Let me start on a positive note, I’m not going to punish a plastic skating rink for not being an ice skating rink any more than I’d punish a dog for not being a pony. This review is based on the Buddy’s experience. Also, it takes a lot of energy to freeze water 24⁄7 for the couple of people who actually use it so a plastic skating rink is actually a pretty good idea especially for outdoor summer activities. Falling on a plastic rink doesn’t hurt as much and kids can just walk if they don’t know how to skate. Overall though, the experience was not wholly enjoyable. There is a lot more friction on plastic so it winds up being more work. There are tons of tiny plastic shards that coat your clothes and stick due to static. The rink is about 40’x80’. The rink is put together with plastic puzzle pieces and I can’t say the transitions were noticeable which is a good thing. The rink was not perfectly level though so you had to really push on some portions of the rink. My kids were not entirely entertained and I was ready to go after about 20 minutes. The atmosphere on whole was a bit stale.
