RED chile on a cheeseburger — WHAAAAT?! BLASPHEMY! Ok fellow Nuevo Mexicanos, hear me out, it’s time to take a deep breath and step away from the green. I was skeptical too — but then I remember how my grandma taught me to cook enchiladas: green chile goes with chicken, red chile goes with beef, anything else is not an enchilada. They were meant to be together! Red chile and beef are a power couple, marrying them in a burger just makes sense. And Red’s doesn’t just serve any old burger. They take FRESH beef and perfectly season it before it goes on the grill and then smoother it with the red stuff. And no, this isn’t turn your sinuses into volcanic ash kind of chile. It’s actually flavorful chile that doesn’t have to hide behind capsaicin because it has more to offer than pain. Red’s also offers the kind of mom and pop service that simply doesn’t exist anymore. The owner chatted nicely with while he was ringing us up and even gave the kids a free Pepsi. It’s always pretty neat when owners welcome kids to the restaurant — and this place is right next to Explora and the Natural History Museum so it’s a great spot to take the little devils after you’ve filled their brains with science. You can’t miss it!

It’s a really good burger and decent fries. Their red chile burger is awesome, you’ve got to try that at least once in your life. Wear a dark shirt. They’re prices have really gone up which hurts their rating. I mean, it’s good, but is it $ 15 good? I can think of a lot of places in Albuquerque I’d rather eat instead of blowing that much on burgers and fries.

Well, I think today will be my last visit. My burger was too small(¼ lbs… I doubt it) and the bun was too dry. My kids ordered the taco burgers and the meat inside were small quarter sized bits of meat. The fries were bland, and some were just old and stale. For $ 26.00 total I think we’ll go to Bob’s or somewhere else.

Because red vs green is such a subjective thing, this review is really based on my personal taste. The Red: Had the red chile cheese fries. Not a big fan. The fries are typical reconstituted taters smothered in red, which tasted too much like enchilada sauce for my liking. The taco burgers with red were good, with the corn tortilla adding a nice layer of taste to the hamburger. The Green: So, if you’ve ever been to In-n-Out Burger, imagine a double-double with green chile. This was the perfect blend of meat, cheese, onion, etc, and a milder green chile that made the whole thing come together. We’ll be back, but we’ll just order the ½ pound Green Chile Cheeseburger and call it good.

When I visited alberquerque a few years back, I had a craving for red chili. My cousin to me to that spot. It is off the hook. Food is awesome, service is impeccable. It’s a mom and pop place so give them a break if you go and they are not open.

No sir, I don’t like it. I honestly do not understand what all the hype is over this place. They serve just plain old burgers with bland chile. I ate here a few months back after reading all the reviews on Unilocal. This is one of the rare occasions where Unilocal has steered me wrong. I’ve noticed that in most those cases it usually involves the question of what is «good NM food.» And this place is not good NM food to seasoned NM food tastebuds. I had a burger with fries and a drink. The little old lady at the counter was kind of sweet and kept on saying«satisfaction guaranteed.» But that was about the only cool part about this place. When the food came, I was instantly disappointed. It was really tasteless and bland. I found myself having to spruce it up myself with salt and condiments. Not worth the price. I normally would have given an average place an average rating but let’s talk about the service. The waitress was extremely unprofessional. It was close to closing time and she was going out of her way to shoe off customers. She stomped across the restaurant to tell some customers that just walked in the door that the sign said closed. She then locked the door. More customers were walking up to the restaurant and she stormed out to the parking lot to tell them they were closed. Wouldn’t you as a business owner welcome more business? The little red hamburger hut is not that great. I don’t recommend this place to anyone especially anyone who is a fan of good NM chile. Add some spices and get better waitstaff.

I pigged tf out here on a tasty, juicy burger. Just go full glutton and get the chile cheese fries, trust me.

