Fish was fresh… ordered sashimi The place was not air conditioned but the Asahi beer was cold The sushi rice was not good and tasty(musta been made by the Latino sushi chef) Was not asked for identification while ordering alcohol. This is a chain restaurant and should know better

This place is king! Quick stop for lunch and overall excellent experience. I noticed some of the reviews and saw«lots of food provided». But sushi is sushi right(in relation to portions)? Not here! I went with the Alaskan Roll thinking I get the traditional 6 piece. Well, here you get two additional large pieces of Sashimi. Having no self-control I ate it all and I’m stuffed. But the food taste and quality is fantastic. The staff and green ginger hot tea are great additions to fill out the experience.

We went to try Sushi king after all the rave reviews here. We got niguri, California rolls and Philadelphia rolls. It was good. All of it. No complaints. It’s tough to review a sushi place that falls short, and is simply«good», compared to some of the more outstanding sushi places so I feel like that needs to be said here. My biggest issue is that in all my sushi years I’ve never ordered sushi and not been given free soup to start. Here… You pay $ 2 extra for a bowl. And the prices of the sushi are pretty high in and of themselves. The fish was very fresh. Perfect texture and smell. The rice wasn’t nearly as moist as some of the other places I’ve been for good sushi here in town but wasn’t horrible. And a weird, but notable, observation is their ice. It’s just like the ice from sonic! Which was a very happy surprise for an ice addict like me.

I have tried sushi all over the nation and have to say Sushi King actually has some pretty decent sushi for being in Albuquerque and no where near an ocean. The rolls here are excellent, big, and creative. I really enjoyed the popcorn roll which had deep fried lobster on top of the roll. The NM roll was also really good as well as the salmon sashimi roll. So you ask why not 5 stars? Well what sushi joint doesn’t give you free miso soup! lol but seriously.

Disappointed. The food was gross. Our sushi was frozen, horrible flavor for the teriyaki salmon, dry hard meat in the fried rice, everything about our meal was gross. Way over priced. Bad service. We didn’t get greeted and waited forever for a menu. My boyfriend ordered a beer and didn’t get it. Don’t waste your money or time there. The best part was the mint I got on my way out.

My boyfriend and I were craving sushi, so we decided to go down the street to this location. When we first entered the hostess/waitress seemed very distracted. We seated ourselves and ordered our food. The waitress barely checked up on us, and when the food was brought she didn’t bother asking us if we needed anything else. The service was awful. The food looked liked it was prepared by a drunk sushi chef, the rolls were uneven and falling apart. If this was our only complaint this restaurant would receive a 2 star review. Here is how they lost that last star… My boyfriend woke up with food poisoning, he spent the next day in bed and had to take time off work. We have been to many sushi restaurants but this is by far the worst.

So, my friend and I ordered several rolls to share because we want to try ALL the rolls – put them in my mouth! One of the rolls on our plate was not exactly as it was described to us… it was actually just yuck. The fish just tasted off and was doused in black pepper – a flavor that to me does not scream sushi. Our server never came to check on us. I feel that if an entire roll goes untouched, you should probably ask if we need anything else or if everything is ok. I had to run our server down for water refills, and eventually for our bill. I also mentioned to her that we really didn’t like one of the rolls and didn’t even touch more than one piece. No apology, no «would you like something else.» Just, «oh.» And a shrug. I’ll be avoiding this location for sure.

I feel compelled to leave a review so people that enjoy good sushi can avoid this place. They make their rolls with way to much rice and their fish is not fresh at all. Their prices are just as much as a good sushi place. I like to give places a fair shake so I have been here 3 times before posting this. I will not return.

Never been disappointed in the rolls here. Manuel makes the most beautiful rolls. Try their Dragon roll or a happy roll. Those are my favorite.

GREAT rolls, GREAT service. I think there was one lady taking everyone’s orders but I was impressed by how fast and attentive she was. Not a drink was empty. I enjoyed everything this night and the rolls were all fantastic. Can’t say much else besides that, honestly. I don’t think I’d want sushi anywhere else in the area considering what a lovely experience Sushi King was, especially with the variety of rolls they had. Definitely something for everyone!

The food and service is really good I wish they could spend some money on the restaurant. The sushi was well-made, there more like medium size. But as for taste awesome I give that five stars and I give your service five stars. We had a great time there and I have been there numerous times. We will return soon

Have to give it 5 stars bc they have the trifecta of great service, great food and great view of the mountains. The chicken yakisoba noodles were awesome. And i didn’t know miso soup could be so good. The sushi was good quality, but not really my taste. We got the sunrise and geisha. I wish i went with the Dragon roll instead. The waitress was super friendly and even made me an iced green tea though it wasn’t on the menu.

The service was excellent and friendly. My kiddos are pretty picky about their sushi and the sushi chef made sure they loved their food. Really great food!

No regrets whatsoever! Every time we eat here it just gets better and better! Some of the freshest sashimi and sushi I’ve had in the Q! Order anything on their menu and you will be pleased! Their prices and service are great as well! Definitely order the soups and tempura appetizers!

Seriously– waited 5 minutes before leaving due to lack of service– THEYCOULDN’T EVENTAKE our drink order. So– I can’t say how the sushi is– hopefully it’s better than the horrible service.

Sushi king has very good sushi! Creative rolls and generous portions! The staff and owners are very friendly people who run an excellent business. They definitely get an a+ for presentation– I’ve never had my sushi come out looking like a little dragon– too cool! I had them cater for my wedding and they did such an excellent job! My wedding party was about 100 people and everybody really enjoyed the sushi– it was the highlight of the buffet table. My husband’s grandfather, who has never tried sushi was really impressed. He’s hooked on it now. That’s what happens when you try good sushi, he’s been spoiled by the best and no where else compares. Love, love, love this place! Not only do they have good food, this place is ran by good people. Definitely a place that will prosper and set the bar high.

You should know above all else that this place serves very large portions. You don’t need to order too much, because what you get you get a lot of. They had a Habanero Roll on special so of course I had to try that. It was delicious, the habanero pepper being mixed with lemon. And yes, it was very, very hot. Caught me off guard a little bit. Other specials were also very good. Pretty basic setup. Kind of a diner feel to the space, not a traditional setting at all. There’s another Sushi King off Paseo that I’ve been to, and that one’s not nearly as good as this.

Was in cottonwood mall with hungry eldest child… She wanted Asian or sushi… Went here as was close by… Had some tuna, eel and something else… She ordered, I paid… Was good, not great but would be back… Service very good, décor average…

Ok. So, I have to chuckle. I’ve experienced the Sushi King over in Rio Rancho and have ultimately written them off due to their lack of quality. With that being said … I was running errands and came across this particular Sushi King and decided to give it a shot. WELL, I can definitely say that my family and I will drive to *this* location because the service I received was amazing. Right when I walked through the door, the hostess made me feel extremely welcomed, offered up suggestions for rolls and took the time to chit chat. When the rolls arrived, she would check on me every five minutes or so to see if I needed anything else. T’was time for me to roll on out of there due to my gluttony overload. I actually asked the hostess if the location in Rio Rancho was affiliated with them. as a matter of fact, they are. All three locations are owned by the same person. I explained my experience from them and she’s heard lots of complaints(almost per vadum) regarding the sushi quality. *THIS* location is excellent because the rolls actually stay tightly rolled, the staff are very nice and the quality of the sushi was beyond excellent!
