This restaurant is for ambience of a diner, the hamburger was good, but the fries and onion rings were not good. Milk shake was really good.

I got a cheeseburger with fries and it was very good, but it was too small-they were too expensive for the size. The amount of fries was very skimp too. Also, they have ketchup in glass jars that were SOOOOOO inconvenient and a hassle to mess with!!! My friend had to bang the ketchup jar to get me some out! One of the only times the waiter came by, my friend informed him of the ketchup issue, and he said there is a trick to getting it out. THATISSOANNOYING of the restaurant owner/manager to have«tricks» to getting some ketchup. I don’t want tricks when I’m eating, I just want to eat! There were also terrible parents with terrible kids dining with the rest of society! They let their two kids(around 11), son and daughter, jump and play all around the restaurant, the WHOLETIME, while they nor the staff or managers did anything!!! The whole restaurant was CLEARLY annoyed. Everyone had very unpleasant expressions while staring in disbelief at the bad parents and bad kids. Who wants to dine in a circus?! The bad little girl almost knocked down an elderly lady, and at that time, finally the man(another customer) seated next to me got up and spoke to the kid’s parents, but they were very defensive and ignorant and continued to let their kid’s be bad. Don’t ask me why I didn’t speak to the manager, I just didn’t. I don’t even see why I would have to!!! I PAY to eat here, so why do I have to tell you how to run your restaurant too?! Next thing, was that even though our waiter was nice, he was VERY inattentive. He never came by to check on us, never came by to refill our drinks until it was too late because I was choking by then(and only came by ONCE to refill), and I wanted dessert but he took forever to even bring me the menu back!!! He wasn’t new or nervous or anything, you can tell that was just him. Last thing, on the menu they have a «rich thick malt» and then a «½ malt». I asked the waiter how big the«½ malt» is, but he couldn’t give me an answer. So, I figured that for $ 3.99 it wouldn’t be too bad. So, I order a chocolate malt, but when he brought it to me, I was speechless!!! It was TINYYYY!!! I’m talking child size. The straw was bigger than the cup. Even though it was really good, I didn’t get to enjoy much of it, since it was gone in like two sips.(I included a picture of it) I am divided with this place. MYEXPERIENCE was unpleasant, and also if I was rich and could afford to eat tiny burgers with a tiny amount of fries and a tiny malt, then I would try here again, because it IS tasty,…but I won’t be back, MYSELF.

Definitely a throwback to the ‘diner’ times. Décor and menu are in accordance. Food was okay. We tried the ostmesl, fender bender and egg breakfast.

I ate at 66 Diner with my family in July 2015, and we all loved this restaurant. The décor and atmosphere is from the fun days of Route 66 travel. The waitresses all dress like car hop waitresses. The staff were all super friendly and made the dining experience very fun. The service was excellent. The food quality was very good. Portion size was generous. Price was very reasonable. Menu items included; fries, burritos, burgers, fried chicken, salads, soups, sandwiches, milk shakes, pies, sundaes and banana splits. Since we were celebrating, we ordered the banana split for group of five. It was giant with at least 10 scoops of ice cream, whip cream, nuts, etc… It was so big, the five of us could not finish it. This is a must if you are celebrating anything. I would eat here again next time I’m in the area. It was a lot of fun.

Went here last week for a dine to donate. The theme is nice, they have green chile, it’s by campus, and majority of staff seems super nice. However, our waiter seemed like he was having a bad day and the large groups of people coming in for the dine to donate didn’t seem to please. He forgot one of our burgers, and implied we didn’t order it and asked very odd questions to us about where it was. Maybe he was suspicious? Well we wait another 20 minutes for it but in the end the food was decent, not the best and not the worst. It is really great they do dine to donates and support our community! Ps. order a milkshake.

After seeing all the pictures of ice cream, I had to stop by on my road trip! We ordered a Brownie Sunday and Black Forest shake to go. The girl at the front was sweet, seeing the interior made me wish we ate there! The brownie was fudgey goodness My shake– chocolate ice cream with cherries. Sounds so simple but it’s the best! If I’m ever in Albuquerque again, I’ll be back for another

The décor is so awesome with all the old memorabilia it really takes you back when the times were so great, happy people, happy ambiance make for«Happy Days» everything is truly special about this 66 diner! We only ordered a Banana Split with brownie’s between 3 of us as they said this was really large, and NOJOKE~~HOLYMOLY this was one HUGE Banana Split with all the bells and whistles and than some! I cannot wait to dine in and treat myself to some lunch/dinner options. I cannot wait for my happy return!

Very cute establishment on Route 66 with a service team that wears befitting garb for the diner’s throwback style. Average diner food with a great attitude! Will be back again for sure :-)

Great service. Old route 66 feel. I had the chicken fried steak but go with the cream gravy not the brown so much better the potato salad is like homemade and believe it or not they have strawberry rhubarb milkshakes delicious.

Awesome diner food with a New Mexican twist! This place has an awesome atmosphere. The bar counter is cute, and the Disney Pez above it are adorable. Plus, they have free Pez candy by the cash register! It isn’t on Nob Hill(it would fit in better there), but it is near UNM. It still feels very Route 66-ey though. The service is okay. Our waitress was not that friendly, but got the job done. Since we were sitting at the counter, we got to talk to all of the other servers and they were super nice. The 50s style garb that the servers wore added to the feel of the diner. In my opinion, food was expensive for diner food. The burgers weren’t bad at $ 10, but I thought $ 15 for chicken fried steak and $ 13 for chicken fried chicken were excessive. The blue plate specials were a good deal though, and you don’t need a huge meal when you order a milkshake. I love how the food has a New Mexican twist. I ordered the green chile burger. It was a basic burger with green chile on it. It wasn’t the spiciest, but sure had a kick. The burger was cooked well and not dry or crumbly. It also wasn’t too thick, which I dislike. The fries were average. I was hoping for either a Five Guys or Steak ‘n Shake kinda thing. Surprisingly, the posole was the best we had in Albuquerque. The blue plate special for Tuesday(chicken pot pie) was good. Nothing AMAZING, but for less than $ 10, it was great. The main attraction here are the milkshakes. They are handmade by the waitstaff. Almost everyone in our party ordered the half size shake, while two of us split the full size. The half size was huge(for being half sized)! It was the size of a shake glass. The full size is two full glasses! They pour half of the shake in the glass and the other half is given to you in the metal cup they used to blend it. If we’re ever back in NM, we might just come here for the shakes and the blue plate specials.

