We hadn’t eaten here in a long time, mostly because we don’t find ourselves eating(or drinking) downtown much these days. But the pizza was always delicious. A few weeks ago, we were at Tractor Brewing in Wells Park, and when my husband saw on their menu that JC’s NYPD delivered there, we decided to order some food. Since it was loud and noisy in Tractor, we decided to order the food through Unilocal(our first time using that feature) because it would be easier than trying to hear over the phone to place an order. I put in for a slice of pizza and my husband ordered a calzone. We then tried to place the order, and were notified there was a minimum charge of $ 15.00 for delivery, so we added a side salad. Then we were told there was a delivery charge. Okay, fine. So all in all, a slice of pizza, calzone, and a small side salad ended up costing us about $ 20.00. After I placed the order, I received an e-mail confirmation stating that the expected delivery time would be an hour. I just wish it would tell you the expected time before you placed the order instead of after, but it was fine, since we were going to be there for a while anyway. So the good news is that the order was delivered within the estimated timeframe. I had left my phone number when I placed the order and I assumed they would call me when they drove up so we could run out and pick it up. Instead, they brought it inside, but not knowing who we were or where we were sitting, they took it up to the bar, and then called me to let me know they were there(I had seen them come in but wasn’t 100% sure it was our order until they called). It was no biggie, but I would think it would be easier for them to have me run outside than to have them weave through a crowd of people to take it up to the bar. Anyway, my pizza was okay, but it was missing a topping, and it tasted like it had been sitting out for too long as it was less than luke warm. My husband’s calzone was hot enough, which makes me think that for mine, they took a slice of pizza that had already been sitting out for a while and added toppings to it without rewarming it, while the calzone was made fresh or at least more recently. Okay, so here’s the kicker: our order is delivered and paid for, we finish up our food and our evening and head home. This was on a Saturday night. The next night, Sunday, I get a call from JC’s a little before 9:00pm, except I’m in the shower so I don’t answer right away. When I get out, there’s a voicemail saying that they are at Tractor with our order, but can’t find us anywhere. Huh? I am confused to say the least, so I call them back as soon as I get the message(I didn’t want them to think I placed an order and bailed, but more importantly I didn’t want my card to end up being charged twice for something I ordered once), but there was no answer(they might have closed for the night by then), so I left a voicemail explaining that the reason we weren’t at Tractor was because we were there the night before, and while we did order food, we had received it and I wasn’t sure why they were attempting to deliver another order almost 24 hours later. I told them they were welcome to call me back if then had any other questions, but I guess they realized their mistake because they never called me back, and luckily, I didn’t notice a duplicate charge on my card. Still, I don’t think I’ll be ordering take out from them again. The next time I’m craving their pizza, I’ll pay the six bucks to park in the lot across the street and dine in.

Okay, guys, I can’t decide what it is about this pizza recipe that I just don’t jive that well with. Truthfully, I’ll eat it, because it’s pizza, but I don’t like it that much.

To really get your money’s worth out of this place I suggest splitting a whole pie with some folks. I went there today and instead of ordering at the counter I was instructed to sit down and wait for a wait staff person to come. I noticed a few tables get served that sat after me so I just ordered To Go from the counter. One single slice of green chile to go, it was good but not great. To experience great you want a fresh whole pie out of the oven, single slices are always reheated right? I’ve had a few of these whole pies and they’re delicious, thin, foldable, melt in your mouth type pies. So yeah, do that. I’m giving three stars because whatever system they had going on for waiting tables was not working at all.

I give a four star review for entire pies. I’ve seen a lot of bad reviews where people got slices. No matter where you go, ordering by the slice is sketchy… pies have been sitting there for a bit and then they are reheated. But if you order an entire pie(big, foldable slices), I’ve never been dissatisfied. I also pick mine up rather than wait on delivery, I’m not lazy but I am impatient, and it’s always ready in 15 – 20 minutes. I’ve had to wait once when they got busier than usual, which I wasn’t upset about. Because I could see that they were busy and doing the best they could, which was great.

This place was absolutely awful. Wether it be the wait staff or the actual food, it was all terrible. The place was slow when we first got there and about 10 minutes later they got super busy and it appeared there was only one person waiting on the entire store. We ordered garlic cheese bread and a few slices of pizza. The cheese bread was delicious and the cook brought it right to our table. Which was quite nice. After patiently waiting on our food, both our slices came out cold and tasted like crap. I was very disappointed with the overall service of this facility.

