Sun Fair is pretty good americanized Chinese food. Friendly folks. Nothing fancy. Much like any other takeout Chinese food place. I get food from here often enough due to the convenient location to me. OK place to get food if you happen to be in the area. Decent prices and choices.

I stopped in at Sun Fai for lunch takeout. Located in a not so busy plaza(Mid City), this old school Chinese takeout restaurant is order at the counter with open kitchen and self serve table seating, a bit chilly in here though. I ordered the L48 Eggplant With Garlic Sauce($ 5 plus tax) with Pork Fried Rice, ready to go in about 10 minutes. For the main dish, the soft eggplant pieces were battered on the outside with a mix of vegetables covered in a sweet sauce. The fried rice(golden color) was soft and had small pieces of pork and onions in the mix. The food was pretty decent and reasonably priced.

Well, I really wanted to like this place but it was a miss. The egg drop soup was thick and near cold and had no flavor. The sesame chicken was spicy and not crispy. The sauce that comes with the dumplings, me and my boyfriend didn’t like. And the complimentary noodles were bland. My chicken and broccoli was okay.

This is the Chinese take-out place closest to my house, so it’s the one I frequent. That said, it’s not bad. The menu is exactly the same as every other Chinese place. But the people there are nice and I’ve seen them eating their own food, so you know it’s not dirty! Most of the stuff there is good, save the szechuan style tofu. Yikes. Anyway, kudos, Sun Fai!