Little Red Hamburger Hut(hereafter, «LRHH») is a charming place. To be clear, it’s a small, unassuming dive in a quiet neighborhood north of the courthouses — it doesn’t try to lure you in with pomp. LRHH is the sort of joint that, had you never set foot in it before, you’d still assume that it was a local institution with a loyal following. I’m not sure if it is, but it has that feel. I’ll try to focus on what matters now. The draw here is clearly the«little red» burger, which comes in various sizes. It’s a flattop cooked burger, that comes in various sizes, and most importantly is doused in a red chili sauce. Said sauce is a blended, thick purée of smokey red chili. I’d call it medium heat unless consumed in massive quantities. In other words, this is not a chili cheeseburger in the sense of a beef patty with a strip of seared chili, skin-on. The burger includes lettuce and american cheese and is nestled in an unseeded, pedestrian, but somehow suitable bun. The combo comes with fries that are diner-esque in character: 1⁄3 lovely crispy, 1⁄3 on the thick and mushy side, and 1⁄3 in between. Served in a basket and with a fountain drink, most will leave with a sub-$ 10 tab. The remainder of the menu includes green chili burgers, hot dogs, and non-chili burgers. LRHH also offers«taco burgers,» whatever those are. The remainder of the menu warrants about the two lines that i gave them here. The décor of LRHH includes small tables, self-serve ketchup/mustard/condiments, steel walls, a soda fountain that averages 75% functionality, and an old gumball machine. There are random posters on the walls, none of which really have anything to do with the restaurant. LRHH offers a tasty, if not basic burger/fries/beverage for under $ 10. The staff takes a great deal of pride in their simple, tried and true menu, as evinced by their mention of «satisfaction guaranteed» during every order. Literally every one. I suspect that, should you complain, they’ll try again to make it right. You won’t complain, however, if your expectation is measured to what LRHH is: a modest, quaint, comfort food joint that provides better-than-fast-food burger combos with a touch of New Mexican heat. It’s worth grabbing on a slow day, a low day, or a any day where you want a livelier burger than the drive-thru alternative. But it doesn’t quite rise to a destination where you take out of town guests.

I love this place. IF and when I find it open. We’ve been a handful of times now that they were supposed to be open but weren’t. And when you’re all ready for some crunchy red chile taco burgers or yummy chile fries, it really bums you out to find out they couldn’t be bothered to uphold their regular hours. Having said that, the place is just precious, the people are kind and the food is really, REALLY good! We’ll keep trying.

I have no idea what the hell all the hype is about this place. Well, Ok,… I guess if you are into authentic RED chile and will endure anything to have it, then this is your place. The atmosphere is like eating in a tree house and the service is less than desirable. Maybe get it to go???

May not look like much from the outside but awesome food! Burgers are made with the freshest of ingredients. Red chili is to die for. Staff is customer focused and very accommodating to special requests. By far the best burger in the Albuquerque area.

Hubby, granddaughter, and I have tried more than once to eat at this place, since it was so glowingly reviewed recently. We were disappointed, and all the way home to Rio Rancho, we kept seeing places that would have been better. Hubby and g/d ordered hamburgers, I ordered a foot-long hot dog and wanted chili on it. It was not to be. This place doesn’t «do» chili-dogs like I wanted. All they offer in the way of chili is green and/or red chile — no Texas-style chili to be had. Boooo. And the«foot-long» hot dog was two — 2! — regular hot dogs in buns with some sort of melted cheese and mustard. No relish available. Hubby and g/d said that the hamburgers were dry – not juicy like a great hamburger should be. The fries are obviously the frozen variety, whereby an order is plopped into a deep fryer and served hot. I was NOT impressed, the staff may be «hard-working, patient, and exceptionally friendly», and the«satisfaction guaranteed» spout came out of the server’s mouth when Hubby picked up our dinner. For near $ 24.00, this place doesn’t deliver what it promises. We won’t be back.

Came here last night after a good time at Explora and thought we would splurge and eat a burger here. Red burger was good, but if I’m going to splurge it better be worth it and to me it wasn’t. Definitely would go to other burger joints before this one next time. Oh, and a large order of fries is something like $ 4.89?! Place: clean. Food: good. Menu: overpriced.

