Some of the worst service(not even sure if I would call it that) that I have received from any local brewery or taphouse. Ordered a round of beers and nobody, not even once, came to see how we were doing. After waiting we decided we didn’t want to wait any longer… Another 20 minutes for the bartender to run my card. Sadly I went home with my growler empty.

Customer service is great here. Great environment. Only thing is they need wifi here. Good grains they use in their beers. Also, don’t trust Unilocal, they filter reviews and are not trustworthy.

Not so much… I met a few girlfriends here for a happy hour. When we walked in the lights were dimmed and the movie was loud. It felt like we walked in on grandpa’s afternoon movie binge. We sat down to give it a chance and four samples later we threw in the towel. I’m thinking his place is great if you are a regular. Your sci-fi movie of choice can be requested along with a beer. This won’t be on my list of places to go. Sorry!

Seriously odd/bad ambiance, but seriously good beer and really nice staff(and I’m from Denver so the comparative factor is high). Sure it is is the strip mall next to Dirty Bourbon(always so classy) so it is a surprise that the beer is that good. Some of the beers are different than I would expect(I think it was a blonde that was hoppy and an IPA not hoppy– the opposite of what I would expect). The browns, porters, and stouts are good. I recommend doing a flight or two to try some of their different types. For ambiance, Maybe a brick wall/fake stone, probably different furniture, maybe do a concrete painted floor. I don’t know, it just doesn’t give off the vibe of let’s-hang-out and drink some beers. It feels more like, let me sit in my Grandma’s kitchen and Grandma has gotten good at brewing. On a final positive note, they allow dogs. Yay.

Love this place even though I dont get over there that often. They have added several local wines to their list so maybe I can get my wife to stop in. Looking forward to trying Jazz on Wednesday that they added. There brew selection is excellent. Give the stout a try.

There is a lot of competition in Albuquerque when it comes to breweries and I think Lizard Tail is bottom of the barrel here. It doesn’t earn many points for either the beer or the service. The bartenders were not knowledgable or, if they were, they did not go out of their way to offer information. I have the expectation that a bartender at any brewery have at least a basic knowledge about each beer. That was unfortunately not the case here. Aside from the service, the ambiance is nothing to brag about. It’s a dive bar, which is fine, but it lacks any personality. I just wouldn’t go out of my way to visit Lizard Tail.

I finally got around to trying Lizard Tail and it was a total shocker coming from a place that was probably the worst brewery to come to NM(Bad Ass Brewery). I will first off start off by saying if your coming here to enjoy the scenery then this place isn’t for you as it reminds me of an old smelly basement turned into a man cave. But the beer. is excellent they offer quite a variety and every beerI tried was great. They offer 3 IPAs all which were great I also enjoyed their biscochito brown as well as the Abbey. I wish this place had a better venue that had music and a patio hopefully one day they move into a better location.

One last brewery for the in-laws before they departed ABQ!!! We decided to try out Lizard Tail since(a) my wife and I hadn’t been here before and(b) it sounded good. The place was a bit small but had a pretty huge selection. Especially for such a small place. I peaked into the open door of a/the brewery and it looked pretty small. Maybe they do a lot of small batches? Either way, the large selection was backed up by pretty good quality. The double IPA was their strongest showing in my opinion. Lots of hop flavor and good balance. The black IPA was good but too roasty. There seems to be a divide as to whether a black IPA should be a hoppy porter/stout or a black-colored-but-otherwise-normal-IPA. Lizard Tail was clearly on the hoppy stout side but forgot the hoppy part.(Again, this wasn’t bad at all, but didn’t taste very IPA-like). I really liked the selection of Belgium beers(something ABQs otherwise-amazing beer scene lacks at times) and the ones we tried ranged from good-but-sweet(trippel) to «hmmm, I don’t really recognize a style in this»(the Abbey). Overall still a good experience. And we’ll certainly be back to try more of their interesting selection.

