivery places make the front desk staff unhappy we toss your menus & direct tourists and other employees far, FAR away from you … −10÷10 will never recommend

I have loved this place since around 2007. It was one of my most frequented locations after a night of drinking while in downtown Albany. The staff is always friendly, talkative and helpful. The one thing that irritates me is that some of them speak really fast over the phone, which makes it difficult to understand them(obviously). So when I ask them to slow down, or repeat what they just said/asked, there is always a hint of annoyance in their voice. I get it, you’re trying to take an order quickly and get it out the door, or maybe you have a long line of(drunk) people that are also waiting… but don’t be a jerk just because I can’t understand what you’re babbling at me. Regardless of this small(and I mean, it doesn’t phase me enough to where I don’t go back, small), the calzones are GREAT! Phenomenal! I get the ham and pineapple calzone, typically. And I am always extremely satisfied. I never can finish a whole one, and wind up with left overs. Which always has me extremely excited when I come to the realization the next day!

$ 12 for really small wings. I don’t think so. Calzones are good so they’ve got that, which is nice.

This place is amazing. So many different options I got a different calzone every time I have visited. If you want an awesome stuffed treat and a ton of food this is your place.

We ordered delivery via grubhub and were very pleased that the food came 20 minutes before the estimated time. I got the Buffalo chicken zone and my husband had the end zone and the pineapple and ham zone It was very filling for a great price. Each one came in its own box labeled so we could tell them apart. We even got a dessert one with apple pie filling to share. The apples were nice with still a bit of crunch and not the overcooked blobs from a can that you might expect. We will definitely try again.

I ordered a large sausage pizza from DP dough. They told me delivery would be twenty minutes. the 20 minute mark arrived and I heard my door bell rang. What happened next was nothing short of odd, two large men came to my door in nothing but their underwear. They said they would put the DP in my dough. I ended up tipping them very generously will definitely order from again.

Nice staff but the calzones aren’t worth it. I feel bad giving this place such a low rating, but the Roni Zone I ordered was pretty disappointing. I have ordered from here a few times in the past and it has always been about average. Two of those times were on their free calzone day, so I can’t complain concerning those times, but I do remember having the similar complaints the other times I called for delivery. My friend and I were decided to order their Zone of the day, which are $ 5 compared to $ 7, which is supposed to contain mozzarella, ricotta, parmesan and pepperoni. Well, I honestly couldn’t taste even an ounce of ricotta on the entire thing, there was so little cheese that it also seemed almost nonexistent, and the pepperoni seemed to have been picked up by a handful and placed in only one area of the calzone all in a big heap. I don’t know what other people look for in a calzone, but the mixture of cheese is my favorite part. I would have much preferred to order their cheese calzone if that was their zone of the day. The dough is quite tasty, but it didn’t come close to satisfying my craving for a good calzone. We also ordered the loaded tater tots, which weren’t bad but it is not something to order for delivery. The cheese was cold so it was solid. It had potential though. If I was to ever go to the establishment to eat I would consider ordering it then. We ordered it for delivery on a day where it was snowing pretty heavily, but it said on Facebook that they were still open and willing to deliver so my friend and I took advantage of it. They guy ended up showing up 45 minutes later. Quite impressive timing for such a day, so I will give them props there, and hence the 2 stars. Overall, if you want the midnight munchies I’m sure this place is perfect(especially since they are open so late), but if you’re looking for a quality calzone this is not your place.

This DP dough is wonderful. Just like the DP I used to love to get out in Ithaca NY. I’ve heard old owners didn’t do it justice, the new place has owners that have been in Albany for a long time and care about the city and food they’re making. It’s just as good as I remember my cherished DP out in Ithaca, definitely recommended. If you’re thinking of pizza again, you’ve had it all in NY. Check out their calzones you won’t regret it.

This place was recently taken over by new owners and, so far as I can tell, it has improved. Quality of food probably won’t blow you out of the water but it’s good enough to hit the spot for late-night munchies. They have good weekly specials such as Wednesdays, when they offer all calzones for the«Zone of the Day» price of $ 5. What brings this from a 3 star to a 4 star review has been the quality of service since the new guys took over. Staff has been consistently friendly and welcoming, and even make decent conversation if you’re sitting there waiting for your calzone to cook. A few visits back, their internet/phone system apparently went down, because all of a sudden they couldn’t take credit cards and the ATM crapped out as well. Having no cash, I received my $ 20 order gratis after just a minute or two of them fidgeting around with their computer. This kind of treatment SHOULD be expected, but unfortunately most places don’t give their staff the kind of latitude to give that much food away. I definitely appreciated it.

