If you value hand crafted homemade food that’s fresh, unique and delicious this is your place. The Fallwhich and Autumn Salad are absolutely delicious and a place of this quality is a rarity in Albuquerque. Come support excellent local food!

I wandered into Hartford square on a whim foregoing my usual breakfast spots. This downtown eatery is quant and conveniently located off of tijeras and Broadway. The place has a good vibe and the service was great, however the food was lacking in a few crucial areas: portion size and temperature! I ordered the breakfast burrito and my girlfriend had the sausage biscuit we also shared an autumn salad. The prices seem reasonable at first but after I received my food I did not feel the same way. Everything was decent but not satisfying the sausage biscuits was ridiculously small for 6.50(one biscuit with no side) The autumn salad was also pitifully portioned for $ 5 — it was literally a pinch of greens and should be half the price. After looking at my breakfast I turned to the kitchen and realized that this place just doesn’t have the means to support piping hot food and even the coffee was tepid. I am disappointed to see a place that has potential to serve fresh delicious food failing to deliver. Salad greens are inexpensive and the salad could easily be buffed up. The burrito needed green chile(this is New Mexico after all). Most of all I wanted the coffee and food to be hot. I recommend this place if you want a quick light bite but not if you expect a hot weekend breakfast.

A great treat. Fresh organic and local food. The corn chowder with smoked salmon was excellent. As were the toasted ricotta/mozzarella/spinach sandwich and a superb dough cake with orange and cranberries. Reasonable prices. Very friendly service. Attractive layout. Will definitely go again. A winner.

Since I moved up to ABQ back in the summer I would pass Hartford Square often and needed a good excuse to stop by. Finally after 6 months it finally happened. First off parking to the restaurant is perfect. There is free parking along the street up to 2 hours. That means you can park up front and enjoy your meal. Today my brother and I came in for breakfast and left satisfied and full. Their breakfast menu is small but you know that each meal will be prepared perfectly. I went with the Baked French Toast. My first thought when ordering is that I will get a couple of slices of the French Toast, boy was I wrong. When my plate arrived I was surprised with a large, thick Cinnamon Swirl Pumpkin bread layered with vanilla nutmeg custard and baked. The French Toast was topped with old windmill pumpkin chèvre crème fraîche, caramel sauce & sautéed Caramel Pears. Each bite I was greeted with pears that complimented the French Toast well. The atmosphere is very inviting and relaxing. You can come for a good cup of coffee, and enjoy your time without being rushed. I really liked the open kitchen and friendly staff. Close to downtown and and some of the best restuants in EDo(East downtown)

We visited Albuquerque last week and were looking for something to eat. Checked out Unilocal and found this place. It has some good ratings so we thought we should get in. The place was weird. The kitchen was so big but not a lot of places/tables to eat. I ordered a burrito with egg and kale inside. That was the weirdest burrito ever. The tortilla was good but so hard to cut it or even chew it because they did not even slice/cut the whole leaf of kale! I kept going anyway because I was so hungry. If you’re not careful with it, you’ll get choked! I got a farmer’s root soup too and it could have been good if it was hot :( My husband got coffee and it’s cold too. As well as the steak in his salad though they have good dressing. And in fairness to the girls who served us, they were nice :)

Literally, EVERYTHING here taste old and bitter and for some reason, sour. It tasted as if it had been pre-made and sitting in a sour old fridge all week! It is DISGUSTING. I am not exaggerate by any means. It was very very gross. The huevos rancheros had sour chile that tasted so acidic and flavorless that it was stunning. The food was cold. The restaurant ambiance was more like a sterile cue line for a vaccination center than a café. I would NOT recommend this place for anyone.

I’m going to go slightly against the grain on this one. Hartford Square is small downtown eatery featuring New Mexican products(food/wine/beer/coffee) with a fresh and so clean vibe. The menu rotates weekly. The menu features seasonal menu items and is innovative. I ordered the Frittata w/Local Poblanos, Heirloom Tomatoes, Cheddar & Pepperjack(GF) 6.50 The frittata was good, portion size was medium, flavor was nice. My guest ordered the waffle. I thought it was on par with a Lego my Eggo. I wasn’t really«wow’d» by the food. The vibe is… I dunno… could be sparked up a bit, perhaps? Made a little bit more vibrant? Didn’t leave the place feeling really all that satisfied. I’m not in ABQ all that often and when I am there, I really look forward to having nice dining experiences. I looked again at the menu posted online and this week’s menu seems reasonable price wise. Maybe I missed something… I dunno. When it comes to breakfast in ABQ, I’m usually considering other choices. Check it out and you be the judge.

The peach sangria is AMAZING! My husband got the Pesto linguini and the flavor was very fresh and light. I had the tart and the watermelon cucumber salad which was delicious and fresh as well! Perfect for the summer heat. I would highly recommend checking out this place. I wish it stayed open later it would be a much more of a dinner option!

Friendly staff, super cute environment, comfortable outside seating, and delicious breakfast burrito! I subbed the greens for potatoes and I added bacon. The tomatillo salsa was so yummy, too. Everything in the case looked appetizing as well — frittatas, pasta salad, chicken salad, and other fun food items. I went two days in a row!