Hit or miss. Today was definitely a miss. Went for lunch around 1:30, only one other table occupied. Waited a long time to have order taken. Went for the 2 slice and soda special. No joke, it was a half hour later before it arrived(by then I was watching the clock). And, it wasn’t even fresh. It had probably been sitting for an hour, which makes it difficult to understand why it took so long to make it the 20 feet to our table. Dough not very good, spices okay, cheese congealed. For that amount of time and the same amount of money could have gotten a whole cheese pie baked fresh in a wood oven at Firenze. Next time I’ll walk the extra blocks for that.

Pizza hits the spot, especially late night. Friendly staff. We ordered a pie(as opposed to slices) and it was served fresh and hot in a short amount of time. I’ve been here many times and I will be back, if that helps. They also deliver to Marble Brewery which seals the deal.

DON’T JUSTAVOIDTHISRESTAURANT — SPEEDBYITWHENPASSINGTHROUGHLASVEGAS! The waitresses were good, but paid an exorbitant price for something that only vaguely resembled a pizza. I’m familiar with New York-style pizzas, but this one was only crust and a little sauce. There was so little cheese and garlic on it that we could taste nothing but crust. When bringing this to the waitresses attention, she asked the cook whom she said was in a bad mood, and disagreed with us. Any reputable establishment would have offered to cancel the ticket, or at least get us a decent pizza. They offered neither.

After years of loyalty to NYPD. I have given up. The service has become deplorable. It has steadily declined but today after the Holms parade we tried again. We arrived to many empty dirty tables inside were told very rudely to go outside. The woman was so extremely rude it was embarrassing. We were finally told by her to «sit if we wanted, and wait for a table to be cleaned.» We gathered the plates and mess into a pile at the end of the table. Then we sat waited 20 minutes. No service came. The woman pointed to our table twice and walked away. So we did too. This is very sad as we have spent many enjoyable evenings at NYPD. I doubt that any of us will ever be back.

A lot of people have given this place negative reviews, I don’t know why! The service was great, the food came out hot and quick! If I was being picky, the pizza could have been a little bit crispier on the bottom, and somehow make it a tad less greasy. But other than that, it was a good quick family dinner! Keep in mind, I’m from California and gave the pizza a 7⁄10. Whereas my dad gave it a 5⁄10 because he is from NY. If you’re expecting NY authentic pizza, probably going to leave disappointed! Give it a shot. :)

Went in for dinner the other evening, the service was good but the food was just ho hum ! My husbands meatball sandwich had hardly any meatballs and my chicken Parmesan sandwich tasted burnt and gross! The salad was ok! We were highly disappointed as we had heard the food was excellent !!!

Disclaimer: I’m from NY and have very high standards for pizza. That said, this does not live up to my standards for NY pizza. The pie came out extremely greasy with puddles of oil on the top. I would not say that the quality of the ingredients is very high. And the service was just bizarre, I can’t even truly explain it. We had to ask for menus multiple times and then the server came back with one menu for 4 people. I don’t see the reason for that, surely they possess multiple menus. Then we had to ask for utensils. I mean these things should just be standard.

The crust here is outstanding even compared to the best in New York. The waiter told me they use a special filtration process for the water just like New York. The sausage is local and unbelievable. Every meat on the Upstate I had was perfect. I will go back anytime I can.

The pizza here is very good. I only tried the thin crust not sure if they have any other kind. The prices are cheap and the pizza is good. There is also tons of seating inside and outside.

The pizza here is great but a bit expensive. Only complaint i have is the staff are not friendly at all. If you decide to sit outside, good luck maintaing patientce on the server to go take your drink order.

Went there last week and waited almost 10 minutes to be acknowledged by staff. A friend and I each ordered a beer. Friend got his beer but I never received mine. Never got refills on water. When we went up to the register to ask if we could get our check and a water refill we were ignored by staff.