The food is certainly not five-star, but it used to be at least acceptable quick and cheap fare. The place closed for awhile and reopened recently. I’ve gotten food from here twice since it’s reopened and both times my food has been incredibly unappetizing. I ordered the Chicken Parmazone, and the fillings used to be simply cheese and chicken, with marinara on the side. Since the reopen, marinara has been added to the inside of the calzone — rendering it a soggy mess. I’ll give it two stars because of the cool old-school video games they’ve added to the dining area, but I’m probably not inclined to order from here again.

I was not surprised to see such poor ratings for DP Dough before 2013. This place has come a long way since it went under new management a year ago. Their calzones are pretty much the same, but their customer service has dramatically improved. The storefront was remodeled as well.

Sat here for 30 mins waiting for food and they tell us they lost our order. Seriously if we went somewhere else we would have food by now. Not happy. The people that came in after us got their food way before us and the place was not crowded at all! The staff just watched us sit there and sit there without wondering/questioning where our food order was.

«The Inevitable Drop-Zone» by Josh K. I don’t know what possesses me to still order from this place, like I did last night. I usually get DP Dough once a year after a late night out. Unfortunately, it’s pretty much the only late night fast food(outside of pizza) in Albany. Convenience is the key here. Service and quality is obviously not. The food is never fresh(the dough is always cold and stale) and delivery can take anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours. If you are ordering here, then it’s most likely you should not be behind the wheel, thus pick up is most certainly not an option(not like the product would be any better anyway). Perhaps it’s my fond memories of visiting my friends who went to college in Ithaca where the raucous nights would always end with a monstrous calzone from the venerable Ithaca staple — DP Dough. In Buffalo, there was always Jim’s Steakout and Mighty Taco, so 5 dollar calzones(with a menu featuring just every filling imaginable) were a cheap change of pace. Stupid and drunk, we would just need something substantial to curb late night munchies and hopefully prevent the inevitable hangover the next morning. DP Dough delivered to something ridiculously late(like 5am or something). I almost always order the«Drop Zone» — a calzone filled with chicken Parmesan, pepperoni, ricotta cheese, and mozzarella. At the time, this was awesome, and if you are still in college, I would imagine the Albany location is just as amazing. Nowadays, no longer a college student, I only feel regret after this unnecessary indulgence. My recovery takes more time, and the guilt and shame takes even longer. Instead of ending with a fitful pass out, a late-night meal at DP Dough almost always ends with a unpleasant«drop-zone» of a different nature, if you catch my drift.

I have eaten here a few times, and the food is ok. It’s what you’d expect, given the location and price. However, don’t ask for delivery. In the past I“ve always just picked it up myself, given that I live half a block away. But I figured this time I’d let them deliver it, it’s worth the $ 2 to have it brought to my door. My estimated arrival time was 8:18(I ordered on grubhub). 8:18 came and went, so I called. The guy who picked up was very terse but assured me it had gone out for delivery. 20 more minutes went by before I called again, telling him that I live half a block away and if it had gone out it would be here by now. By this time it had been an hour and 20 minutes, but the employee was completely unapologetic and unhelpful. I waited some more. Finally, my calzone arrived. COLD. Not lukewarm, just cold. As though it had been sitting in the car for an hour, which I’m sure it probably was. It was so cold the cheese was hard. I stuck it in the oven, so that I could eat my dinner, some 2 hours after I ordered it. Stay away. The food is okay, but the service and customer appreciation are nonexistent.

DP Dough specializes in offering a good variation of calzones or «zones» and mini calzones or «zonies» at reasonable prices. They also offer wraps, chicken tenders, wings, salads, breadsticks, bottled Coke products, and Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream pints. The calzones and wraps are $ 7(tax included). This is definitely the kind of food I’d be craving as a college student, which is high in calories and fat and the ideal food to consume after a night of drinking. DP Dough is open late at least until 2AM and open til 4AM on Saturday and Sunday mornings. I stopped in for takeout at this DP Dough location on Western Ave near Quail St, which was staffed by college students. This shop is order at the counter and there are a few booths & stools and TV on the wall in the cozy dining area. I ordered a Chicken Faijita Wrap and a Drop Zone, which were ready in about 15 minutes after ordering. The Chicken Fajita Wrap was a good size, a soft warm flour tortilla wrapped and filled with boneless chicken breast, lettuce, tomato, red onions, cheese, jalepenos, & sour cream. The Drop Zone calzone was a soft chewy dough pocket filled with pepperoni, breaded chicken filet pieces, mozzarella, ricotta(minimal), parmesan cheese, served with a cup of thick marinara sauce on the side. The food I ordered was a-ok and not too greasy. Delivery is offered(with $ 7 minimum purchase), $ 1 gas surcharge.
