This place smelled terrible! It smelled like a housing project. Kind of a mixture between cigarette smoke and rat droppings. I was looking for Hotel Midwestern. Drove passed them not knowing they do biz as Knights Inn… didn’t know I was staying in an inn. The night guy was hanging out in someone’s car listening to rap music when we pulled up. I couldn’t tell he actually worked there until he walked in and around the counter. I felt like I was doing him a disservice by breaking up the party he was throwing in the parking lot. I took a shower and the water left an indescribable film on me. I was itching and felt discussing. The comforter was dusty too. I slapped the bed as a joke just to see how much dust would fly up. I went into an uncontrollable sneezing fit… not funny. This place was so gross. I wish i had just paid up and went somewhere else. I couldn’t even sleep because I was so uncomfortable. But other then that is was perfect! Lol Just kidding it was terrible.

If the option to select zero stars were available, I would. Allow me to preface this review by stating that part of my issue was Hotels.com’s fault for even allowing this«hotel» to advertise on their site due to reasons I will explain further. However, by no means, should it be lost on you that this entire debacle is still squarely Knights Inn/Hotel Midwestern/Days Inn’s responsibility. As a consumer, you/we are entitled to have full understanding of the practices of any place we consider doing business with. Without further delay, I will explain why you should NOT ever stay at this motel. 1. Name– listed this motel as «Hotel Midwestern.» You should know that my partner and I do NOT stay at motels or inns. Imagine how surprised we were to discover that this place is in fact a Knights Inn – not a hotel. This was truly a bait-and-switch. 2. listed this motel as a 3 ½ star hotel under the name«Hotel Midwestern.» It is mighty deceptive that under«Days Inn» this motel is actually a 1 ½ star on Unilocal! 3. Check-In– My partner and I were traveling on a road trip across the country. It was late. We needed to stop and rest. Around 8 pm, we booked a reservation with what we thought was a 3 ½ star hotel. When we arrived, the young guy working the desk expressed his confusion at our arrival because he wasn’t aware there were any reservations for that evening. We let him see our confirmation from . After repeatedly stating how our reservation was not in the system, and how he was only the night staff person, he told me that I couldn’t speak to a manager because«he was it.» The funny thing is that when my partner called , all of a sudden, the desk guy remembered that there WAS a manager he was able to call. The manager told the guy at the desk that we were SOL because our reservation«cancelled at midnight.» This is obviously a moot point, because we booked a room for the 28th-29th. We arrived shortly after midnight on the 29th. Long story short, the representative haggled it out with the desk guy and we FINALLY got a room. 4. Stay– The floor was filthy. The room was dusty. However, that wasn’t the strange part. My partner started having an asthma attack around 5:30 in the morning. We went to the car to try and find his inhaler. Imagine my surprise when I see the DESKGUY from earlier in the evening, sitting in a car in front of the hotel blasting music with the doors open, laughing and smoking with a group of people! When we finally found the inhaler about 30 minutes later, the party continued long after we returned to our room. 5. The next morning, we went to the lobby to skeptically scout out the promised«continental breakfast.» Well, if three tubs of cereal on a table constitute as a breakfast, go nuts! That is what you’ll get here. 6. We skipped breakfast and made a beeline for the manager tending the desk. We explained our issues from the night before and she essentially blamed the night guy. However, the guy from the desk spoke to HER during our entire transaction the night before. He only did what she instructed him to. Then she explained the bs policy of cancelling reservations after midnight and explained that she just couldn’t have been bothered to deal with us the night before because she didn’t have a babysitter for her child. While the latter part of her story is unfortunate, I do not have sympathy for a person who decides to manage a hotel knowing that they may not have the resources to be fully responsive or is not willing to provide his or her night staff with better instructions. Overall, do not stay at this hotel. The business owner deceptively advertises this motel on hotel broker sites under several names, turns away late night travelers with confirmed reservations from these site and refuses to acknowlege that her policies are irrational.

My family had the displeasure of staying at this hotel, formerly known as the knights inn, now the Midwestern Hotel. This was by far one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed in! Upon check in, there was no desk clerk, after waiting about 10 minutes, I noticed another guest looking for ice, he passed in the hall a gal who appeared to work there & inquired about the ice machine. She said she didn’t know where the ice machine was, he asked if she worked there, she said no. Then she proceeded to walk to the front desk and check me in! There were no towels initially & the room was filthy. The sheets and towels were stained(once I actually got towels), there was no remote in the room and the wifi never worked! The buttons on the TV were broken making it impossible to change channels manually. All night long there was a fire alarm chirping in the next room over, and the BESTPART is the pathetic breakfast that was tossed out for guests to eat. A few loafs of bread, peanut butter and jelly. Generic milk and cereal. There was nobody manning the breakfast table and while I was checking out the spread, I was shoved out of the way by an unattended child who proceeded to touch everything and finally sneeze on the entire table of food! The back door was shattered and covered with a piece of plywood! I could go on and on, but I will just leave you with the suggestion to run, rather than walk away from this hotel!

Stayed here while they were under construction so it was pretty empty which was nice. We got to use the pool and the hot tub without much disturbance. Friendly staff, clean room, great price. I’d stay here again.

This motel is a Knights Inn now. Decided to stay here on our yearly trek from Detroit to South Dakota. My wife won’t let me forget it, and I wish I could. First thing upon entering this outdated dingy room, I went to turn on the A/C. The curtains went to the floor. So, to get the A/C in the room, you have to open the curtains. I personally don’t care for everyone walking by our room, being able to watch me and my family! Within 5 minutes of walking in the room, my two year old son found a pill on the floor, and promptly put it in his mouth. Nice job vacuuming! I wouldn’t even think of trying out the hot tub! As grimy and dirty as the room was, can you imagine what«things» are floating in there? To top it off, the room was close to $ 70 after taxes! Several attempts have been made to try and voice some concerns with management over my son finding drugs on the floor. They have refused to even respond. Thank goodness I got it out of his mouth before he swallowed it! I’d sleep in my car before I stayed at this poor excuse for a motel. P. S. The wifi sucked.