FOOD I love the milkshakes here(mint chocolate chip is my favorite) — they come in generous portions and are made really well. I am also a big fan of the blue plate specials, especially the Chicken & Dumplings on Wednesdays. Their burgers and fries are just OK in my opinion, but my husband really likes their green chile cheeseburger. They have daily specials and PIE specials, which are also good. AMBIENCE The atmosphere at 66 Diner is straight retro-50s, which is also fun. Best to go at off-peak hours unless you want to battle the crowds, though. RUGRATS? 66 Diner is child-friendly with a decent kids’ menu and plenty of high chairs with buckles that work. They also provide crayons and coloring pages for entertainment.

Really nice authentic-diner food in an amazingly fun atmosphere. When I managed to make it here on my Route 66 pilgrimage, there was a local photography club here taking period-pictures with pinups! Food is great, and Lexi my waitress was friendly and attentive as can be asked for. I would definitely recommend this to anyone in the area!

My grandpa suggested that we grab a bite at the 66 Diner for lunch. I immediately was torn between a strong desire to join him and a less strong desire to run home to eat where I might be able to exercise some self control(which I knew would not be possible at 66 Diner). The atmosphere is a 50s diner, bright lights and 50s style uniforms. Oldies were playing on the juke box. The only reason I don’t give this place 5 stars is because it seems dated in a bad way. I think they could stand to put in new flooring, new blinds. I don’t think that the look needs to change but the floor is so old it looks kind of dirty, same with the blinds. I’m not suggesting that it is unclean, but you know when you have some old thing that looks dirty even after it’s just been washed? Yeah, like that. Otherwise it’s a clean and fun atmosphere. You CANNOT visit this place and not get a milkshake. It’s impossible. My grandpa and I shared the banana cream pie shake, which was excellent. Our only regret was forgetting to ask for malt. The milk shakes are huge, served with the extra on the side in a tin. If you split one, it fills two full glasses. For lunch I contemplated ordering something healthy, although that would have been challenging to find on this menu. It’s full of old fashioned favorites like chicken fried steak, burgers, fries, and a few New Mexican favorites. I ended up getting the Albuquerque Turkey which was delicious. My diet went out the window and I upgraded to the Kicks 66 Fries which are smothered in queso and chopped green chile. I had to eat them with a fork. I thought I might be able to stop at half, but I ate them all because they were sooo good.

Went the diner after a Big Brother Big Sister event. The server would not allow the kids to share a milkshake. After that I didn’t have a reason to consider the food and environment.

Stopped at 66 Diner after seeing that it was the inspiration for Flo’s V8 Café in Cars Land, and was very happy that we decided to stop here. The diner had that Route 66 and retro feel that you would expect, while offering excellent service and a decent meal for a fair price.

Lovely place! All the decoration on the wall and along the ceiling are very cute. And they have bars for you and feels good to sit there. As for the food, it’s definitely good. And saw the icecream, that must be good. It looks so pretty and yum!

In my opinion, this place has the BEST milkshakes in ABQ! For a cheap price and way more than I could finish in one sitting. The food is decent, I ordered the grilled h and cheese sandwich(because I thought it might be too childish to order the grilled cheese) and it was decently good. My friend ordered the French dip and she was also pleased with it. Neither of us could finish our meals or shakes, so we were happy and full. Cool perk– instead of mints or candy, you get a pack of PEZ. Yeah. You heard me right, PEZ. I feel like such a happy kid :-)

So this is a cute place. Yes, it’s gimmicky. Yes, it’s sort of a tourist trap. But I thought the prices were reasonable, the place well maintained, and the food pretty good. I definitely recommend stopping by to «get your kicks» while on Rt. 66. Pink Cadillac Deluxe Shake(strawberry ice cream + milk + Oreos all blended together, topped with whipped cream) — Tasted very delicious and super refreshing. Too thick to be able to drink through a straw when brought to the table, so use the spoon while you wait for it to melt a bit. There was only one hard-working waitress who was in charge of making all the shakes and sundaes. Girl didn’t stop for a break the whole time we were there! Hamburger Platter, which is an Angus chuck burger, with mustard, mayo, lettuce, tomato, pickle, and onion, served with a side of Cole slaw — Nice portion of meat patty. Solid and tasty basic burger. Pile Up, which are pan-fried potatoes, chopped bacon, chopped green chile, two eggs over easy, and cheddar cheese, all topped with red chile sauce — Awesome comfort food. We got the ½ Pile Up, which was enough to share among a few people. Blue Plate Special of Chicken and Dumplings, served with a side of cornbread — The C&D was too soup-like, but did have a lot of diced chicken, carrots, celery, and mini-dumplings. Taste was quite good. I actually liked this more than I thought I would. Treat this as thick chicken soup with veggies and dumplings and it’ll be okay. I like that the dish came with cornbread, but it was so dry, not stale, but dry. I ended up pouring some of the milkshake over it and it was pretty delicious then. Oreos fix everything! Take the bill to the register to pay. Then continue on your trip!

Loved it