I called in for delivery and after about 20 seconds of ringing someone picked up and asked me to hold. «They must be busy,» I thought. After 4 minutes on hold my friends suggested that I walk over and place my order. I was helping a friend move so I didn’t want to take time away from helping them unpack, but I was also only a block away so it wouldn’t have been that big of a deal to walk over either. During my walk I was still on hold. By the time I walked up to the counter I was still on hold. The phone read 7 minutes and 42 seconds before I hung up on them while standing at the counter. This was on a Tuesday evening and they were almost dead inside, definitely not busy enough to warrant being placed on hold for so long. After I hung up the guy at the counter apologized for the wait and wondered where the server was. After I had placed my order and was waiting to sign the credit card slip, the server whose job it was to take my order in the first place 9 minutes ago ambles up to the register and offers to take my order. The pizza was decent quality but the customer service was severely lacking. If they can be this inattentive on a very slow Tuesday evening, I can only wonder what their service is like when they’re slammed on a weekend evening.

I should have followed the advice of other reviewers. Instead, I was slightly disappointed. I think there is a time and place for a restaurant like this… like when you are out late partying and need to grab a bite before bed. The food was relatively cheap, it’s location is convenient for anyone hanging around downtown, and the interior is what you would expect for a small pizza joint. Otherwise, I was not impressed. I ordered two slices of pizza and I expected them to be brought out within minutes, but were brought to me in about 20 minutes. The pizza tasted okay, but the pepperonis were kind of rubbery. My cucumber salad was super cheap and tasted similarly. I will say, the homemade lemonade was really tasty, although, it could have been cut in half with water. There was a couple sitting outside that came back in and asked if they had been forgotten about. Not a good sign!

Food: My friends and I came here to eating dinner before our marathon the next day. I didn’t order a pizza because my body doesn’t really like pizza the day before a marathon. So I ordered the hot Italian Roast Beef Sandwich and a lemonade. The sandwich was actually pretty good. It was full of flavor and I sort of wished that it was a little bit bigger. It came with a small salad. Service: Service was decent. The place wasn’t very crowded so we had enough attention from our server. He was able to split up the check for all of us. Location: This pizza place was located in a pretty busy part of downtown Albuquerque on Central Avenue. There were plenty of people walking around or cruising around in their cars in this part of town. The restaurant itself showed some age. The booths were a bit on the grimy side, but hey as long as the food is good and I don’t get sick, I’m okay with it.

I liked their sausage and onion sub, it was very well balanced and the dipping sauce was amazing. We dined here on a Friday night and even though the restaurant was busy but the service was excellent and we did not have to wait for a long time. The waitress was friendly and the pizza was good too. They have a nice little patio outside that you can sit and look out onto central and I’m telling you, interesting things happen on central. Will come back again for sure.

Pretty decent pizza for the West, but not exactly New York. While it may be true that the most famous trait of a New York pizza is a thin crust, and the crust at JC’s was thin, there is also a consistency trait which needs to be right. I am no chef, so I speak in the way I perceive the crusts, but JC’s crust is far more«spongy» than the NY pies I am used to getting. NYC Pizza, even though thin, can be folded and still have the firmness to be held out straight without falling down. I gave this test to JC’s and found that it would not maintain it’s straightness until I removed some of the weight in the front(read: took a few bites). It wasn’t an issue of how well the pizza was cooked as the JC pizza was nicely browned on the bottom, but rather the consistency and spongy nature of the JC dough. The other place where the NY pizza comparison doesn’t hold is in the quantity of ingredients. In Manhattan, where the cost of living is considerably higher than out in ABQ, it seems that pizza joints trim down the sauce, cheese and topping amounts on each pie just a little to save dough(pun intended). My JC pizza had about twice the cheese I would have seen on my NYC pizza. I am not saying this is a bad thing, only that it is different. I ended up at JC’s mostly because they were in walkable distance from my hotel, and I wanted something to munch on during the Game of Thrones première. I called for pickup and told them I wanted it out of the oven at 8:45, and they were right on time. I ordered a Sausage, Green Pepper and Fresh Garlic pie which was pretty tasty, but very large. They only offer 18″ pies here which is fine for couples or for 3 people, but for me eating alone it was too much. I had to save some for later and my belly did not appreciate 2 pizza meals in a row. I have seen some NYC pizzerias do this too, but generally they offer ½ pizzas as well as long as you order something basic(no anchovies). The customer base is much smaller out here though so I am not sure that would work, but it might be a good idea for JC’s to offer some sort of personal pizza, or a 12″. Overall, I was satisfied and would go back if in the area, but calling it NYC pizza just because it is thin is a bit of a stretch.