Great local neighborhood brewery for those in the NE Heights. Why grab a 6 pack when you can fill a growler with fresh local beer. So far my favorites are the India black and the Reptilian IPA which stands toe to toe with any of ‘Burque’s fine IPA’s. Staff are good people who like to talk about beer. Haven’t seen much rotation in the taps yet but I’ve only been a patron for about 6 weeks. Interior design seems to be coming together with art by local artists displayed.

Lizard tail never disappoints. All of their beers are original and amazing. My husband and I and our friends have made this place our regular hangout because of their great beer, laid back atmosphere, and friendly and professional staff. They have different events throughout the week from comedy nights and open mic music to geeks who drink which gives you a choice of the atmosphere you want to enjoy. If you are in the market for a laid back brewery with great beer who don’t take themselves too seriously(like many other breweries in town), then lizard tail is the place to be.

Nice selection and pleasant staff. We tried a flight where you get to pick 4 and were given good recommendations based on what we said we liked. We will go again.

Atmosphere was nice. A decent array of seating choices and a comfortable vibe. Waitress was very welcoming and friendly. There was very decent live music on a Friday. Beer was very disappointing. Everything tasted way too malty, thin and sour. The IPA alone was passably drinkable. I wanted to like these beers but had a hard time finishing my sampler.

Saw that they had a Biscochito Brown ale so I had to come. We had several samplers that were very good. We didnt have a ton of time to drink, but we really enjoyed what we had. They offered many snacks for us while we were drinking, and the samplers were cheap, which makes me happy! I will certainly be back !

I’ve been happy every time I’ve visited lizard tail. I’m sad there is no food, but there are plenty nearby choices that it doesn’t matter much. They let you bring food in, so that’s totally cool. The place before was a total dive, this is divey too, but they have cleaned up so it is nicer than when it was«B.A.B.» Their beer is delicious and they have a wide variety of it. Thank goodness for the microbrew movement in Albuquerque. This place is pretty darn good.

One of the newest additions to the ABQ beer scene. And a worthy addition. These guys do small batches — about 20 gallons at a time. So, their beer turns over fairly often, which is cool. But their standbys are pretty good too. Okay, they have a little ways to go before they match some of the other locals… Get a sampler and give them a try. The black IPA has a nice hoppiness balanced with impressive malts. The IPA may need a slight overhaul of hop varieties, but has a nice bitterness. The oatmeal stout is creamy and rich. And the honey blonde has a distinct honey flavor which was quite nice. Staff is nice, especially the owner and brewer. The brew setup is small, but they are happy to talk beer and brewing with anyone. Fun guys. They just started their mug club, which gets you a free pint glass and a discount on all beers. Give these guys some support so we can keep some good craft beer on the east side!

It’s so wonderful how we are becoming a real brewer’s town. You never know what you will get when a new place opens up. In this case, it’s a really nice little neighborhood bar atmosphere with good beer and decent snacky foods, generally nice staff and a cozy feeling of welcome. Their beer is good — not top of the city Marble-quality or anything, but really nice, drinkable stuff for a beer snob like me. The Biscochito Brown is lovely, and goes down smooth and easy. Doesn’t really taste like biscochitos, but that works for me as I’m not a huge fan…(Sorry, but it’s true.) They have a nice drinking bar — you can hang out and have a good time with friends and feel comfy.(Perhaps too comfy…) They also have bar height tables as well as regular tables — these kinds of things are important to me, I like a variety of seating choices, and this place delivers. They are very casual and laid back, the wait staff pay attention and keep you in the suds. You feel at home there right away, and you want to stay for the beer and the good times. Two thumbs up — give it a try, you will like it!!!

I went on a Tuesday for Geeks Who Drink trivia night. Location wise, it’s easy to miss! It’s tucked away in a shopping center, between The Dirty Bourbon and Pelicans on the corner of Eubank and Montgomery. But that’s exactly why Unilocal is great: to help small businesses with not-so-great locations actually be found! There are a couple of tables, 2 or 3 TVs, and seating at the bar. They had a good assortment of beers on tap and your standard bar food selection. I had the Biscochito Brown, a stout, and the Rye Porter, all of which were tasty but not mind-blowingly delicious. Pints were $ 4 to $ 5 each. I definitely got the impression that they have a regular clientele of people who live in the neighborhood and come by after work to hang out or to watch a game. There is also happy hour until 6PM. Overall it was an A-OK spot. Brewery wise I think they have stiff competition in terms of ambiance and beer quality, but if you live in the NE Heights, this is a solid choice for a chill night and some brewskis.

