Not your average museum café by a long shot. I would actually go out of my way to eat here the food was so good. And the service was great, too. You order at the counter and it is brought to you(so remember to include a tip when you pay by credit card or as you leave your table — the server deserves it!). We split an Albuquerque turkey sandwich and ham and brie sandwich. The ham and brie sandwich was one of the best sandwiches we have ever had, and it came with a nice side salad. The turkey was tasty, with a kick, and came with better than average shoe string fries. Husband was not a huge fan of the turkey sandwich, though. Wish we were hungry for dessert since they all looked great and freshly baked. Would come back if in town!

Had a quick lunch here the other day. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The café area was easy to access, inviting, and clean. I ordered the ABQ Turkey club. It was prepared very well and was delicious! Will be returning here in the future.

Ordered a BLT type wrap. The lettuce was wilted and the wrap had mold growing on it. On the positive side, they replaced the wrap and refunded our money. Right on!

We attended a wine event at the museum, but arrived a little early. As attendees, we were provided with $ 5 coupons for the café, so we wandered over to see what they had. The café is just as you walk into the museum, before you pay to enter, next to the gallery store. Very nice setup with wood chairs and tables, lots of wood everywhere — very aesthetically pleasing. Warm and comforting all around. The counter is clean and attractive, and the people are friendly and helpful. There is a full menu,(including a coffee bar) but for the evening of the event they had a special tapas-like menu. I ordered fried artichoke hearts and we both got coffee drinks. The coffee was very good — high marks. We sat with some folks from the meetup group we were attending with and chatted for a while and waited for the food. They were eating the ceviche and chicken skewer items, and both gave rave reviews. Another friend joined them and purchased a beet salad and a greek salad — these are regular items in the café, which were available because they are in the cold case. She also raved about them and shared with her friends, who loved the food as well. When my artichoke hearts were delivered, frankly, I was not expecting much — they’re just fried veggies in dough. But they were unbelievably good. They had flavor and tang and spice and zest and they were amazing. The artichokes themselves were huge and the batter they were in was delicious. They came with a citrus aioli sauce — normally I would never use a sauce like that, but it was delectable! Went perfectly with the artichokes. As I said, we didn’t try the regular menu other than the two cold items from the case, but based on the quality of the food, I would HIGHLY recommend this café. Based on our experience here we are going to visit the Slate Street Café as soon as we can manage to schedule it. Absolutely fantastic!