From the moment you walk in, to the delicious soups and the first sip of the amazing london fog! The people are super nice! Everyone has a smile and the food is delicious! Do yourself a favor and come and try their brunch, sandwiches, quiches, soups, desserts, etc. Location is nice, really close to the freeway and downtown. Fresh food. Beer and wine are served.

Locally grown and locally owned, Hartford Square offers a quaint, hip lunch spot in EDo. The calm atmosphere offered by the music and aesthetics made for a nice lunch and my meal was brought out within minutes, served fresh. My sandwich and salad had a unique, but pleasing taste. I will have to try the dessert next time! I hope people know about this place because outdoor signage was not readily visible. Having spots like this add to the coolness and quality of life factor that is always so important to Albuquerque.

This is exactly what the area needed… a neighborhood café!!! Great hours. They serve local coffee, tea, wine and beer. The menu is perfect and has several healthy options to choose from plus a sweet treat when needed which I highly recommend! Looking forward to becoming a regular here.

I came for coffee and ended up staying for lunch! Their menu changes weekly depending on their farm fresh produce, and the food on other people’s plates looked too darn good to pass up. I had an iced coffee, blueberry donut, and pesto chicken salad sandwich. The one negative was that the sandwich was a bit dry — it was lacking globs of mayo to tie all the ingredients together. But I’m sure my waistline will thank me. Overall, it was a very quaint atmosphere with friendly staff, and the always important: free wifi.

I meandered over to Hartford Square this morning for my favorite meal of the day: brunch. The first thing I noticed about this café is that it is not located at Broadway and Central, where it is shown on the Unilocal map. It’s a couple blocks down, on Broadway and MLK. I browsed the brief menu and selected the basic brunch: eggs, herbed toast with butter and jam, and rosemary potatoes. The other selections sounded delicious as well; I remember huevos rancheros and baked french toast, which someone else had ordered and looked like homemade toast stacked with layers of yogurt and peaches. mmm… but back to my breakfast. I ordered promptly with a just-helpful-enough cashier and headed a table. Brunch was served in a matter of minutes; in fact, I barely had time to grab a glass of water and set up the wifi. The flavors of this basic plate shone through, and it was obvious that the food is cooked with care and sourced locally and organically. The eggs, for example, were not oily and were so flavorful that they needed neither salt nor pepper. The toast was thick and rich with fragrant herbs; the butter was delightful and the jam bursting with flavor. The potatoes were tender and rounded out the plate nicely. The presentation was also pleasing to the eye. The staff are friendly and occasionally come around to the tables to ask if you need anything, and to clear plates. I will definitely be back to sample more brunch items and an espresso. I normally would grab a coffee with brunch, but this morning I had fallen victim to a giant mason jar full of iced coffee at the rail yards, so it was better to steer clear of more caffeine, at least for today.

So my niece is visiting and said her favorite place to eat in ST Paul is all about fresh, local and seasonal foods… so thanks to you UnilocalERS we found this gem we came after the lunch crowd and we were not disappointed. I order the tomato basil and corn soup with a half summer salad the soup was amazing bursting with fresh ripe tomato and the corn was super sweet My salad was equally impressive, fresh blueberries and apricots and just the right amount of burata cheese I love the dressing was on the side… my niece devoured her Hoummos sandwich. so I’m guessing it was good I am looking forward to returning!

Hartford Square is one of several locally-owned and operated cafes that have suddenly sprung up downtown over the past few months, and the place is absolutely welcome to unpack and stay for a while. I hate to admit this, but über-clean, fresh, bright and healthy eateries are pretty tough to find in the 505; the other day I found myself driving up Central, craving a salad, and I drove all the way to Nob Hill to find one. Places like the Grove and Vinaigrette really stand out in our metro by providing delicious, fresh alternatives to the ol’ burger and fries, and you can add Hartford Square to the list. Specializing in locally sourced ingredients, most of them organic, with an artisan flare for unusual soups and salads, if you want some smart flavors to pair with a tasty cup of iced coffee(lip smackin’ good) this is your spot. Breads are local, veggies, cheeses, you name it, and prices are fair. The menu — a chalkboard above the register — is completely rewritten each week, rotating to feature whatever is currently in season and available from nearby farms. You gotta love that approach. But what I really enjoy, aside from the comfortable outdoor patio, is just grabbing a seat at the counter where you can look over a complementary copy of the New York Times and glance up at the employees, who never stop moving, busy bees around the hive, baking and rolling and chopping and serving up everything with efficiency and a smile. For a break from everyday Albuquerque this is a great, modern space to spend an hour or two. Highly recommended.

This is exactly what we need more of in ABQ! Right out of the gate Hartford Square is bringing us the good stuff. The space has a great feel, the crew is helpful and gracious, and the cuisine offers something for everyone at a reasonable price. The menu here changes week to week so there will be something curious and new regularly. There were smiles and nods of approval from my fairly discriminating group of friends trying this venue for the first time. I asked them to add a piece of Bosque Baking Company toast to my delicious Lemon Spring Chicken Soup & they were quick to accommodate me. Loved the Banana Bread. Definitely some health inspired choices here if that’s important to you. It’s obvious these people enjoy bringing together memorable food in a nice casual environment. Sitting outside on the patio was perfect with the soothing water feature in the background. I don’t like to give up the coveted 5 stars that easy but I think Hartford Square deserves it. See ya there!