Biscochito Brown. Sound like a beer you might wanna try? It shines. Not heavy on sweetness, it kinda rocks, you can actually taste the anise and of couple pints-a lil’ heavy on the AVB scale-deliver you into the arms of the New Mexico you love: piñón wood outdoor fire pits, wide open spaces, home. Honestly, it’s hard to identify a brew that’s more New Mexican than this one. For the uninitiated, the Biscochito is our state cookie, borne in Taos, now reinvented in the glass. Bravo! I enjoyed a tasting at this new ABQ brewhouse, and my compadre’s favorites were virtually the opposite of my own top five. That’s a good thing. While I thought the IPA offered a refreshing take on the everyday hop varietal, my wingman wasn’t impressed. Whatever. The truth told(ask to speak with the brewers) is that they’re just babies, man. This thing is just beginning to lift off the ground; some of the pours struck gold, others were true experiments. Here’s a big truth: the northeast heights are in serious need of great beer, and this place is delivering. No food, but you’re in a strip mall with plenty of options(May Hong, around the corner, is solid). Dark environs, they need to develop the concept a little more. If this is indeed a neighborhood hideout/pub, it should offer more of a pub-like feel. At the moment it’s kinda sparse and distant, empty. But give ‘em time. If I lived in this ‘hood, I’d buy a growler. #biscochitopower

Call ahead to make sure Natelia is working, and ask the manager when her shift is over so you will not have to waste your time driving to Lizard Tail. The workers are lazy and fail to multitask. There seems to be only one outstanding employee working here, and her name is Natelia. She earns two stars for this place for her quick and sharp service. She knows her alcohol. Ask her. Not considering Natelia – Lizard Tail loses a star for poor customer service. You are not greeted. The attention is low. I informed the manager on duty about this, and he did not tell me how he plans on fixing this, and how the improvements will make this place better. First, an apology is in order. Then, a reassurance that the bad business is unlikely to ever happen again. Next, tell me how you plan to improve the service. Lastly, offer another apology. You may add anything else you think that will help the situation. Note to the owner: Lizard Tail needs better lighting. When all of the blinds are closed, the room is too dark upon entry. Consult a lighting expert about how to make your atmosphere a better transition to walk into at various times of the day. When this is fixed, this place can earn another star. Note to that manager on duty: for now, get your tail out from between your legs and put your thinking cap on. If the brewery is full, try not to take breaks if you can help it. Lead by example, so if you are not helpful, then the staff will have a harder time being helpful. As far as your customers: klill them with kindness. Serve them like they were your best friends. If you’re feeling negative, remember that Lizard Tail is not the only brewery in town, so be thankful you have business. Show that thankfulness with a happy face. All this will earn this brewery two more stars.

Remodeled, revamped and renewed. The old brewery is gone and this new kid seems to have taken ahold of the heights. The old middle school cafeteria seats have been updated, yeah. Now you get to sit on stools like an adult, lol. Seriously tho, there was some coin thrown at the décor which was a major improvement but the biggest change actually came from the beer. On to the beer! Oatmeal Brown– different but good. Had many a Oatmeal Stout but can not remember an Oatmeal Brown. On that note it almost tasted like a fusion. India Black– like, not love, IPA’s but this was very enjoyable. Nice hops with the dark color German Blonde– very good. Nice and light. Almost lager-like Honey Pale– very good. Amber color, good hop but not overpowering or bitter All samples were cold and well carbonated(good lacing). Perhaps my allergies but none of the samples had any«nose» whatsoever. Did not see the food menu so cannot comment on that. Very good job lizard ! Keep up the good brews.