Was craving a Hamburger the other day and I was driving down Mountain and saw this little gem. We stopped in and were pleasantly surprised. I love Tacos. They had Taco Burgers so I was sold from the second I saw the menu. I ordered one with Red Chile and the other Green. Had to get the side of Chili Cheese fries added fresh onion. The staff was nice and friendly. The food was AMAZING. So tasty and delicious. They have seating inside and a patio out front. Must try for something new and to support local business.

Abq, Local, N.M. Shop and Staff This has a great indoor seating area, and has an okay outdoor seating area. The restaurant was very clean, and I would expect it to be for I saw a person making sure all the tables, chairs, and floors were of high standards. The décor was of an old classic style. It has hand panted signs on the wall like«order at the counter» and«pickup window». The staff made sure to tell you«satisfaction guaranteed» once you placed your order, and once you picked up your order. I feel this is going beyond what you would expect to hear at a large chain restaurant, however it is never said at such place. I like that they make sure you are satisfied. I see nothing wrong with this. Every person working was in uniform, and looked very clean, also they all had smiles, and were very polite. Food and Experience The highlight of my meal was the chile cheese fries. The hamburger was good, but I would agree with another review that my burger was well cooked, and flavorless. On the bright side the CCFF were great! The red chile was not spicy, and overall I enjoyed the outcome of my CCFF. I would stress to everyone to get the chile cheese fries, and instead of the burger maybe get the red chile hotdog. I would choose this restaurant over any large chain fast food restaurant on any given day. I will go back, and try the red chile hotdog myself one day.

Decided to finally give this place a try as we have driven by at least 50 times and would say, «I wonder if this place is good» so what the hell we gave it a try. We were immediately greeted by a very friendly woman who I believe is married to the owner, she mentioned about all the fresh ingredients they utilize and how everything is fresh and prepared«Always» I was eager to try this burger and let’s just say this was a match made in heaven! I definitely think the burger reminds me of another big burger friend in town name Blake but I dont want to take away from the energy and passion they put out of this place. They are priced a little bit above some of the other burger joints who are in comparison with them(Blake’s, Rex’s) but the cute ambiance and stellar service allows this to be okay with me. This burger is fresh and made with alot of love and if you love supporting small LOCAL who need more love than some of the big burger joints in town than give this burger place a try for pete’s sake.

Normally I’m a huge fan of the ‘local greasy spoon’ genre but this place was dirty at 2:30 in the afternoon. I was customer number two in the building yet every table had crumbs and some had actual food left on them. The staff was friendly enough until I asked for ketchup — both of the dispensers were completely empty — then I was the non-plussed recipient of an eye roll and a casually tossed«In a minute» as she made get way to the back. I went back again, just to make sure I wasn’t being unfair, but the food is average, the price is above average, the environment is below average and the staff is average. Overall in my opinion there are MANY other local places to spend your money.

We were in the neighborhood, saw this place, checked Unilocal and decided to try it. Service was ok, lady taking order didn’t hear very well, she asked me «what?!» twice. Burgers were good, kind of like homemade, so $ 11 for combo was a bit much. Fries were hot, which I like! Green chile had a little heat, but the red did not. Probably wouldn’t recommend to a friend.

Newly remodeled and fantastic service!!! Ordered the taco burger combo and they were delicious. Red chile on the side and of course cheese plus the works. Fries were hot and fresh and soda was full of syrup just the way I like it. All the employees were friendly and continued to share their slogan«satisfaction guaranteed!» We were very pleased with today’s lunch and will be back!

The staff is super nice. And we wanted to support a locally owned hamburger joint instead of a chain. But the«chili» is merely red enchilada sauce with chunks of beef. I think New Mexico likes chilis, and thats awesome, so do I. But on a roadtrip, $ 11 for a hamburger combo is a bit much… Especially when its not craft, local, or even that large of a patty. They seem to be a successful restaurant and I’m happy for them, but i didnt see what all the fuss was about.

I finally got to go here, they were open and had food. Shocker! Their food was good, I just didn’t see what all the fuss was about. Their food needed salt and their red chile wasn’t hot. One thing I did love was their green chile! Decent food but not really worth the price.
