Ordered the burger special with green chili and avocado. I mentioned that my burger had little to no avocado. The young man argued with me saying he could«see» avocado under tomato. I lifted tomato to find the smallest amount. I complained to no avail. The green chili had no kick. The fries had a frozen taste too. A sad experience, compared to past visits. Thanks for reading. Sorry I don’t get the rave reviews. I know everyone has different tastes but it didn’t do it for me. The burger was OK but it came out with everything on it that I asked not to have. I tied the weird jalapeño fries and it didn’t go over well in my mouth. Sorry not the place for me but maybe I did it wrong. I’d go back if a friend wanted me to(and they paid for it) but I have other places to spend my cash on.

Pretty great burger joint. I had a to go order and it took about 10 minutes to get. I had the green chili cheeseburger basket. Amazing green chili! It’s not hot, so you get all the green chili flavor without burning your face off. They grill the green chilis too, which adds to the flavor. The fries are average fries, but definitely a good side to the amazing burger. Not too expensive and you get full. Highly recommended.

I wanted to see what the rants and raves about was about this place. So I gave it a try… I ordered the papa cheeseburger basket with avocados and an egg. The French fries were cold upon arrival. And had not one pinch of salt. The bun on my burger was so soggy that I had to take it off and basically eat the patty after I drowned it in ketchup. I got my food too go so I couldn’t do anything about it. but what the heck it was only $ 10 I wouldn’t eat here if I was starving and bit was free… Waste of calories

Burgers always good if you have to wash your hands afterwards and I had to wash twice! Friendly staff old school games and big onion rings! Not just batter but large onions are used here. It’s always clean and fresh, let’s support our local eateries

Sooo good! I tried this place for the first time and was amazed. This place gives another NM burger joint(Lota…) a run for its money. Their green chile avocado cheeseburger and homemade onion rings were YUM! I only wish there was a location closer to home.

Great service! Yummeh tacos & chicken burgers is what we enjoyed today. If ever I pass thru this side of town, I’ll bring my hubby.

I have had both the burger and hotdogs. They, are really good but… This place closes at 7:00pm . Five stars for the food. One star for the hours. They have a Unilocal sticker in their window, but must not read or care about reviews.

In the mood for a relatively fast and cheap burger I decided to partake in the Papaburger. Too bad they don’t have a drive through. Heading in you’ll be greeted with that unmistakable aroma of a flat grill burger. The place is a little divey, but we’ve all been in a whole lot worse. Showing up right at noon you’ll probably have to wait a couple minutes to put in your order, fortunately the service is fast and friendly, as it should be at a locally owned joint that has everything needed to become an Albuquerque staple. It’s what you should expect from a fast food burger… juicy, tasty, and made to order. All the toppings appear to be fresh. As everyone else has said… the slab o’ green chili is a great touch. I’ve heard the fried peas are good, I opted for fries. I should have tried the peas, once you’ve had one frozen french fry… you’ve had ‘em all.

The Chiara is hands down the BESTBURGERINALBUQUERQUE. A slab of green chili topped with swiss cheese and onions cooked into the patty! It’s crazy tasty and I eat here more than any other place.

Come and get it — it’s going fast… Been eating at Papa Burgers for years, and there are a few things that need to be understood: Its not cheap, but it is good. That said, you really need to visit, while there is still time. Remember Lotaburger when they wrote your order on a paper bag, and figured the total on a calculator? Papa burger had a pretty good formula(for years). I’m sure they have lots of great food, but I have always gone for the green chile cheeseburgers. My testing partner and I have watched the prices go up and up, and now two people ordering a GCC, fries and a coke is up to $ 20.00. High school kids can’t afford those prices, so the place is mostly frequented by adults. Been that way for a while. Recently, Papa burger has gone all-electronic. You know, a cashier with a terminal that tells the kitchen what to do. I suppose that is fine, but two things happened on Saturday that pissed me off. I don’t know if it was the kids idea, or if the dumb terminal told him to, but he made two attempts to «up-sell» us. We both ordered the same thing, with one exception. I ordered without mustard, substitute mayo. Call me old fashioned, but mustard is for hot dogs. In a way, lets face it, «old fashioned» is why the doors are still open. They blew it – one came fine, the other came with no mustard or mayo. They weren’t sure which was which… Quite an embarrassment to be pawing through the food and then exchange baskets. The burgers were fine. The«point-of-sale» changes could have been tolerated if it wasn’t part of an attempt to turn a 10 dollar burger into an 11 dollar one, and if it had arrived right. MBAs have gotten hold of this place, and it won’t be long before they have wrung-out all the value, and the doors close for good.

My papa never made burgers this good! This place is a hidden gem in the north valley. I’ve been here a few times and the burgers are soooo good. The chips are pretty impressive too. The staff is really nice and the business is family owned. The owner makes his rounds and makes sure everyone is enjoying their food and having a good experience. This is a great lunch spot and the tv’s always have something interesting on. They have an impressive arcade too! Bring the kids and have a fantastic time.

As tourists in Albuquerque staying in this northwest area of town, we tried Papaburgers as a place to please two vegetarians and two meat eaters. As the name suggests, Papapburgers serves mainly burgers but they also have a really nice grilled cheese that comes with a roasted green chili. We got this with sweet potato fries and regular fries, and everything was yummy. Do they cook the grilled cheese on the same flat top as the burgers? Who knows. Sometimes, when you’re a vegetarian in a pinch and on a road trip, you just do your best. The inside has lots of tables with a diner vibe. We waited a bit for our take-out order, leading me to believe these are all made from scratch. They were very friendly and set us up with lots of silverware, napkins, ketchup, green chili salsa and some kind of yummy white dill dip in to-go cups.

I have loved and still LOVE Papaburgers. I frequent the North Valley location and I have seen that they opened a new Heights place too! Last week when I had a burger there… it was a beautiful thing. The green chile on my «ciara» burger was thick and flavorful with just the right amount of heat to compliment the swiss cheese and yummy NM beef. Also I had a perfect size root beer float…$ 2 or $ 3 bucks and worth every penny! The North Valley location also has a little arcade in the back… fun times.

Heard mixed reviews on this place want sure what to expect. The staff was extremely friendly and efficient. My daughter ordered a green chili, avocado cheeseburger she loved it because they give you one big chili cut in half she said she liked that because she got chili with every bite. Fries were ok nothing special. They were very busy and i was surprised how quickly our food was served. If i were to compare it to a burger I’d say a cross between Freddy’s and Blakes.

Was disappointed. This place has gone downhill. I ordered a green chile & avocado cheeseburger. It only had two small strands of green chile that was way too mild with no taste to it and they are using cheap processed cheese. I could have honestly got a better tasting green chile cheeseburger at McDonalds on their value menu for half the price. Disappointing because they claim to specialize in New Mexico Homestyle Burgers. Thats a bogus claim in my opinion. The beef was even bland and under seasoned. I do appreciate that they are locally owned and they do use whole green chile but it just had no real taste to it and I got vary little. Two small strands.
